Reglan (metoclopramide) for Migraine "Due to chronic pain I take a lot of meds to begin with. I ended up in the hospital with a severe migraine that I'd already had for a few days (among other things). Morphine wasn't helping, not even Dilauded helped. I don't know who made the switch, but finally at the end of the second day a nurse came in to give me the Raglan, Toradol, Benadryl combo. Oh how I loved her after that. It burned slightly going into my IV (but Potassium burned a hell of a lot more) but that was really it. I didn't feel jittery but it's the usual initial feeling of light-headedness and warmth. It didn't last long and within a few minutes my head was starting to feel better. I was surprised this worked so well."

Reglan (metoclopramide) for Nausea/Vomiting "I was in the Emergency Room for a kidney stone and was given a couple medications in my IV. I told the nurse that I was becoming very nauseous and needed something to prevent myself from vomiting. She came back with a syringe and thought it was Zofran. The nurse began pushing the medication and said that she was administering Reglan. About 2 minutes later, my chest felt extremely tight, I couldn't stop moving my legs or hold still. I had an extreme urge to rip my IV out and run... and run... and run... I had a feeling of anxiety unlike anything I have ever felt before. It wasn't your typical 'butterflies', this was like I wanted to escape my skin or just end it all right there. I would much rather be dead than to feel the way Reglan felt."

Reglan (metoclopramide) for Migraine "I went to the ER for a migraines I had for three days. I was given this medicine with Benadryl. What I noticed was the nurse gave me the Benadryl first through IV then Reglan. It worked really fast. No extra side effects. I also was given Toradol, it worked as well."

Maxolon (metoclopramide) for Nausea/Vomiting "I can’t express enough how distressing this drug was for me. About 2 hours later I experienced what I thought was restless legs. I felt really anxious and hot and heart palpitations. This then turned into severe akathisia which is the most distressing thing I have ever gone through. It felt like every part of me was having a panic attack but my legs, buttocks and pelvis were the worst. Could not sit down had to keep pacing around. As soon as I tried to stand still and sit it felt like absolute torture because the only relief I got was having to constantly move my body and strain my muscles. I was so scared and felt like I was going crazy. This happened to me twice the second time was with a different medicine which apparently had the same ingredients but it was under a different name. I was given 2 valiums just to settle what felt like absolute nightmare. I’m sure for most it’s prob fine unfortunately for me it was the worst thing I’ve ever experienced."

Reglan (metoclopramide) for Nausea/Vomiting "I had to go to the ER since nothing was working with my nausea and acid reflux. I tried so many nausea meds since I've been pregnant (19 weeks). I have ulcers from this. They prescribed me this and it helps. I take it when I wake up, keeps me awake, and I can finally eat. And I haven't had any side affects"

Reglan (metoclopramide) for Migraine "Went to the ER and they injected me with this, I immediately began coughing, fell back onto the bed, and began shaking uncontrollably and could not speak. The nurse panicked and her eyes got teary, she then told me to fall alseep and I refused because I was so scared! At 24 years old I was not ready for this, I felt I was going to die. Took me an hour to stop the shaking and my headache was still there. Never again! I am now traumatized from that experience and am afraid to ever get injected before knowing what exactly the drug is and its effects. Stay away from it please."

For Migraine "As a ER paramedic for 5years, critical care medic/firefighter.I want to apologize for those who felt the negative effects of the reglan but given on the correct form the combo is better then any narcotic pain reliever that everybody wants or seems to cure the problem when all it really does is mask the pain. 99% of you all who experienced anxiety, or jittery, anger or what not was due to the reglan being pushed way to fast and probably not properly diluted Example: at my hospital we carry reglan in 10mg/ml so I waste 1 ml of my flush draw it up and now have a 1on1 ratio. always! start Benadryl first, flush/open the fluid treatment, backup. While this is happening your drawing up your reglan then SLOWLY give reglan over 5to8 mins"

Reglan (metoclopramide) for Nausea/Vomiting "I have been taking this medicine off and on for about 2 years. When I first started I hated it because it made me feel anxious and depressed and emotional. I was on 10mg a few times a day. It took the sickness away but I couldn't handle the side effects so I stopped and the sickness came back. Finally the Dr. cut it down to 5mg and I felt so much better with that. The side effects were gone and sickness was controlled too. I'm doing very well with this medicine but the long term use still has me nervous because I don't want to develop tremors later. So far so good and I feel pretty good."

Reglan (metoclopramide) for Migraine "This is a 21 month update about my experience with Reglan IV, a one time dose given as a "migraine cocktail" in the ER for a migraine. Yep, in just 3 months it will be two years since I have gotten this awful medication. I STILL have issues from what Reglan did to me. It is not uncommon for people to have tardive dyskinesia or akathasia from Reglan. I got akasthasia. For many the symptoms of akathasia go away in an hour or a few days. (Tardive dyskinesia on the other hand, can be permanent. In fact, like I said I got akathasia, not tardive dyskinesia.) Anyway, in many cases the akathasia subsides. But, it can hang on for some. I was one of those unfortunate people. There is a support group on Facebook called the Reglan Support Group for people who have had a harder time recovering from the injury of this drug. I had acute symptoms for 4 months. It was as bad as people describe akathasia on here. The next several months the symptoms were moderate. This drug had destroyed my life."

Reglan (metoclopramide) for Migraine "I have a history of cluster migraines and occasionally have to make a trip to the ER when they become severe. The Reglan and Toradol combination gives me 100% relief, but learned the hard way, I need Benadryl intravenously or I'll suffer what some of you have reported (anxiousness, pacing, crawling skin, inability to fall asleep, feeling wired). Suffering from the migraine is horrible enough, you don't want the ugly side effects, ask for Benadryl and this should also help you sleep. "

Reglan (metoclopramide) for Migraine "I'm so glad I read these postings. I was admitted to ER After a five day migraine. I was given this medicine through an IV. It took about 45-hour to feel relief. It took my pain level from a 10 to a 4. However the first 20 minutes I felt very restless suddenly and I want to be out of the hospital, I was uncomfortable and I wanted to rip the IV out of my arm. I was paranoid waiting for my boyfriend to come back from the restroom. I couldn't explain the feeling but after reading the other posts I see it was a similar experience and side effect to the other posters."

Reglan (metoclopramide) for GERD "When my Mom was 70 years old, she was prescribed Reglan by her family MD for GERD and "slow emptying" of her stomach. She took it 3 times per day with meals and was on it for at least 10 years!! At 83 years old, she has terrible dyskinesia now, and cannot sleep at night because of her legs, arms and body shaking all over the place. She has tried several other meds to help with the spasms without any luck! She wishes she had never taken Reglan and that her doctor had been more aware of these terrible , debilitating , life long side effects. This is a BAD DRUG Steer clear of it!!"

Reglan (metoclopramide) for Migraine "I went to ER because of a bad headache due to my blood pressure being up. They gave me Reglan and Benadryl. Within seconds I felt such a rush that I thought that I was having an allergic reaction. I started asking what was wrong with me, what did you give me. I could not lift my head or turn myself over. I felt limp as if I were a rag doll . I thought that I was dying and kept asking my husband to pray for me and call my pastor. This was the worst drug reaction that I ever experienced. I hope others have better results."

Reglan (metoclopramide) for Nausea/Vomiting "I had my first injection of this on March 31 2016, I'm 50yrs old and have had Migraine, Hypertension attacks 45 yrs and suffered severe Gangrene when I was young. LETTING THEM GIVE ME THIS WAS A BIG MISTAKE FOR ME AND SEEMS OTHER COMMENTERS TOO. I now don't feel so bad at my Uncontrollable action after reading the same results to others. PLEASE READ OTHER COMMENTS IT SAVES ME THE TIME OF TELLING YOU THE SAME THING. That I lost all control UN-COGNITIVELY after the drug was injected, I ripped out IV left still sick. 3 days later I haven't eaten "lost appetite" NO urine strength and left with confused depression."

Reglan (metoclopramide) for Nausea/Vomiting "I was given this through an IV when I was in the ER for horrible nausea and it was the worst medication I’ve ever been on. It made me feel super jittery and just so confused and anxious. I wouldn’t recommend anyone to try this. Definitely ask for something else if at all possible like ondansetron or zofran."

Reglan (metoclopramide) for Migraine "Went to the ER with severe migraine headache, dizziness and nausea. Was given cocktail of Reglan and Benadryl and was told by ER doctor it would help with both headache and dizziness. Didn’t help at all and made me feel extremely anxious. Then was given a Different drug (don’t recall the name) combined with magnesium. Again no relief at all. Then I asked to please remove IV so I could go home, feeling same or worse than before these drugs. I have only been to the ER three times in my life (I’m in my 60’s) so I’m not too familiar with ER protocol. Would not allow this drug in my body again. Going to neurologist tomorrow."

Reglan (metoclopramide) for Nausea/Vomiting "I went to the Emergency room for hyperemesis gravidarum and dehydration. My doctor first gave me zofran through my IV, didn’t work. I was still throwing up. So he gave me a dissolvable tablet of zofran. Still throwing up. So next he puts reglan through my IV and says he’ll be back to check on me. I literally started going insane. My husband was in the room trying to keep me calm because I started twisting and turning in the bed and yelling. I was having a panic attack. Now I’m here reading these comments and it makes sense. Lol. It did help with my nausea and I ended up filling a prescription for it, but I’ll only take it if it’s absolutely necessary."

Reglan (metoclopramide) for Nausea/Vomiting "I was recently in the ER for vomiting and dehydration after a tonsillectomy. I had a bad reaction to the opioid I was given, and the Zofran I was on wasn't doing anything. My doctor decided to give me Reglan. This drug made the worst night of my life a touch more awful. Within minutes of it going in my IV I had this overwhelming feeling that I needed to get out of the hospital. It was not logical - I was really sick. I just couldn't control my thoughts. I started screaming "I have to get out of here! let me out! get me out of here" over and over like a maniac. Then the hot flashes came. I was shaking like a leaf and feeling like I was crawling in my skin. I started stripping my clothes off. If I could have taken my skin off too I would've. By far the strangest reaction I've ever had to a drug. This stuff is awful. Luckily the nurses came running in with Benadryl. That calmed me down pretty quickly. I've never had anything like this happen to me before. It was mortifying and horrific."

Reglan (metoclopramide) for Migraine "Horrible side effects. I was suddenly filled with aggression and rage after taking it. I was so irritated that I had to tell the doctor to give me something to calm me down before I ripped out my IV. Not something you want to deal with during a migraine."

Reglan (metoclopramide) for Migraine "This was the worst medication reaction I've ever had and had no idea that this was possible! I am having a bad reaction from starting an SSRI for the first time and end up in the ER vomiting and spinning and having been in a panic attack for about 8 hours (I thought that was bad too, just wait). The RN gave me straight Reglan in my arm and 30 seconds later I'm screaming at the top of my lungs "my legs my legs my legs!!!!" And the most terrifying feeling of "I'm going to die" ensued. I wanted to run as fast as I could away. From myself or nothing. Basically I was star in one of those movies where you see someone being operated on in an alien spaceship and the person is awake and terrified. There were 3 security guards and 4 nurses in the room all looking at me while I had this crazy psychotic reaction. I've never felt more embarrassed and terrified at the same time! DO NOT RECOMMEND"

Reglan (metoclopramide) for Migraine "I was given this medicine through an IV while visiting the ER for a migraine. Reglan gave me the worst feeling that I've ever had. I had a major panic attack within minutes. I had weird thoughts and my body could not stop shaking, especially my legs. There was a pool of sweat under me. I felt trapped and thought I was going to die. I wanted to tear out the IV needle a leave. The panic only lasted 2 hours, but it felt like 2 days. I hope to never have that feeling again."

Reglan (metoclopramide) for Nausea/Vomiting "I was given Raglan for a severe migraine episode and was never so scared in my life. I immediately began to almost hallucinate and I couldn’t move nor could I speak to explain what what going on. I had to have a CT scan and they had to literally move me as my whole body felt numb. I finally was able to let them know what was happening and they gave me a shot of Benadryl. This drug is a menace and should be taken of the market. I thought I was dying. It was a frightening, horrible experience. I made sure to put that in my allergies in my medical file and I will NEVER again use that ever again. I still tremble when I think of that experience. I was actually traumatized by this."

Reglan (metoclopramide) for Migraine "I have given this through IV at the hospital for migraine without being warned of side effects. Within 15 minutes my entire body felt like it was on fire and I felt unbearably agitated and insane. I was writhing in the bed and gripping at my face and they told me it would pass. It took a benadryl and about 45 minutes to calm down. Reglan was probably the scariest experience of my life."
