Salonpas Pain Patch (methyl salicylate) "Have had a strained hip rotator muscle for several weeks now and due to my active job being often on my feet, it's been slow to improve and after several hours and days of work quite painful to make common motions with that leg. Today at the start of my shift, I applied a small patch to the top of my thigh/hip where I experience the most intense pain, and it held in place for the whole eight hours beneath my jeans, though it had a few wrinkles by the end of the night due to my constant movement. My usual pain was much improved over this time, though not entirely absent, but I was able to do my tasks much more easily. After arriving home, I removed the patch and washed off some of the remaining stickiness with warm water and soap, and resting the leg/hip now my pain levels are much lower than they usually are after a day's work. (A 1/10 rather than a 7/10.) I can do gentle flexibility stretches with only mild twinges of discomfort."

Salonpas Pain Patch (methyl salicylate) "I've used salon pas for years, I have boxes of them in my car or at home. Even at work. But these new patches aren't good at all. I put it on and almost immediately them crinkle up and lift up. It really sucks because I like salon pas better than the other pain relieving patches. I guess I'll have to try something different. Something that'll stay on at least. I hope you all bring back the old patches or figure out a different types because these really suck!"

Salonpas Pain Patch (methyl salicylate) "I too have used these patches for year, the white ones. They would stay on for hours and hours. Now the new beige thin ones won't stay on at all. Used one on my wrist, fell off after 45 min of constant pushing it down in place. Use a new one after that....lasted less than 30 min. They have lost a good customer with this "on the cheap" adhesive."

Salonpas Pain Patch (methyl salicylate) "I used Salonpas patches for muscle pain. I did not receive any relief due to patches not sticking to skin. I washed and dried skin thoroughly. I remember Salonpas patches worked a few years ago and stayed stuck until they were taken off and they relieved the pain. Now, maybe the patch stays stuck on skin approximately 15 minutes and rolls off. No pain relief at all. Waste of time and money. ."

Salonpas Pain Patch (methyl salicylate) "Never buy this again. Salonpas Lidocaine patch never touched my pain. I couldn't tell I had it on. Couldn't never feel the medicine doing anything. $10 dollars for the box. Now I'm stuck with my pain and patches that don't work."

Salonpas Pain Patch (methyl salicylate) "Recently diagnosed with fibromyalgia. Suffering from terrible back, hip & side pain. Bought these thinking they are worth a try. I am so happy I did. My pain eased enough to sleep and I still feel the effects a couple of days later. I've only used 1 at a time but its enough for me. I find them awkward to put on my back but my husband helps. I take my time and do it carefully, if it folds over I just slowly peel it apart. They stick well, no wrinkling or falling off. They smell amazing!"

Salonpas Pain Patch (methyl salicylate) "Purchased the Salonpas Pain Relieving Gel-Patch HOT for muscle pain in my shoulder at the recommendation of a pharmacist. The box I purchased had an expiration date of 10- 2019, however not one of the first three patches I used created any heat whatsoever. Pathetic product. Threw the remaining 3 patches in the trash and went back to TheraMax heat patches which are excellent."

Salonpas Pain Patch (methyl salicylate) "Salonpas Pain Patch are hard to apply when you live alone and the pain is on your back. It was a struggle to keep it from folding over on itself and next to impossible to get it in the right place. It is sort of on the area now, wrinkled and I am waiting for something to happen. I probably will return to voltaren"

Salonpas Pain Patch (methyl salicylate) "Have used for four or five years with no side effects...muscle strain Four days ago after Pilates in left-side neck, upper cervical, scapula. Applied four patches across back of neck; woke up three hours later, different tingling burning pain. Attributed to continued muscle strain; removed patches five hours later, showered. Several hours later noted more strained discomfort, burning; felt bumps in my scalp close to posterior neck. Slept restlessly and with continued burning sensation. Husband noted red bumps and marks over left side of neck. Called your customer care line; closed. Called Costco where purchased Lot SAO8U Exp 09/2019. "

Salonpas Pain Patch (methyl salicylate) "Surprised by some of the adverse comments regarding this product. I find instant relief and long-lasting relief when I use them for shoulder and neck pain. And I can now get a good nights sleep with their use. And they are really simple to apply. Good product."

Salonpas Pain Patch (methyl salicylate) "I've used Salonpas Patch for muscle pain for a few years. They definitely help the pain every time. Yes, they do have a tendency stick to themselves, which is awkward. But, it is possible to keep them usable. I just have to pay attention and don't rush. I wipe the area with a cloth wetted with alcohol. They always stay for me then. I'm having back spasms now and a prescription muscle relaxer hasn't touched the pain. These took it away. Well worth the effort."

Salonpas Pain Patch (methyl salicylate) "I bought the 105mg/31.5 medicated plaster. After reading mixed review I decided to take chance as in so much pain. Had neck and shoulder pain for couple years. The plaster stuck well to clean dry skin and after second day I could feel a difference. It says not to wear after 3 days however when you open pack of 5 you need to use them, so I did and I think they are really worth buying. I will definitely keep them in house to use, I also use a hot water bottle directly on pain which gives some comfort. Hope this helps"

Now I look like I have had the one leg in the sun for hours with an oil on it. I can not put pants on it or anything over it because it is a bad burn."

Pain Stick Sports Formula (methyl salicylate) "Be careful overusing. It’s will feel like your are burning. It’s does very little if you are feeing muscle that is actually caused by a pinched nerve. If you have nerve pain and not inflammation ..... Ya need an opioid. All otc meds treat inflammation and not nerve pain."

Salonpas Pain Gel (methyl salicylate) "I have tried all types of pain relief. Finally I found Salonpas gel on the shelf at Walgreens. I'm a nurse and the long hours are taking a toll on my back and hips. I must say it works wonders. It's worth the odor, which goes away after a while. I have shared the Salonpas gel with 5 of my friends and co-workers. They all love it. Unfortunately the price has increased since I started using it. Anyway I can get coupons? Greatly recommended. Even better than steroid injections and pain pills."

"I recently tried Ultra Strength Bengay, and found it to be a poor quality, worthless, useless, rip off of a product that did nothing. I might as well have used water. It did not heat up, and I could not even tell that I had applied it, although I know of course that I did."

Salonpas Pain Patch (methyl salicylate) "I have a rotator cuff that has been repaired and is trashed again. No hope of fixing it now. I also am on Xarelto for blood clots and taking NSAIDs makes me bleed in bad places. I have been using these for a few months now with pretty good results. Not great results, but they do seem to allow me to sleep. I find that if you will wipe area with alcohol, to remove skin oils, prior to application they stick pretty well. They are ok for true muscle pain, but not bony or cartilaginous structures. Also, yes you have to rotate application sites because they will cause a chemical burn in about 3 days."

Salonpas Pain Patch (methyl salicylate) "These do not provide a "miracle cure" (nor did I expect them to) but they have definitely helped with my husband's stiff neck and shoulder pain. I have been applying them to his neck and shoulders in the afternoon; then he takes a nap with a supportive pillow and feels much better when he awakens. I have not had the opportunity to try other brands/products, but I can say that these DO work and are not a waste of money. I would (and probably will) buy them again."

"I placed Icy Hot Vanishing Scent Gel Pain Relieving Gel (as on the tube) on the inside of my knee generously as per directions, but not much at all four hours later a small amount. About thirty minutes after the second application I became very nauseated for hours and felt if I was going to have diahrea. At this time. I still hours later feel no better. I did however wash it off as soon as I read the side effects."

Banalg (methyl salicylate) "This was a godsend for shoulder and sciatic pain. My mom had pain, it helped her. My husband had degenerative joint disease and sciatic pain, this helped relieve where other topicals didn't touch it. You could see his body rippled with pain, just standing or sitting. But banalg helped. If it affected children, why not make it a prescription instead of taking it away? My husband had to resort to Rx pain pills and became addicted because the pain was so great. My mom was a CNA and used it in the nursing home for years. Other topicals mentioned do not help in the same manner. Tried them all. One can overdo anything, balance is key. If someone would use it according to directions shouldn't be a problem but people want quick fixes and abuse the medication and that causes issues...and this can be with anything. Wish I had it again, especially at my age."
