Levorphanol for Pain "A very effective pain medicine that you don't feel you have to go reaching for it all the time to get relief. I mean you can strictly adhere and take this responsibly per doctors' directions. Not many pharmacies carry it, if at all, so you will have to order it. That means bringing in your prescription to order it. It may take a while but it is worth it, for severe pain. Just stick with a good oxycodone for other types of pain. This Levo-Dromoran lasts a while and too much can cause respiratory depression."

For Pain "I had nerve damage of the saphenous nerve as a result of a total knee replacement surgery. I had terrible nerve pain that was getting worse over two years post-op. Norco helped a little. I tried high doses of gabapentin, and that did not help. My pain specialist physician prescribed levorphanol, and it helped immediately. I take 2 mg twice a day and feel no pain. I have my life back and am grateful for this medication."

For Pain "I have taken Levorphanol for 18 months. This is the absolute best pain medication I have ever taken. I have Fibromyalgia, rheumatoid arthritis, and severe lumbar-sacral issues that are too far gone for surgery to help. This pain medicine has a half-life of 8 hours. 100% of pain is gone... it even relieves nerve pain. All the pain relief without the foggy 'codone-head' that you get when you take any of the 'codones'. It is relatively inexpensive also. I totally 100% recommend this pain medicine for anyone with moderate to severe chronic pain."

For Pain "I have peripheral neuropathy and another chronic pain condition. This drug was the only one that has relieved both almost completely. It is very costly if your insurance will not cover. My doctor knew nothing about it but let me try. I have taken all of the other opiates, and this is the only one that worked very well for both issues. I don't understand why it is not more widely prescribed."

For Pain "I have had intractable pain since 1989. I am in an intractable pain clinic since 1989. My pain, without drugs, is 10, 24/7/365. Without pain medicine, I was bedbound, 24/7/365, for 4 years. I tried a number of medicines, which worked well. Then in 1995, I discovered Levo-Dromoran, 2 mg. It is the best medicine I have ever taken, and I have had all of them. It gave me my life back! I have never had any side effects. The only problem is they can't supply it all year long. Approximately every September, my pharmacy can't obtain it for about 4 to 8 weeks. I take Opana when they run out of Levo."

For Pain "I have chronic pain in my leg, as well as nerve pain that is moderate to severe. I also have CRPS (Complex Regional Pain Syndrome). I have had five low back surgeries. In one of the surgeries, they replaced the L4-L5 disc with a titanium disc, and still, I'm in pain 24/7. The best-and I mean the very best-was levorphanol 2 mg, along with other medicines, but the main pain medicine was levorphanol. Unfortunately, I have not been able to get it since last April 2010 due to a supplier shortage. I have switched to morphine 60 mg."

For Pain "I have taken this medication for the past several months, and it has considerable benefits with regard to relieving my pain. I take 2 mg tablets 4 times a day. I can actually function while on this medication with a considerable amount of pain relief. I used to take Opana 30 mg and Percocet 20 mg, and my days were a blur. I believe levorphanol has given me the freedom I have not had while prescribed the other medications. I would highly recommend it for people with chronic pain who want to be able to function well. Clear-minded and able to be on the move with superior pain relief. FYI, make sure your insurance will cover it due to the extremely high cost of this medication. Average cost is 2 mg 120 tablets $3000.00."

Levorphanol for Pain "I have pain daily, and this medication has caused more side effects than help. I now suffer from insomnia, memory loss (short term), and leg restlessness. Plus, it is so very expensive and has to be mailed, so I go through withdrawals every month. I hate this medication!!!"

For Pain "Migrainer finally finds relief, but not without its pitfalls. Helps trigeminal nerve pain, peripheral neuropathy. This changes your life. 1) My dose is 4 times a day every 6 hours, and it takes 2 weeks to work. 2) Dependency - beware of withdrawal. 3) Clear thinking returned!! 4) Relief is compared to the level of less pain that only had been seen in a hospital setting with Dilaudid (morphine, Butrans, methadone, oxycodone, or fentanyl). Triptans, gabapentin, and other types of meds simply couldn't keep up, 6 years of daily, bedridden pain. 5) Shortages, every 2 years. 6) Does minimize pain so that light sensitivity/sound/squiggly vision/brain fog is occasional. 7) Cost: $15 per pill to $35 depending on the pharmacy. Max dose is 12 mg a day. Half a pill will help breakthrough pain. 8) Newer doctors don't know this medication due to overdose risk. Doctors - this is worth trying as long as insurance covers it. Total relief of daily chronic icepick migraines triggered by hormones (14 days a month), foods, weather, and stress."

For Pain "I have now been using this drug for over 8 years, and it is the only opiate that has worked for my neuropathy in my feet. It is very costly. I am fortunate my insurance pays for the drug. Most don’t. The only side effect I’ve experienced with levorphanol is mild constipation. It’s been a wonder drug for me. Most doctors don’t know about this drug. In the city I live in, I am the only patient who is prescribed this drug. I recommend it highly for nerve pain."

For Pain "This just did not work on pain at all. If anything, it made me lazy, not sleepy, lazy. I was hopeful that it would work when told it's very strong! Also, I could not stop itching while taking it for the past 26 days."

For Pain "I've taken this med for about 2 weeks. It tends to be better with use. No side effects. I can't go the whole 8 hrs between doses. More like 5 hours. I have 13 different diagnoses of my lower spine. Seven different spine surgeons denied me surgery, saying I am way too far gone. I have been on just about every pain prescription, but this seems to help the best. I'm on 2 mg, 3 times daily, and I'm going to ask for 3 mg next time, as I have to supplement with aspirin, Tylenol, etc. This medicine costs $4,200 per month. Thank God for insurance! It's immoral to charge that much. 40 yrs ago, it was $20!"

For Pain "I am taking Levorphanol 2 mg 3x a day. It was an easy transition switching from the Fentanyl Patch 50 mg. However, the consistency of the round-the-clock patches is different from the wearing off of the tablets at 6 hours. So for 2 hours, I suffer from severe pain of trigeminal and occipital neuralgias and extreme back pain. The happy and clear-headed feeling is worth the switch in itself, though. I hope the pain management Dr. can get that 2-hour gap figured out by upping the dose or making some kind of change."

For Pain "I have been on numerous medications for my chronic daily headaches, occipital neuralgia, and trigeminal neuralgia. Levorphanol 2 mg, dosed 3 times daily, has helped more than any other medication I have taken. It does cause insomnia at times. Other opiate pain medications relieve my pain, but the pain returns much worse. The only downside of this medication is it has to be mailed to you. After a pharmacy was found, my doctor had to send in information about my diagnosis. It took two weeks after my appointment to receive levorphanol. Make sure to plan for refills accordingly. I am truly grateful for this medication. I don't understand why it is not more widely prescribed. I had never heard of it prior to it being prescribed for me. It is best to take when you first feel the pain coming on."

For Pain "It never helped at all, but my doc insisted I stay on it. Then it pushed me into serotonin syndrome, and I had to quit cold turkey. Serotonin syndrome is horrible! It was likely caused by my CKD (chronic kidney disease). It is filtered by kidneys, and I have the equivalent of one kidney. Even so, as I said, it never helped with my chronic pain. I am glad it helps some of you!"

For Pain "This med at 2 mg x 3 did not help at all. When I found out it had an interaction with SNRI, I expressed concerns because twice before, other meds had pushed me into serotonin syndrome. The next day, SS hit me. I am currently going through cold turkey withdrawals to get off of it completely."

For Pain "I must be dreaming... This is only my second day on levorphanol. The relief is amazing!!! I have CRPS, horrible neuropathy, and burns on my leg and foot. I had the tips of four toes amputated. I have been in bed for three years. This may be the miracle I've been looking for!!!"
