Euthyrox (levothyroxine) for Hashimoto's disease "I've been on Levothyroxine for over 10 years and haven't had any issues. All my levels have been great. Wal-Mart pharmacy prescribed Euthyrox in place of my Levothyroxine, stating it was the same and it is NOT THE SAME!! After two months of missed periods, weight gain, brain fog, moody, depression, etc. and now my blood work has CONFIRMED my levels are all off balance for the first time in over 10 years!!! DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE!! Wal-Mart, please STOP using this!! My Dr. has switched my prescription to Walgreen's and I am now back on Levothyroxine once again and throwing Euthyrox in the TRASH!! Beware it is not the same and you will be messed up!! Euthyrox should be removed and I am reporting it everywhere I can report it!!"

Euthyrox (levothyroxine) for Underactive Thyroid "I started taking this medication Euthyrox 30 days ago and I am feeling so horrible. I have upper back pain, neck pain, muscle weakness, terrible indigestion and acid reflux. I even went to test for Covid because I thought that was the issue. I tested negative. Do not take this medication. I feel sharp pains in my arms, overall achy in my throat. In the 38 years I have been taking levo..I've never had these issues. Switching immediately to name brand."

Euthyrox (levothyroxine) for TSH Suppression "I have been on levo since 2007 for TSH suppression after total thyroidectomy, my pharmacy switched to this type of levo replacement and it is an awful prescription. Within 3 days my chest had such tightness I was ER bound"

Tirosint (levothyroxine) for Hypothyroidism, After Thyroid Removal "Thyroid removed in 2014 due to cancer. Have been on every medicine out there. I was happy on Nature-Throid until a change in 2018, and it quit working. Not happy with NP or Synthroid. Just tried Tirosint 6 weeks ago. Noticed a lot of aches and pains have disappeared. Although this med is absorbed much easier for me, and I had to start skipping a day every 5th day on 125. If I didn't - I experienced pains in lower legs and other signs of overtreatment. I just got my blood work, and TSH was 1.19. So it's working very well. Could probably go on 100, but Dr. is happy with what I am doing. I had a small amount of Hashimoto in my removed thyroid. This med is stronger than levo, so be careful when switching. I was on 135 levo before the switch and started on 125 of this med, and I could tell it was still too much. I even eat breakfast with mine. It doesn't even bother it. So those with gastro issues, try eating with your dose. I'm happy and hope it stays this way for a while. I'm tired of switching meds."

Synthroid (levothyroxine) for Underactive Thyroid "I began taking my Synthroid three weeks ago, and I feel great. First, I began breaking my 25 mcg pills into quarters and started out taking only a 1/4 pill. I do this in the morning with a glass of water. I am now taking one 25 mcg pill. My sleeping has improved, I have more energy, my skin looks better, and my face does not look tired. I refused to take this drug initially when I was first diagnosed in 2011 because of a bad scare taking the generic brand, so I let my new meds sit for six months before trying this brand. It works wonders for me, and being a life-long gym and karate guy, I have more energy to do laps in the pool and do weights too. I have taken iodine, and it works okay, but nothing like my Synthroid. Time will tell."

Synthroid (levothyroxine) for Hashimoto's disease "Synthroid is terrible it fave me an exacerbation of mental health symptoms! Nervous, restless, anxiety, fatigue, constant dark thoughts and depression. My TSH dropped from .50 to .02 and still no symptoms of hyper just the same symptoms of hypo. Weight gain, tired, depression. I thought I was losing my mind! Trying to adjust psyche meds thinking that was the issue didn't work cuz it was the levo causing the problem. It's difficult to separate symptoms of mental health problems from thyroid problems because they can be similar. Got a referral from PCP to see an Endocrinologist. They switched me to Armour. Significant improvement. Levothyroxine stinks! I'd rather take no thyroid medication and suffer the consequences than take Levothyroxine. "

Synthroid (levothyroxine) for Underactive Thyroid "If you boil up balsom tea every day for one month you will cut your colestral and your thyroid down to where you dont have to take drugs. Its no quick fix but its a lot better than taking drugs. My wife is going off a lot of drugs and feels a lot better."

Synthroid (levothyroxine) for Underactive Thyroid "I do not notice any difference with the medicine, I’m still suffering from depression and I have extreme hair loss and weight gain even if I don’t eat more than 1500 calories a day. High protein, low carbs"

Tirosint (levothyroxine) for Underactive Thyroid "I have been using Tirosint for over 8 months. I feel good and more energetic during my day. I can actually get more work done without having to take a mid day nap. However, I haven’t done blood work to see how the real effects are taking place within, but for the pass two months I starting experiencing terrible joint pains in my wrist, fingers and legs. So I’m starting to wonder base on some of the other comments if this med is cause these pains."

For Underactive Thyroid "Diagnosed earlier this year with hypothyroidism after symptoms. I had gained over 35 pounds in a year. I went to the doctor, and they put me on Levothyroxine (25 mcg). I have been on it for a month, and there is a big difference from before I started the medicine. You must wait at least 6-8 weeks before your body even starts to see results because it takes time! In the month that I have been taking it, I have gone from 184 lbs to 170 lbs! I have not changed my diet or exercise routine at all. I am eating more than before (I had no urge to eat and only ate once a day) and actually have hunger pains now to eat. I also take mine at night before bed (it upset my stomach if I took it during the day) and I have more energy and not feeling bloated!"

Tirosint (levothyroxine) for Underactive Thyroid "This is the best thyroid medicine I have taken. I took the generic for several years. I was constantly tired and miserable. Finally, I found Tirosint, and I have been so much better. I have been on Tirosint for a year now, and I am so glad to have it. I have not had any side effects."

Tirosint (levothyroxine) for Underactive Thyroid "I've tried EVERYTHING. Armour did not work for me at all. Neither did Levoxyl. I know people who swear by Armour. I've tried generics. The generic made by Abbott Lab worked really well (they also make Synthroid). While I felt better on Synthroid or Abbott's generic, I did not feel NORMAL. Much to my surprise, I feel normal on Tirosint. I have energy I haven't had for more than 15 years. I don't know whether my thyroid will stabilize with this, but I feel the urge to exercise which I've never had on anything else. My brain is clear and my vision is improving. Blood levels were always 'normal' on everything else, but that doesn't mean it was getting cell use. Too expensive, but I can't afford to keep feeling crappy or less than."

Synthroid (levothyroxine) for Hypothyroidism, After Thyroid Removal "I have been on Synthroid for 20 years. My dosage is 100. To the person whose thyroid was removed and dosage is 250, sounds a bit high. My TSH level was also 2.54 the last time I went to the doctor, and I feel better than I have in a long time. Anytime I feel a little psycho and mean, I know my levels are off."

Tirosint (levothyroxine) for Hypothyroidism, After Thyroid Removal "I was on levothyroxine for a year after my cancer surgery/thyroid removal. It was the worst year of my life. I was seriously hating life because I hurt every single day. Muscle aches, swelling, every symptom you can imagine. Weight gain was the worst. I fired my endo and waited two months to see the new one. If I wasn't married, I'd propose to the man. In three weeks, my life has changed. I can go to the gym and not feel like I have been hit by a truck. No muscle aches. I have lost 9 lbs. Brain fog is lifting. I sleep better, and I don't feel like a 47-year-old stuck in a 90-year-old body. I will pay ANY amount of money, and I will NEVER go back."

Synthroid (levothyroxine) for Hypothyroidism, After Thyroid Removal "I was put on Synthroid after having my thyroid removed due to cancer 6 years ago. I think I've been put on every dosage there is. I have not felt the same since. I'm always tired, I wake up wanting to rip someone's head off, armpits sweat horribly, cry over nothing, depressed, hair loss, always colder or hotter than people around me, no energy, etc. But when I talk to my doctor and explain my issues, I'm told that I'm fine. (I beg to differ; needless to say I'm going to see a new doctor next visit.) Though I'm sure Synthroid is a wonderful medication, it just doesn't seem to be working for me in my opinion... my doctor seems to think differently."

Tirosint (levothyroxine) for Underactive Thyroid "I have Graves' disease and took RAI (radioactive iodine (I-131)) to treat the disease, which means now I have to top up my thyroid levels. I've previously taken Levoxyl, Synthroid, and lastly Armour. I always felt miserable with Levoxyl and Synthroid, which is why for the last three years I was taking Armour. Within the last year of taking Armour, I've had terrible inflammation, joint pain, anxiety, insomnia, hair loss, dry skin, weight gain, and the list goes on. It was coincidental that I forgot to take an Armour pill and realized how in one day all my symptoms went away. The next day I took my Armour and they all returned. It was so bad that I couldn't even bend my knees. I was miserable! I've been reading about Tirosint for the last few months, and my endo was more than accommodating to let me try it. WOW! What a difference! I'm not as hungry, losing weight, no anxiety, sleeping through the night, and overall just feeling great, as I've never had thyroid issues. However, I did have some heart palpitations last night. I'm going to get my lab work done today, as I feel the dosage may be too high."

Tirosint (levothyroxine) for Underactive Thyroid "My disabled brother was previously prescribed generic levothyroxine and brand name Synthroid. On both, he was basically in a continual state of lethargy to the point where he would fall asleep on the commode or at the dining table. Never heard of Tirosint until requesting help. This medicine has been incredible. No more lethargy and continuous sleeping during the day. Family members have commented that he is more alert, engaged and seems to be happy. They would be correct!"

Synthroid (levothyroxine) for Hypothyroidism, After Thyroid Removal "After being diagnosed with hyperthyroidism, I had radioactive iodine treatment in 2004. I was put on Synthroid because the radioactive iodine caused hypothyroidism. When this first happened, I had my levels checked every 3 months, and Synthroid levels were adjusted accordingly to fit my needs. We moved the panels to every 6 months for testing, and then yearly. At this point, we are at 150 mcg and I feel great. It has been a journey but Synthroid works better for me than the generic, which we tried for a short time. It depends on what works for you and your body. Don't be afraid to let your endocrinologist know if something isn't working for you; you know yourself best. Good luck."

Synthroid (levothyroxine) for Underactive Thyroid "I took Synthroid for 10 years. I had severe insomnia, so I also took sleeping pills every day. I was depressed, so I took antidepressants every day. I had high blood pressure, so I took drugs for that. I couldn't focus at work, and just getting up in the morning felt like a chore. In 2013, I switched to natural desiccated thyroid drugs (NDT). It felt like waking up from a bad dream. I'm no longer depressed, my sleep hasn't been this good in my entire adult life. It's like night and day. I wish more doctors gave their patients the opportunity to try solutions other than Synthroid, because clearly, it doesn't work for everyone."

Tirosint (levothyroxine) for Underactive Thyroid "I have to say I was excited to triosint but after roughly 8-9 weeks I started to notice tingling in my legs and left arm. I also noticed redness on my chest and vision issues. I wouldn’t have thought it was the medication but since I don’t take it one day out of the week usually every Sunday I would start to feel better by end of day once I started to take it again on Mondays my usual schedule usually by 4 hours later I started to get the tingling feeling again. My legs felt week and knees and joints were hurting. I do better on synthroid"

Synthroid (levothyroxine) for Hypothyroidism, After Thyroid Removal "My surgeon took charge of my Synthroid medicines - big mistake - it was not until I saw an endocrinologist that I found the correct dosage and felt better. It took 18 months to find the correct dosage. I now take 0.2mg Mon-Fri and add 0.05mg on the weekends. This works for me. I had many problems before I got the right dose, and my surgeon said they were not from the Synthroid - he was wrong. I had extreme fatigue, sleeping 10 hours per night and 1 hour in the afternoons. I had trouble remembering things, as well as the inability to concentrate. I was off balance and frequently missed steps and curbs while walking. As well as often feeling like I was going to black out or faint - never did. With the correct dose everything is much better."

Synthroid (levothyroxine) for Hypothyroidism, After Thyroid Removal "It was discovered that I had a nodule/goiter on one of my thyroids, and the other wasn't functioning at all. After all the tests, I was put on Levothyroxine generic. I had all the symptoms named in all the other comments. But to come to find out, I couldn't take the generic. I was switched to Synthroid and have been on it for over 30 years. I had to get it adjusted correctly, over the years, and finally got it settled. All the symptoms gradually went away, and I have been doing great since. This one has done the job for me. The only thing I have to say is that once on this medication, the weight maintenance has been constant with good diet and exercise. I have always separated vitamins and thyroid meds; vitamins in the morning and meds at night. It has worked so far, and I'm feeling great. I will continue on this medication. To all, do not give up. There is something that will work with your body, and it will be like a miracle. This was my miracle."

For Underactive Thyroid "I have only been taking this drug for seven days after being diagnosed with hypothyroidism. This drug is awful. I honestly would not suggest it to anyone. I feel like I'm pregnant and have menopause at the same time! I'm having hot flashes, sleeping terribly, my emotions are way out of control (got really upset and in tears over something that normally wouldn't make me react that way). I feel bloated, my joints hurt worse than they did before this med, my heart is racing and I've had muscle spasms in my back and chest and legs. I've also gotten severely nauseated for multiple hours every single time I've taken it. It was so bad yesterday that I had to run to the bathroom because I thought I was going to throw up. I also feel very tired, more depressed than usual, and I have intense anxiety that is making me paranoid. Never again will I take this drug! Don't put yourself through it. It's not worth it."

Synthroid (levothyroxine) for Hypothyroidism, After Thyroid Removal "I had my thyroid removed almost a year ago, and I can agree that while I have not lost any weight using this drug, I have not gained any either. I have had horrible mood swings and lost a great deal of my hair. My doctor refuses to change the dosage because she says 'I'm within normal range' — whatever that means. I do feel like I'm experiencing memory loss or having problems concentrating."
