"I went on Provera because my period did not come for 3 months. I was given a 10mg 10 day supply. I am 24 years old, 5'1, with no health issues aside from being overweight and allergic rhinitis. I don't take any medication except vitamin supplements for women that are sold in grocery stores. I take Tylenol occasionally for a headache or muscle strain. I say all of this so you can judge for yourself. While on this medication I experienced headaches, extreme uncontrollable anxiety, high blood pressure, hot flashes, and insomina. I had to stop on the 6th day because my blood pressure was high, I'm talking 140s over 90s and its NEVER that high. I exercise everyday for hours, but it remained elevated. That combined with the uncontrollable anxiousness was overwhelming. I stopped the pills and since I just did it, I don't know if they worked. I contacted my OBGYN about it."

"I’m 36 and 8 months off of low estrogen birth control (took for 10 + years). I had relatively normal periods 31-35 day cycles and then 45 days and 50 + days. I’m healthy, other than being on the low end of the BMI for my height and I have slightly elevated prolactin (having additional blood work after starting levothyroxine). I was prescribed Provera for 10 days. I experienced some cramping while taking it, but nothing unmanageable. I’m 6 days off it and I have horrible nausea and stomach cramps. My sense of smell is also insanely strong. I have had a progesterone blood test three times, and was told I most likely don’t ovulate. Hoping my menstrual cycle starts soon and isn’t too bad. Sending you all positive vibes."

"I was prescribed this medication after being on birth control pills for x amount of years to protect myself from my uterus lining and not shedding due to my PCOS. After starting supplements and going off the birth control pills, still not getting my period, I was prescribed this medication for 10 days. It really does work. I got my period the day after stopping. It IS normal to not have your period up to 2 weeks after the last pill. It does work. Side effects that I noticed was I was eating a lot more than I should. Other than that, 0 side effects."

"After having an irregular cycle and then losing it for 9 months, I was prescribed 10 mg for 10 days (every other day) for 3 months. It worked very well. I usually got it before the 10 days were up, and it didn't give me any side effects. However, after I stopped taking it, the irregular cycles returned, and after a few odd periods, I'm still waiting to get my next."

"Made my hair fall out. I was diagnosed with PCOS and given prescription Medroxyprogesterone / Provera. I was told to take the medication course once every 3 months. I did achieve my period however, after my 2nd-3rd course I started experience extreme thinning of my hair. My hair would shed so much, which led to ball patches in the middle and on the two sides of my hairline. I quickly realised and consulted my doctors and I stopped taking them. A year later I’m still struggling with the thin ends however, my hair is growing back fuller now. Medroxyprogesterone/ Provera causes hair loss so please be careful, doctors know that we are desperate and just prescribe whatever."
