For Pneumonia "Took it for 3 days. Numb skin, lips, hands, and feet. I can't sense temperature. Heart rate irregular. Seeing the cardiologist tomorrow. Severe pain in lower extremities, only when trying to sleep, though! Oh, and my legs feel like they weigh 200 lbs each. Today is 11 days off the medicine and still no relief."

For Bronchitis "I don't like Levaquin at all. The doctor prescribed this to me after going in for acute sinusitis and bronchitis. He said it was a strong medication. The first night, I woke up suddenly with a massive headache, and then heartburn. The next day, I noticed more problems which made me feel even worse than my original ailments. I had cold sweats, felt nervous, anxious, and like I was losing my mind! I couldn't sleep."

For Bacterial Infection "I took 1 pill of 500 mg Levaquin for an epididymitis. About 2 hours later, I was experiencing a lot of side effects, such as anxiety, fast heart rate, heart palpitations, muscle spasms, dizziness, and insomnia. The next few days, I experienced major tendon pain and muscle spasms/pain that I have never had before. Instead of Levaquin, I was prescribed Bactrim. Hopefully, this antibiotic does the trick without destroying my body in the process. It’s honestly a shot in the dark with all of the antibiotics on the market, which is truly a disappointment and shame. You never know whether the side effects from the antibiotic might be worse than the actual disease/infection it’s intended to treat. Just shows how messed up America’s healthcare system really is. I hope you all never have to take an antibiotic again! I know there will be way better treatments within the next 10 years."

For Bacterial Infection "This, most of the time, is the only antibiotic that works for me. I get bronchitis and sinus infections almost every year. I get no side effects from Levaquin. If you do, discontinue use and call your doctor. I am allergic to penicillin, so I am limited to which antibiotics I can take."

For Prostatitis "My doctor prescribed Levaquin for my prostatitis. He gave me a four-week course, and it has completely done the trick. It's been six months, and still no sign of any prostatitis. I had absolutely no side effects. If your lips are swelling, you are probably allergic to the medicine and should stop immediately."

For Urinary Tract Infection "I swear by Levaquin! It's what works for me. I spent so much money on Amoxicillin, Z-Pack, etc., and it doesn't help. I have used it for a sinus infection, UTI, and pulmonary illnesses. It's the medicine of choice for me. I have never experienced any side effects or adverse reactions. I'm very compliant with taking it daily, there have been times I missed doses because they're prescribed 3-4 times a day. It's fast-acting and does the trick, love it. I do think about becoming resistant to Levaquin down the road, but by that time, hopefully, there will be another medicine of choice that is equally as effective! Thanks."

For Pneumonia "This medicine is amazing, and I would like to thank all the inventors and people involved in developing and commercializing this medication. I was afflicted with pneumonia, and after I started taking it, I began seeing a benefit within 24-48 hours. Seven days of treatment did the job, and I have myself back."

For Streptococcal Infection "I had a strep infection. I took Z-Pack for 5 days, with no change, in fact, my symptoms actually worsened. Twenty-four hours after the first dose of Levaquin, I noticed a noticeable improvement, and after 48 hours, the pain was gone. It is very powerful."

For Bacterial Infection "Only gave a 1 rating because I couldn't rate it a '0'! One pill was all I needed to be convinced that I had legal rights to sue the doctor for attempted murder by prescribing this lethal drug. I usually have a lung infection once a year, and they usually give me Cephalexin, and it clears up in 5-7 days. But this drug, Levaquin, is so bad. After just one dose, my entire body ached, my fingers and toes locked up, and I had the jitters all night long, and had to detox with milk thistle and TMG. I'm seriously thinking about suing! My advice, 'Don't take it!!!' or you will have tendon, liver, kidney, and nerve problems for the rest of your life, it can also cause death."

For Urinary Tract Infection "My mother is 84 and was given this drug for a mild UTI. After 2 doses, she became so confused she didn't know where she was or who I was. Her muscles were so weak she could not move or stand. She was paranoid and manic at times. Her potassium dropped very low. She was in the hospital for 4 days. They immediately took her off it, gave her IVs and potassium. They tested her for stroke and dementia, which were negative. She is home and better, but it took several weeks. Not a good drug, especially for the elderly. She now takes D-Mannose 1000 mg/day, 2000 mg for any UTI symptoms."

For Sinusitis "Works well, but I refrain from exercise when taking. It's the only antibiotic strong enough to cure bad sinus infections. Have taken it a couple of times for years with no issues except a little insomnia."

For Sinusitis "I'm on day three of this antibiotic. I've taken 6 other antibiotics for sinus infection, bronchitis, and severe ear infections due to an allergic reaction in Dec. I've not experienced too bad of sleep issues since the first night (I already struggle with sleep). Huge loss of appetite and need to increase water consumption. Just began experiencing a lot of drainage that chokes me when I cough. Waiting for the medication to work on my ears because I can't hear at all! Really worried about the muscle issues since I do work out a lot and need to for sanity but am taking time off while on this medication. Hopeful after reading posts that this will help clear out the infection!"

For Pneumonia "As of right now, it is the best antibiotic I've ever taken for pneumonia. I'm highly allergic to almost all antibiotics, so this is kind of my last option. I had 50% fluidization in my left lung, so it was treat the pneumonia or die. I have taken one dose, and my fever has gone from 103.7 to 101.4, and I'm already coughing up fluids. So while the side effects are scary if you get them (I haven't), it works very well."

For Bacterial Infection "I was afraid to take the medication. I read so much about side effects when one is older (76), but after a blood test, my doctor told me this was the only one that would work. So I took it, and I am glad I did. It worked wonders and no side effects. If you have to take it, I would say don't worry."

For Sinusitis "I love 'Levaquin.' It's the only antibiotic that cures my sinus infections, and I have been put on everything. Some will start to work and then...nope. I feel my sinuses begin to drain within hours after beginning Levaquin. I started having sinus infections about 20 years ago and had a stroke 2 months after my sinus surgery (the only thing I got from it). The infections are thought to come from allergies to dust mites and dog dander, which are everywhere. I hate, though, when a new doctor doesn't believe in using such a 'strong antibiotic' or that it's necessary. I have failed college courses because of failing to get my 'Levaquin.'"

For Urinary Tract Infection "I get urinary tract infections quite frequently, about 4 to 6 per year, and I am always prescribed Levaquin. By the third dose, I begin to feel better, but I start getting the bad side effects: stomach upset, vomiting, and diarrhea. It also makes me very fatigued."

For Kidney Infections "I was hospitalized for 3 days and given the IV antibiotic Rocephin for a kidney infection. After being discharged, I was given a 4-day course of Levaquin, 750 mg dosage. Side effects started within hours, first nerve pain (peripheral neuropathy) in the soles of my feet, then within a day extended up to my knees and from my fingertips to my shoulders. After the 3rd pill, muscle weakness appeared alongside the nerve pain. I was lucky that within 10 days of taking my last pill, all side effects were gone. I was told by my regular GP to never take the fluoroquinolone class of antibiotics again. This is a serious drug, and the nerve pain I experienced could have been permanent. I'd only recommend taking fluoroquinolones as a last resort. Read the FDA black box warnings, and if your doctor doesn't take them seriously, I'd find a new GP."

For Sinusitis "I have had a serious sinus infection for 5 years now. It's been getting better, but it flares up every few months. Ten days ago, during the last flare-up, the doctor prescribed ten days of Levaquin. On the first day, I experienced strange dreams/nightmares, but I stuck with it. My sinuses haven't been this clear since before the initial infection, even though other antibiotics were tried and failed. The real test will be weeks or months after I'm done with this dose. For now, Levaquin is the best thing I've taken for these sinus problems. Within 48 hours, my sinuses felt clear again, and now I'm starting to feel normal - for the first time in 5 years."

For Sinusitis "Took for sinus infection in 2009. At the time, I wasn't warned that strenuous activity could cause permanent damage while on this med. I tore a muscle so bad it wouldn't heal. Immediately began getting neuropathy. It progressed and worsened over time. Now... after 8 years, it's finally taken over my body's nervous system and enlarged trunk lines of nerve paths all over my body. Hands are numb, feet are numb, sharp pains all over, torn muscle is now a grizzle and emits sharp, debilitating pain. Polyneuropathy is progressing slowly but surely. Had to stop working because of pain. Taking Lyrica and NSAIDs... doesn't help much. At the end of the road! No cure... doctors say it reminds them of exposure to Agent Orange... DO NOT USE THIS DRUG!"

For Sinusitis "I took this medication for 6 of the 10 prescribed days and discontinued it on my own due to severe pain all over my body. The pain felt like serious muscle/joint pain, mostly in my elbows, feet, ankles, and shoulders. It has been about a week, and I am still hurting and taking it easy. Forget the gym, that makes it much worse. I am taking pain medication daily (both NSAIDs and other meds), and it seems to help."

For Sinusitis "I have had chronic sinusitis for 30 years. Sometimes 4 per year, and we had to do cultures to make sure we got the right bug after having numerous antibiotics fail. I think allergies and maybe viral infections start it off, and then it turns into an infection. This medication has worked for me over the last 10 years, although we have used other drugs to good effect. I have had few side effects except for dizziness and some brain fog for a few hours after taking the drug. It works very quickly on my infections, but I do worry about side effects. I have been an avid weight lifter and never slowed down while on this med and had no issues with tendons or aches. This time I will take it a little easier and just keep my joints and muscles moving!"

For Sinusitis "Levaquin is not for me, even though it did help clear up my sinus infection. The tendonitis and joint pain were just too much for me. What they fail to tell you is that with lots of people who take this drug, the side effects do NOT go away with discontinuation of the drug. I now feel like I have arthritis in my hips, knees, elbows, and hands that simply will not go away, and I blame the Levaquin for these lingering symptoms. I would not recommend the drug to anyone unless their sinus infection simply will not respond to other treatments."

For Pneumonia "I was given this horrific medication as my provider thought I had pneumonia, and after taking it for 8 days, I could hardly walk, and my knees were stiff, and I could not get up or put any weight on my legs. My hands were swollen, and I could not make a fist or open my water bottle. This drug should be taken off the market immediately! How can a physician in good conscience prescribe this medication to anyone? I just hope that I am not permanently crippled by this medication. My chest X-ray came back negative, so I did not even need an antibiotic and just needed a cough medicine and Mucinex to clear up my cough. The one time I did not have time to read the drug information because I was moving, and my doctor decides to prescribe me this!"

For Bronchitis "Was given this drug following severe bronchitis due to chronic dental inflammations. By day 3, I realized my left ankle was painful and hobbled. I read the black box warnings and immediately discontinued the drug, however, that ankle and then the other one got progressively worse. I was barely making it to work and back, trying to do eldercare solo and thinking I was going to be crippled for life 6 months later. Was seriously looking into joining a class action lawsuit and probably should have, but no energy left over. Think megadoses of magnesium and supplements plus some homeopathics like Thuja finally tipped the balance, and I gradually was able to walk normally without pain again. Used Oil of Oregano to clear the infections."
