"I have been taking Levoxyl for the past 10 years and doing well on it. Then all of a sudden I was having severe hyperthyroid symptoms after my dose was increased and I was switched to Synthroid. This stuff feels like poison. It caused heaviness in my chest, felt like it was more difficult to breathe, and caused me to feel very depressed. I took it for a month and said no more. I am back on Levoxyl now and all of those horrible symptoms went away almost immediately. I have tried several different levothyroxine brands and it’s so difficult to find the correct one. The batches seem to be inconsistent lately as well for both Synthroid and Levoxyl. But if you’re having horrible side effects from Synthroid please switch to a different brand. It really makes a difference."

"Have been taking this in the morning for years, recently I started taking it several hours before I fully wake up-I dont have the time every morning to take it & wait to eat or drink. Prior to this I would have enlarged thyroid, extreme fatigue, overt emotional distress & body aches & pains. Current TSH is 1.3, at diagnosis it was 70.5. I do have celiac disease as well. I have noticed a remarkable difference in my mornings since changing the time I take my synthroid. I wake up with a clear mind, I feel like I actually slept, & my body doesn't hurt just from existing. Neck feels normal throughout the day instead of fluctuating throughout various stages of inflammation, & temperature intolerance is not that bad. Without this I would be back to barely functioning & my body would be at full gear developing more unsavory and life damaging diseases. First & foremost my goal is to halt the progression of this disease."

"I was on this med for 11 years. Now another med is cheaper for insurance,I have to use it. I cannot lose weight and my menopausal hormones have done me for a loop this year, but I cannot blame it on the med. My reverseT3 is fine so I don't need cytomel or the natural thyroid meds."

"I have been taking thyroid medication for 36 years and I took Synthroid for around 16ish years, then I took Levoxyl for about 14 years until they no longer manufactured it. Both of these products work perfectly for me. No side effects. The last several years have been a nightmare with cheap generics (Lupin, Euthyrox) that cause side effects. Check your prescription before you leave the doctor's to make sure they haven't given you these brands of levothyroxine. I am a health nut and I am very in tune with my body and I find Synthroid works best for me. The brands Alvogen and Santoz/r are the two generics that haven't caused side effects for me."

"I am a long-time Type 1 diabetic with a more recent diagnosis of Hashimoto's. My most recent HbA1c was 5.3% and 5.4% four months prior. I have very good blood glucose control. Started Synthroid when diagnosed with Hashimoto's and within 10 days I was feeling like a rookie Type 1 patient with no blood glucose control whatsoever. My levels elevate dramatically post-meal and are basically unaffected by my normal factor correction doses. It is not until I resort to an emotional "rage bolus" that my levels begin to decline. The insulin resistance I experience on Synthroid is significant at best, and dramatic at worst. If you are insulin-dependent please proceed with caution using Synthroid. l"

"I have used Synthroid for 15 years with dosages from 125 to 150 mcg. I maintain the TSH between 1-2 range for best results and feeling normal. I have tried various generics, but inevitably the TSH changes to out of range, and I go back to Synthroid. My dosage has been 125 mcg for the last several years. It appears you have to stay with the same manufacturer and get the dose right by checking TSH several times after changing either the brand or the dosage."
