"I have been on Janumet for about a month now, and for the last couple of days I've been having severe throat pain. The pain is so severe I'll have to see a doctor tomorrow and I've already stopped taking it for two days now. It has worked well to reduce my blood sugar, but the side effects are just too much to bare."

"I had bad side effects from this medicine. I had nausea, headache and dizziness almost daily since taking Janumet. Thinking my body would adjust I kept taking it for about 6 months. Since I stopped it 2 weeks ago the nausea, headache and dizziness has stopped. I will have to get "real" with myself and do diet and exercise."

"After becoming a diabetic, I was initially put on Januvia, but it failed to control my sugar levels. I was switched to Janumet and have been taking 50/500mg of Janumet (50mg - Januvia, 500mg - Metformin) for over a year. It's just like Januvia, and doesn't work well for me since my sugar levels can reach 140 after meals. I am not overweight and I exercise regularly. My doctor raised my dosage to 50/1000mg, but side effects forced me back to the lower dosage. The higher Metformin caused my body to ache and I felt weak during workouts. I recommend using Janumet but watch your sugar levels closely to make sure it brings your sugar levels to your desired level. I gained 5 pounds this summer and my sugar went up 30 points."

"My body had developed resistance for the sitagliptin after 45 days of use. Sitagliptin worked fine with my body for 40-45 days and became ineffective later. My doctor switched me to glipizide/glimepiride which works with my body effectively even after 1 yr use along with metformin combination."

"I have been taking Janumet 100/1000 (one tablet a day) till recently when the Doctor changed it to 50/1000 (2 pills a day). At first I had some issues but now that my body has gotten used to the drug I am fine. Morning fasting sugars went from 187 to 119 in just a few weeks. I went to enjoy my life and live a long life so I do what I need to do, I am to young to die, lose body parts or go blind. I am not overweight and I do watch my diet, sometimes the body just doesn't get with the program and it needs outside help."

"I have been using Janumet 50/1000 for the past 2 yrs, No side effects and my blood sugar levels and HbA1c is below 7 and I am quite satisfied with the medicine. But the medicine is very expensive, it is on a the higher side. Manufacturer must reduce its price in India and it should be brought under Price controlled Diabetic Drugs List"

"I'm taking 500/50Mg. I'm 24years old, this is my 7th day with Janumet and it has helped lower my sugar levels, but I have upset stomach and before I go to bed I feel a little dizzy (my sugars are okay though). I'm going to keep on taking the pill for a few more weeks."

"I've been taking Janumet for a week, and it isn't working at all. I was on Metformin (1000 mg/2 day) and Lantus (40 units at night). My sugar levels were good. Now my fasting is around 169! Only once this past week have I seen my sugar level below 120. Looks like I will have to go back to Lantus and Metformin."

"I had blood glucose levels in the 400's and and A1C of 12.9. I have started a ketogenic diet of 20 grams of carbs per day and I do 100 squats an every 2 days and now I am pre-diabetic with an A1C of 6.1 and my glucose is around 105 and sometimes normal around 73. I take Janumet 50/1000 XR twice per day which helps tremendously until my diabetes goes away. Keto will be for the rest of my life however."

"What a disaster. All kinds of side effects. Dangerous actually. The day my GP put me on Janumet, I felt weird. One month later I’m confused, have a rash, headache, fatigued, listless and just general malaise. Off Janumet and feel better right away...."

"Just started this medication as prescribed by my doctor. It may work for some, but for myself just after one week I have horrible side effects of upset stomach, nausea, severe muscle ache and night sweats. I felt like I was doing chemotherapy all over again. Be very careful with this medication"

"I have been on Janumet 50-1000 for over 3 years. It is very expensive, but does lower my a1c. I also take glimepiride. About 3 months ago I went on a diet from 334lbs when my blood sugars and blood pressure were starting to get high. The diet helped tremendously in lowering both. BP is now 120/70 instead of 160/90 and my a1c last taken was 5.1 down from 7.6. I am concerned about the cost and I am starting to half-dose to 1 tab a day to extend my insurance coverage. The main reason is that I am continuing the diet for another 180-days and I am not eating that much. About 1600 calories a day. So far my BGLs have been a 100 or lower so I will wait and see."

"I was diagnosed with diabetes type 2, 7 weeks ago. A1C was 12.5. :(. I was prescribed Janumet 50/1000. So far my daily fasting glucose is between 90 and 110. The side effects have been minimal. I have been watching my carbs and sugars. I am 69 and have been trying to adjust to retirement. On Medicare the price of this drug is astronomical. Trying to adjust to a fixed income and paying such high prices for medicine is elderly abuse. Merck should be regulated. Getting old and being at the mercy of these drug companies should not be tolerated. This is unsustainable. I will have to find an alternative. Perhaps Metformin."

"I have been on Janumet for 3 weeks. My glucose levels went from an average of 160 down to an average of 108 and going lower each day. I have never gone too low. I take two 50-500 MG tablets a day with food. I haven't experienced any major side effects. I had a mild stomach ache once or twice. I used a coupon to lower the cost to just $5. The coupon only works for 12 months and you have to have insurance and not be using medicare. After 12 months I guess I will either be able to stop taking any medicine or will switch to something else."

"I previously took Janumet while I was working full-time and had company insurance. It cost me nothing and worked terrifically - no side effects, and A1C was always below 6. I retired and acquired Medicare and UnitedHealthCare. It costs $342 for 90 days, and there is no help from the pharmaceutical company (Boehringer Ingelheim) with cost assistance."

"The first week was awful, I have acid reflux and it combined and made it terrible since I was also doing a diet change. Once that was over, however, I didn't have any more symptoms. The first week I was very nauseous, a little light-headed, and a bit more tired than usual. My insurance covered it twice, but after that has refused. I did lose 15+ pounds, so if you really wanna lose weight, this pill would help quite a bit, lol. Overall, I feel comfortable with it; I really wish my insurance would let me keep taking it."
