"This medication is excellent. I have tried every constipation med in the US, didn't work, even prescription meds. If you are ever constipated, go with Phillips' Milk of Magnesia (MOM), it will definitely work. Thank God."

"I tried EVERYTHING. I'm 70 and have had chronic constipation. Nothing worked. Today I was miserable! But then I decided to try what my 98-year-old mother-in-law took every night of her long life. MOM! I also know a woman who is 104 and takes two tablespoons every night of her exceptional life. Both these women had no side effects and were regular as clockwork. I took 2 TBs of the cherry-flavored MOM at 10 AM and at 2:30 it worked! Try it, people :)"

"I wasn’t able to relieve myself for approximately 3 days. When I tried, it felt as though I was literally trying to pass a brick. My stool felt rock solid. I tried stool softeners for a day to no avail. I even tried to conduct my own digital removal of feces (DRF), but the stool seemed out of my reach. On the final day, I was experiencing anal contractions but was still unable to defecate. I took MoM, and the anal contractions worsened. After ~four hours, I was able to relieve myself. My stool was so hard that all the water that MoM creates was absorbed. I believe I will have a few more bowel movements, but the main clog has passed. Thank goodness!!"

"Was constipated for 2 days on vacation. Took 1.5 tbs Milk of M at 6 PM and another 1 tbs at 7:00 AM. I was able to go in the morning at 8 AM several times. It was easy and not watery, just a normal soft deposit. No cramps and no nausea. I think the people on here who got diarrhea and nausea after taking it took too much. Don't take more than it says. Taking half a bottle is going to make you have bad diarrhea. This was recommended to me by a doctor in the family who specializes in digestive system health."

"I took the recommended dose at 9:30 AM after horrible constipation, cramps, and bloating. Nothing but stomach gurgling occurred that entire day. I had to take another dose that evening around 7 PM. Still...nothing by bedtime. I didn't get relief until around 9 AM the next morning, and from that point on, I was afraid to move or leave the toilet. And it took about a full 10 hours of off-and-on emergency bathroom trips (those uh-oh! Get up and run! kinds) to get it all out."

"Best laxative out there! I have chronic constipation due to psych meds. I've tried every laxative out there and have a very healthy, plant-based diet, etc., but nothing has helped. Milk of Magnesia is the only effective remedy I've found. Best to take it on an empty stomach-it doesn't seem to work if you're full of food-and drink lots of water. Within 2 hours of taking 4 tbsp, I had 2 bowel movements. No cramps or bloating or pain or diarrhea. This stuff works great."

"2 years ago, I suddenly became so constipated that I couldn't have gone using a jackhammer! That's how bad it was, but after using every OTC laxative, enema, everything, I couldn't go. So, I told my doctor what was going on, and she prescribed Kristalose for $125.00 a month. No success in the beginning, then it got a tad better. Then I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism, which slows everything down, and was given medication for that. Finally, I saw a commercial for MOM and realized I had not tried it before. So, I rushed out and got some. It has changed my life in a great way! No more pain as I had for not going for a week. No cramping. Just stay close to home after use, and it works. Sometimes faster than others, but it will work. Good luck, guys."

"I had severe constipation today, and my stool was stuck. I couldn't even sit down. I had to pull what I could get out on my own in order to walk to get some Milk of Magnesia. It helped me pretty quickly. I was so severely constipated, I thought I was going to pass out as I was straining so badly. I strongly recommend Milk of Magnesia, it saved me a trip to the emergency room. I will let others know it's a terrific product for constipation. Thank you, Milk of Magnesia. You gave me the relief I needed after 6 hours of extreme constipation. I was in so much pain, and you helped me get through it. Thank you so much. I am so grateful for your help!!"

"I've been taking opioids for knee surgery, and they are the worst for causing constipation. Despite taking stool softeners, senna laxatives, drinking prune juice daily, and a high-fiber diet, I could not get anything more than a tiny pebble to come out, and that was after straining so hard I got dizzy. My 'roids were freaking out. Enemas sort of worked, but they were very painful, and I never felt completely empty afterward. Since I'll be on meds for a few weeks, I can't rely on them as a solution. After about 5 days of rocks for guts, I finally found some irritable bowel forums with people swearing by milk of magnesia. So my husband ran to the pharmacy for me. About 18 hours later, the sky opened up and the angels sang. Such relief!"

"I experienced stomach flu with not being able to stop using the commode and took an anti-diarrhea medicine. Then the opposite happened, I became unable to go even after 2 days of eating solid foods. I used 2 tablespoons of Concentrated Fresh Strawberry Flavored Milk of Mag and in exactly 6.5 hrs, it worked in the middle of the night. I could not sleep, so I massaged my stomach and within 15 min., the formula worked, and it was very gentle. I have also used this after surgery, given to me by the nurse, and it works and relieves the problem."

"I am 21 and have struggled with IBS-C for two years now. My doctor has me do colon cleanses when I am severely constipated. So I was prescribed to take 4 tablespoons of MOM. It took a little over 5 hours to kick in, and when it does, you'll know. The first few hours were awful with the gurgling and cramping in my stomach. At one point, I was going to take more because it seemed to not be working. DON’T. It will work, and you will feel so much better!"

"I had jaw surgery 2 weeks ago, and I have to be on a liquid diet for maybe less than 6 weeks, but can also have very soft foods. After a week and a half, I started eating scrambled eggs, and then a couple of days later, I had to go poop and COULD NOT come out. It was painful and to the point I was crying. Then I was researching on what is the most effective out there... Magnesium Citrate. I went to Walgreens with my dad, and he said when he was a child, this was the BEST solution that helped him out with his constipation. When I bought the Wild Cherry flavor of MOM Phillips, I took it right away. It immediately helped out the cramps because it was extremely painful. Then I went to take a long nap, and then 5 hours later, IT CAME OUT LIKE A DREAM. Try it, please!"

"I used the strawberry-flavored Milk of Magnesia at 17 weeks pregnant after having been constipated for about three weeks or so. Never do anything silly like take an unreasonable amount more than the recommended dose-like someone mentioned drinking half a bottle. Anyway, I called in a sick day at work due to a hurting belly and took a medicine capful at 2 AM. It's 8:35 now, and I've successfully discharged the problem around 30 minutes ago. Remembering my grandmother giving me this in childhood reminded me that it definitely works, don't overdo it! It's a safe option for pregnancy, and also, it works."

"About a week after I got my wisdom teeth surgically removed, I began to have painful constipation due to the side effects of the pain medication I was taking, despite an all-liquid diet. I had taken the pill version of Dulcolax before, but wanted to try a different, more natural remedy. I took the recommended dose for adults, 3 tablespoons (recommended is 3-4 tbs) around 1:00 PM. I took a nap and 5 hours later, still nothing. At 6 PM I took another 2 tablespoons, this time with 2 full glasses of water. The relief finally occurred around 9:30 PM that same day. However, after the first time, it has continued to flood out like water almost every 30 minutes. I am talking severe anal leakage. Just be patient and wait after the first dose, unlike me!"

"I was constipated for about 5 days due to taking diet pills. I took MOM at about 10:30 PM at night. I woke up at about 5 AM, rubbing my belly and thinking I can't believe this stuff hasn't kicked in. When I tell you that thought hadn't even left my mind yet, it kicked in and with a bang!!!! I barely made it to the bathroom. I felt so much better, even though I almost pooped on myself!!!!"

"I suffered from severe constipation. A week or more at times with not going; when I did, it was like rabbit pellets. MOM works very well, but it was explosive pooping (make sure you drink lots of water with it). I wanted to poop, not have diarrhea for hours. I now changed my diet, lowered a constipation-causing drug I am on for another condition, drink plenty of water, take olive oil, take pro and prebiotics, take cod liver oil, drink veggie smoothies, no more white bread or junk foods/sodas, exercise, meditate, and stretch my muscles. MOM is not a long-term solution... lifestyle change is. Good luck to you."

"I take medication that makes me forget about eating during the day, but I don’t take it on the weekend, so I consume a lot to make up for the nutrients I am missing. I ate all weekend and had a normal stomach ache, but I was constipated this time. Took 30 ml MOM first, 7 hours later I had relieved a small amount, so when my mother came home, she set out 45 ml and I took it. This morning, I have had to go to the bathroom every 5 minutes for 3 hours. BE CAREFUL WITH THE DOSING! Start small doses and give it time to work."

"I've tried everything, and I mean, EVERYTHING. I have severe OIC and have discovered that I need 'hydrating' laxatives. This is the best one I've tried that is reliable and predictable. I take it with lots of water. That's really important, otherwise, I will cramp and get nauseous. I also take it at night, and in the morning, after I'm up and moving around for about an hour, I will 'go'. Sometimes, in a severe bout of OIC, I may need the larger dose of 4 TBL. Just remember... lots of water with this. Good luck!"

"I'm only 17, and I am always constipated. I've tried Fiber One bars, Miralax, and 4 water bottles a day (not all at once), but after not having a bowel movement for one week, I decided to try Milk of Magnesia. My great grandma swore by it, and my mom picked it up and told me to give it a shot. I took 1 tbsp at about 11 PM and went to bed. Woke up and didn't feel the urge. Took 1 tbsp at about 9 AM and had a satisfactory BM in 30 minutes. This stuff is great."

"I have had severe constipation, and I was barely using the bathroom. Within 8 months, I would say I was using the bathroom about once or twice a week. Just last night, I tried Milk of Magnesia, and it was a lifesaver! Barely using the bathroom within 8 months is very dangerous, so I was so scared! But this helped, and I'm so happy! I feel a lot better!"

"I have been constipated for 20 years due to a brain injury/nerve damage. Bottom line is I don't have a bowel movement without 'help' ever. I've usually gone around 2-3 weeks without having one. Anyway, this stuff is a lifesaver. I've tried everything. It's reliable, and it doesn't hurt like other laxatives do. There can be slight cramping, but that's to be expected when you haven't pooped in 20 days. Anyway, I take it on an empty stomach, followed by a large glass of water (or three). The more water you drink, the more violent it will be, but I don't care as long as I feel better. I take it during the day, not before bed. This way, there are no accidents, and it works much faster (in the time it takes to start 'going' and the time it lasts)."

"This stuff definitely works. I'm 27 weeks pregnant and have been backed up for the better part of the last two weeks. I'm scared to take anything as far as medications because this is my first, and I don't want to chance anything. Like someone else said, take as recommended and drink water! Don't overdo it, it may take as long as 6 hours. And do not take if you have somewhere to be. I would describe this as cramp-free for sure, but I would say you may be confused if you're peeing or not. You're probably not peeing, and it's definitely working. Will definitely be replacing my regular laxative! Oh, and it's a little chalky, but not terrible if you shoot it."

"I had constipation for like 3 days, and it was getting super uncomfortable. So I bought some MoM (Milk of Magnesia), and it worked like a charm. You gotta be a little careful with the dosage so that you don't end up on the toilet for hours. I took the minimum 15 mL, and it did wonders. I'm a tiny person, so it's safe to say weight makes a very big difference."

"I read comments here about MOM taking it too far in the reverse. The directions and some patience are very important factors. My mother is 101, so we are very careful. After many years of chronic constipation and emergency room visits where even the ER couldn't easily help, we learned MOM, taken correctly, gives gentle relief over the course of a day or so. Our doctor explained MOM pulls moisture into the bowel to give relief, so it makes sense people are giving themselves the reverse problem by being too much in a hurry. Can't say enough about this rediscovered old friend. It is the most natural choice."
