"So, I've had idiopathic constipation for a couple of years now. I generally have it under control, but every once in a while, I'm blocked up. I drank this at around 5 PM, hoping to feel its effects before I went to sleep. By midnight, I was frustrated and quite uncomfortable. I contemplated going to my 24-hour CVS but decided to go to bed and go in the morning. There's a reason they say don't drink more than 1 bottle in 24 hours. OH BOY, does this stuff work. Give it the full 24 hours before making any additional actions. I woke up, and a couple of minutes later found that I NEEDED the toilet about 3 times in a 1/2 hour. Past that, I had a strong but not alarming urge once more, and after that, my stool was watery but nothing close to diarrhea."

"Bless the doctor who recommended this to me years ago. I have severe, chronic constipation, and I need to clean out with magnesium citrate at least once, if not twice, a year, despite taking daily osmotic laxatives. One bottle will help, but doing two bottles over two days is what I need for a full cleanout. I took a bottle last night with my waist measuring a whopping 86 cm. After 12 hours, it measures 76 cm. I lost over 4 inches overnight because of how backed up I was, this is how great this works (if you're not constipated, this won't make you lose weight). Drink tons of glasses of water throughout the 16 hours after taking this. Don't drink this and one glass of water and think you're done. I literally get another round every time I drink another glass. If you are severely backed up, please try this. Also, if you have a colonoscopy scheduled and your doctor was a sadist and prescribed you with GoLYTELY, insist on this instead."

"I have been having trouble pooping for over a week now. My stomach is bloated, and I have pain. I had an MRCP done and an ultrasound plus obstruction X-rays done today. I drank a bottle of magnesium citrate yesterday, Friday around 5 p.m., and as of yet haven't gone. I had to use a Fleet enema to get some movement. My stomach looks like I'm pregnant. I am waiting until Monday or Tuesday to find out if I have a blockage in my intestines. Very much in pain. Please pray for me. I went through this 3 years ago, and they never found the problem."

"I've been having terrible stomach issues lately. I tried two kinds of Dulcolax, tried staying hydrated, tried everything, but nothing worked. Finally, today I got a bottle of the lemon-lime magnesium citrate, 10 fl oz, and downed the whole bottle. I've been leashed to my throne on and off for about 8 hours now, so... Yeah, it works."

"Much like others, I write this review from the blissful toilet where I have finally found relief. I'm in my second trimester, and have had constipation for the entire pregnancy. Would go a little bit every three days, but never anything compared to what I used to be able to do. This week hit peak constipation. I had a blockage that I couldn't pass for six days and developed constantly bleeding hemorrhoids. Gained five pounds, couldn't eat, was nauseous, and had taken Miralax for five days in a row. Caved and took Mag Citrate two hours ago and have finally found relief. Can't recommend this any more highly! (Also, FYI, my doc recommends it to pregnant constipated women who get this bad)"

"Well, I did chug the whole 10 oz bottle, around 5 during the day, and now it’s 11:25 and I have not stopped, but this works 100%. I don’t recommend doing the whole bottle, I should’ve done half, honestly, but things happen for a reason."

"Works 100% effectively. However, timing will be different for everyone. Works immediately for me every time, however, the process is pretty drawn out. For some, it'll start and be done in a 3-hour time span. Personally, it started about an hour and a half after taking it but had me running to the bathroom for over 12 hours. This has happened every time I've used it. So just make sure you give yourself a lot of downtime from other activities after you take this. Very effective, though."

"So I drank the whole bottle of Magnesium Citrate, and after 30 minutes of using it, my stomach started hurting so bad! I immediately ran to the toilet and sat there, but nothing came out, just excruciating pain!!! Then I started pushing, and it was kind of hard to pass. Then, all of a sudden, it started coming out like an ice cream machine! After about 30 minutes of that, it started coming out like diarrhea! I thought I was finished and stepped out for a second. I heard my stomach making a loud noise, and I ran to the bathroom, and gravy water started coming out!! Like I’m peeing out my butt! I kid you not! I’ve been doing this for 6 hours now, but just gravy water! I thought it was over, and I ate dinner. Then my stomach rumbled again, and I knew to run to the restroom! As soon as I plopped onto the toilet, gravy water!!! I do feel lighter, but my goodness, I need to get ready for work, but I can’t because I’m stuck on the toilet! Not sure if I’ll recommend just yet!!"

"I hadn’t been able to poop in about a week, only had small, yet painful movements here and there. It got so bad last night, I literally went to the hospital because of severe abdominal pain and the feeling of dizziness, as if I was gonna pass out. They took a CT scan, came back for just some constipation, and the doctor recommended lemon-lime mag citrate. Holy moly. I took it around 8:40 PM, which may have been a blessing and a curse, because it kicked in around 1:45 AM, and it’s now 2:25 in the morning and still going. I was pretty skeptical about this working, given the amount of pain I’d previously gone through, but the relief this has brought me is immense. I had just a little more than half the bottle (about 6 oz), and on a slightly empty stomach, it seemed to do the trick. Definitely recommend for someone who’s going through the same scenario as I’ve been."

"The reason you find that many people are writing reviews from the toilet is: after the 'water works' from second place, you began to wonder like... Oooookaaay, is this safe and is it humanly possible. So we were all actually Googling to find out if we would love to pass 'the brown waterfall' experience... And when does it stop, and can I drink water now... True or false? The good news is... You will live, this is my second experience. And if you think you got it bad, I took two bottles at once... Imagine that..."

"I used this product today. I have been backed up for a few days now. At first, I thought it would water down my stool, for the most part, it didn't. It was painful to use the bathroom since my stool was hard. I still feel queasy. Hate the feeling. However, after taking OTC stool softeners, prune juice, and teas... I decided to give this a try and take half the bottle. Within a few hours, I felt like I was having a baby without an epidural. The night is young, and it might still help me throughout the night. However, with it being NYE, it sucks that I have to ring in the new year this way. I chose a bad day. This product is not for the faint of heart. Be ready."

"Just had surgery 5 days ago and haven't gone to the bathroom since. Took other laxatives, didn't work, and I have a very sensitive stomach. The doctor told me to drink all 10 ounces of this, the cherry wasn't horrible but very sour. I took mine out of shot glasses to make it easier. Got about 8 ounces down, couldn't drink anymore, thought I was going to throw up. It's now 7 hours later and beginning to work! I feel better already! Wish I would have used this sooner."

"I had really bad constipation pain on my side from not pooping for a couple of days. I took the magnesium citrate, and within 45 minutes, I was going. No really bad cramps or pain, not much discomfort, just felt like I really had to go. I’m on day three, and I’m still having diarrhea."

"Didn't know I was constipated till I went to the bathroom for the first time in 5 days. That's when I found this page and decided to get magnesium citrate. Lime flavor tasted like sour Sprite, but no biggie. Drank a little more than half the bottle with a lot of water, and two hours later, worked like a miracle!"

"Traveled to the Dominican and got traveler's diarrhea. Took too much Imodium and ended up being severely constipated for two weeks. My stomach was so huge we called it my 'Dominican Baby.' I tried three different laxatives-nothing. I then heard about Mag-Citrate. Drank a whole bottle of the cherry (not bad-super sweet like candy) and waited. The bottle said 30 minutes to 6 hours for action. I waited 3 hours, then fell asleep and woke up. I was so disappointed. It had been over 12 hours and nothing but gas. This was when I decided to go to the hospital. A few hours waiting there and all of a sudden...relief after drinking a coffee! If it doesn't work right away, give it time, it will! I also recommend coffee to help it along :)"

"When going through chemotherapy, many patients experience constipation. After trying every pill laxative, I found magnesium citrate and boom, it became a regular thing to do the week after chemo. Fast forward a couple of years, I had my boobs reduced, this time, the anesthesia completely blocked me. It's not enough that my boobs look like they had a fight with Freddy Krueger, but I can't use the bathroom! But of course, I used magnesium citrate and again, problem solved."

"I have been on pain pills for the last 3 weeks for lower back and leg pain. As a result, I became very constipated. I tried stool softener and laxatives but had no luck. My stepmom suggested I try this product. OMG, I am so HAPPY!!! This product really works!!! I drank a 10 oz bottle of magnesium citrate and a 16 oz bottle of water afterward. Three hours later, I had a TOUCHDOWN!!! My bowel ran like water. The great thing about this product is I had no stomach cramping or straining. I also put the bottle of magnesium citrate in the freezer for about 5 minutes to chill before I drank it. It's not the best-tasting drink, but it's not that bad either. Overall, this product ROCKS! I will suggest this product to others."

"So, like everyone, I'm sitting on the toilet. Went to the doctor 3 days ago after not going for a week. They told me to try MC because I was full of poop. The nurse was worried about how I had that much in me. Never heard of magnesium citrate and got the cherry. NASTY, took so long to drink it, but it worked well, kinda. After 12 hours, it stopped, and I was still full of poop. And it was still hurting me. I thought, why not get me another, so I got grape this time. It tasted decent, drank the whole thing in an hour. I've learned that's how you're supposed to drink it. After 37 minutes, it started. 6 hours later, still going, if I just stand up, I wobble to the bathroom. If my fiancé shakes me, I already go to the bathroom every time. 30 minutes now on the toilet, I haven't stopped, and my butt's burning. I feel like it's finishing me off like there is no end, lol. But I feel better at least. Stupid part is I took 3 laxatives on top of the drink. I need help, lol. I'm never gonna stop. My stomach just keeps making noises. Oh my gosh, how long does it last?"

"I've used magnesium citrate before, and it works like a charm. On and off stomach bloating, pressure, I knew I was stuffed up. Drank a whole bottle at 11:15 AM, by 6:45 PM, I was off to the races. Definitely recommend clearing your calendar for a day or so because you're gonna go."

"Just like everyone else reviewing this stuff, I'm sitting on the toilet as we speak. I agree with everyone about the effectiveness of this stuff, it's a real plumber and gets the job done. But I want people to know that no matter how nauseous it makes you feel to drink, even if it sucks terribly and you dry heave after every sip (as I did), YOU MUST DRINK THE WHOLE BOTTLE. DO IT. Last time I was terribly constipated, I got the lemon flavor, and it was so gross I only made it about halfway through. It didn't work, which made suffering through half the bottle not even worth it. DRINK THE WHOLE THING!!! You will not be sorry."

"I just spent about an hour to an hour and a half reading all of these reviews after taking MC. I am now at the next step of sitting on the toilet, clutching my Charmin. I am on an antidepressant, and it has caused me chronic constipation. Having constipation frequently throughout my life, I was used to going a few days without pooping. After 7 days of not going, my boyfriend forced me to take this, saying that it was the most amazing thing ever and that I would feel like a new person. Needless to say, I sent him a text telling him how much I loved him. When they say don't trust a fart, they mean it! I felt a slight fart coming, and after clenching a little, realized that this was no normal fart... it was a shart. Run if you feel a fart."

"I'm NEVER constipated, so this experience was quite disturbing for me. It took me almost two weeks to realize that my stomach pain was due to constipation. And even then, I was afraid to use a laxative, as I've never had to use one ever in my life. I tried a Fleet enema first, with very minimal results. Then, two days later, I couldn't take it anymore. (Every time I ate, my stomach began to hurt either immediately or a short time after), so my mother told me to try magnesium citrate. I was scared to try it because a few people complained of throwing up after drinking it. Didn't want to add to the issues, so I went ahead and got the cherry flavor. Couldn't drink it all but got about 8 of the 10 ounces down. 'Clear skies' now! (no throw up)."

"I was given magnesium citrate a few months ago from the hospital due to chronic constipation, and I never drank it. I ended up having a bowel movement on my own. Well, today I woke up at about 2 a.m. My stomach and back were killing me due to not being able to poo for 2 1/2 weeks. I remembered I had it in the fridge, drank it at about 3 a.m. (lemon is absolutely disgusting, by the way), followed by a large cup of water, and by 5 a.m., here comes the boom. I fell back asleep on the couch and instantly woke up sprinting to my bathroom, and out comes pure liquid. I don't have cramps, I'm not in pain, just very, very gassy. All in all, this stuff really worked for me. You can buy it on the shelf at Rite Aid for $1 and some change."

"I've suffered from IBS-C for a few years now. Normally, Miralax does the trick but can take a few days. I decided to try MC, drank the full 10 oz of the grape flavor thinking I had to. Should have stopped at 1/3 of the bottle. Anywho, drank it from 7:45-9:30 PM after putting it in the freezer for 30 minutes. Didn't feel much right away and thought it didn't work. That's until my stomach started gurgling. Then came the pains and a lot of bloating. Holy Batman, the pains! Still, nothing came out after an hour filled with multiple tries. Laid down hoping to sleep through the discomfort. Was awakened at 4 AM and sprinted to the bathroom. It worked. It's still working 8 hours later! Solution is VERY effective, may take a few hours to kick in."

"I took Magnesium Citrate (about 7 oz) before I went to bed and woke up ready to release. This is very effective, though it can take a while, and personally, it was pretty hard to down the bottle. The taste isn't bad, I actually kind of liked it, but it was very sweet and stayed in my mouth, not anything too discomfiting, however. Overall, this works like a charm, but it can be hard to swallow and works slower than other medications for constipation."
