"I took Provera pills daily to stop my periods to kill the monthly pain. I chose pills over the shot so I could have control of deciding when/if I wanted to stop. I took the pills for 6 months. The first month, I had lots of breakthrough bleeding - basically, I was slowly bleeding for a few weeks. After that, I had no period, no spotting, no cramps - that part was fantastic! However, for me, the side effects were severe and unlivable. I had insomnia (waking in the night) every night. I had night sweats every night. I gained a little weight. I had extreme vaginal dryness/painful intercourse, which was a first ever for me. My sex drive was non-existent and my acne and facial hair (PCOS) got much worse."

"I have been on Provera 10 mg for almost 3 months now. My first monthly period was painful and heavy. My second was regular, plus I clotted a lot. With my 3rd cycle, I only spotted off and on for 3 days. I haven't seen a cycle since. Besides the cramps and the spotting every now and then, I highly recommend this medicine. I have to take Provera 10 mg daily for 6 months to remove precancerous cells off my uterus. I have a 12-year-old son, and now my husband and I are praying for another child, which will be his first biological child. Has anyone besides me missed a cycle while on Provera? I have taken two home pregnancy tests a week apart, and they both said the same thing (negative)."

"I am 48 years old and have been on Provera on and off for a year. About a year ago, I had my period and it wouldn't stop, it was very heavy with large blood clots, so the doctor prescribed Provera to help stop the bleeding. It did two days after taking it. My Obgyn suggested that I have the Mirena IUD. I did so and have had spot bleeding, sometimes really heavy, since having it placed in. I had to have it removed a month after due to the fact that my body was rejecting it, and I started breaking out in rashes. That was on Sept 17, and I have been on Provera 10 mg once a day. It's been 7 days, and I am still bleeding heavily with huge clots. I contacted my OBGYN, and she said to give it a couple more days, and if it doesn't stop, I am going to call her back. I am so done with this. I have been bleeding non-stop since August 6th. I feel like I have no life, I'm attached to the toilet constantly and constantly having to shower because it smells so bad, and I feel so dirty. I hope Provera starts to help soon."

"I experience severe, as normal, bleeding for 3 months straight, heavy at times. Started in June, saw the doctor. She told me that the Mirena IUD would help, but I broke out in a rash, so I had that removed in July. My next option was Provera. I was told the bleeding would stop in 10 days, but I bled for 3 months non-stop. Great news is it finally stopped at the end of October and hasn't come back as long as I stay on the 10 mg dose every day. I almost gave up because I could not deal with the heavy bleeding. I had no life. I stayed home because I feared I would have an episode, blood just gushing everywhere. Believe me when I say it does eventually work. For some it works sooner, for some it takes longer. You just have to be consistent with your dosage and the time that you take. Provera has given me my life back."

"I was prescribed 10 days of Provera 5 mg for endometriosis and fibroids, painful periods, and painful ovulation. I'm on my third to last day, and I feel freaking amazing. I have energy, I have a low appetite, healthy sex drive, confident, clear-minded, nothing but positive. I won't give a solid 10 because I haven't had a period yet, but this week is usually the week before my period, and I am usually depressed, craving sugar, low confidence, complete opposite of how I feel right now."
