Levaquin (levofloxacin) for Pneumonia "I have taken Levaquin twice in the past 2 years. The first time I went to the doctor with fever and chills, chest X-ray and labs revealed pneumonia and a kidney infection. I was getting close to being septic. My doctor sent me home with Levaquin and asked me to return in a few days to follow up. I took one dose and felt a million times better. On the 3rd day, I felt fine and returned to the doctor who confirmed I was much better. The second time I got sick with an ear infection and I flat out requested Levaquin, it works so well for me."

Levaquin (levofloxacin) for Bronchitis "Was given this drug following severe bronchitis due to chronic dental inflammations. By day 3, I realized my left ankle was painful and hobbled. I read the black box warnings and immediately discontinued the drug, however, that ankle and then the other one got progressively worse. I was barely making it to work and back, trying to do eldercare solo and thinking I was going to be crippled for life 6 months later. Was seriously looking into joining a class action lawsuit and probably should have, but no energy left over. Think megadoses of magnesium and supplements plus some homeopathics like Thuja finally tipped the balance, and I gradually was able to walk normally without pain again. Used Oil of Oregano to clear the infections."

Levaquin (levofloxacin) for Sinusitis "I had been sick for going on a month now. The first round of antibiotics was Amoxicillin 875 for 5 days. It worked up until day 5, and then I had one of the worst rebounds I have experienced in a while. I am only on day 2, and I haven't felt this clear in months. I am a bit paranoid about the tendon and muscle warnings since I play soccer, so I simply won't be doing any strenuous activities for a while. Then again, I tend to freak out when the slightest thing happens to me, so we'll just see. You MUST drink lots of water with this medicine, it will surely dry you out. I was taking this with Allegra D 24 hour, and so far, so good. Hopefully, side effects won't be too bad, if any at all. It does make you really tired though."

Levaquin (levofloxacin) for Sinusitis "I had pneumonia the month before and was given Biaxin for 10 days. After a month, I started to have horrible sinus pains and was very weak and tired. After chest/sinus X-ray, I was prescribed Levaquin for 10 days x 500 mg. I was concerned about Levaquin due to side effects mentioned online. It was recommended during the Levaquin to drink a ton of water as well as take a probiotic. I took Probaclac 7 twice a day (breakfast/dinner) and the Levaquin at lunchtime. Other than a few minor tendon aches that only lasted a day, I had no other side effects with the medication. Maybe the probiotic/ton of water helped. I felt better after day 4. 100% better now."

Levaquin (levofloxacin) for Streptococcal Infection "Few months back I had a combined attack of flu and bad strep throat. I could not eat or speak. I had 102-103 fever every 5-6 hours. The doctor gave me Zithromax (Azithromycin) 500 mg two times a day. After 4 days, the fever came under control but blood spots in my coughing would not go away. Finally, the doctor gave me Levaquin (1 capsule per day). With the first dose, the pain was reduced by 80%. With the second dose, the blood spots were gone, the fever was gone, and there was no pain. By the third dose, I felt like nothing happened. Excellent drug. I must finish the 10-capsule course."

Levaquin (levofloxacin) for Pneumonia "I've been given this medicine twice - once for serious bronchitis/pneumonia that nearly required hospitalization. Since I am a well-trained athlete, hospitalization for a lung infection was serious. Doctors tried several other drugs before Levaquin, but Levaquin was the best. Now dealing with a relatively minor bronchitis and have it again. I've never had any of the side effects others listed - bear in mind that weakness, headaches, and many other symptoms might just be the progression of the disease and not due to the drug. It's hard to tell since each bout is different but compared to many other drugs, this is statistically a very good bet. If you have bronchitis or a respiratory infection, take your medicines with lots of fluids."

For Pneumonia "I started a 10-day dose of levofloxacin for pneumonia. I seemed to handle it fairly well. I’ve been done with it for about 10 days. I woke up with the worst pain in my knees, thigh muscles, and calves. Each day it’s gotten progressively worse. I can barely walk even with pain meds. I can’t do stairs at all. My muscles are so weak. I’m really scared to see how this goes down. It cured my pneumonia, but I’m paying a heavy price for that cure. I actually feel like I should be in the hospital, it’s that bad. Right now, the hospital is off-limits due to COVID-19. I so wish I’d never taken levofloxacin. Please think twice before taking it, the risks outweigh any good it might provide."

Levaquin (levofloxacin) for Bronchitis "I don't like Levaquin at all. The doctor prescribed this to me after going in for acute sinusitis and bronchitis. He said it was a strong medication. The first night, I woke up suddenly with a massive headache, and then heartburn. The next day, I noticed more problems which made me feel even worse than my original ailments. I had cold sweats, felt nervous, anxious, and like I was losing my mind! I couldn't sleep."

Levaquin (levofloxacin) for Urinary Tract Infection "My mother is 84 and was given this drug for a mild UTI. After 2 doses, she became so confused she didn't know where she was or who I was. Her muscles were so weak she could not move or stand. She was paranoid and manic at times. Her potassium dropped very low. She was in the hospital for 4 days. They immediately took her off it, gave her IVs and potassium. They tested her for stroke and dementia, which were negative. She is home and better, but it took several weeks. Not a good drug, especially for the elderly. She now takes D-Mannose 1000 mg/day, 2000 mg for any UTI symptoms."

Levaquin (levofloxacin) for Sinusitis "So many complaints about this I find comical. I just used this medication for sinus infection last week. Used it numerous times before. I still workout on it no issues. You people crying that now you have tendon pain years later have got it bad. Went snowboarding yesterday with kids on my last dose. Must have been a miracle because even though yeah I had diarrhea and didn’t have as much energy I still had a great time. Going to CrossFit after this response. To sum it up I never had issues with this medication. People’s posts are 100% different from my experience."

For Bacterial Infection "I'm currently taking this for an ear infection, and it seems to be working fine. My ear isn't swollen or hurting any longer, and I can hear out of my ear again. It's day 4 of my 10-day supply. I still feel a little blockage, so I can tell that I'm not fully healed yet. I'm taking this along with some medicated ear drops. I haven't experienced any side effects at all. The reviews about this had me scared, but I think drugs work with little to no side effects when you have a healthy diet, so that's why I haven't experienced anything. I say this because anytime I have to take a drug for something, I look up the reviews, and they are horrid, but somehow I never have side effects."

Levaquin (levofloxacin) for Sinusitis "Works well, but I refrain from exercise when taking. It's the only antibiotic strong enough to cure bad sinus infections. Have taken it a couple of times for years with no issues except a little insomnia."

Levaquin (levofloxacin) for Streptococcal Infection "I had a strep infection. I took Z-Pack for 5 days, with no change, in fact, my symptoms actually worsened. Twenty-four hours after the first dose of Levaquin, I noticed a noticeable improvement, and after 48 hours, the pain was gone. It is very powerful."

Levaquin (levofloxacin) for Bacterial Infection "This, most of the time, is the only antibiotic that works for me. I get bronchitis and sinus infections almost every year. I get no side effects from Levaquin. If you do, discontinue use and call your doctor. I am allergic to penicillin, so I am limited to which antibiotics I can take."

Levaquin (levofloxacin) for Sinusitis "I took this medication for 6 of the 10 prescribed days and discontinued it on my own due to severe pain all over my body. The pain felt like serious muscle/joint pain, mostly in my elbows, feet, ankles, and shoulders. It has been about a week, and I am still hurting and taking it easy. Forget the gym, that makes it much worse. I am taking pain medication daily (both NSAIDs and other meds), and it seems to help."

Levaquin (levofloxacin) for Pneumonia "I was given this horrific medication as my provider thought I had pneumonia, and after taking it for 8 days, I could hardly walk, and my knees were stiff, and I could not get up or put any weight on my legs. My hands were swollen, and I could not make a fist or open my water bottle. This drug should be taken off the market immediately! How can a physician in good conscience prescribe this medication to anyone? I just hope that I am not permanently crippled by this medication. My chest X-ray came back negative, so I did not even need an antibiotic and just needed a cough medicine and Mucinex to clear up my cough. The one time I did not have time to read the drug information because I was moving, and my doctor decides to prescribe me this!"

Levaquin (levofloxacin) for Urinary Tract Infection "I'm allergic to penicillin. I'm disabled and had multiple UTIs. Levaquin saved my life. I’ve also been an RN for 44 years. If you need a drug like Levaquin, be sure to listen to your doctor and take it as prescribed with plenty of water and the probiotics. If you’re not advised about this, ASK QUESTIONS. Remember, your doctor actually works for YOU! Don’t just ask about this, ask about everything. Perhaps make a list before you see the doctor and even jot down notes while with the doctor and/or bring someone with you. How many times have you walked out of a doctor's office and thought, 'What did they say?' Many things can cause allergic reactions. Ask your doctor and perhaps keep Benadryl in your home. P.S.: The original clear capsules have been known to dissolve quicker and get into your system faster, especially when put under your tongue. This is in no manner meant to be medical advice. Always ask your doctor. Yours, in good health."

Levaquin (levofloxacin) for Sinusitis "I'm on day three of this antibiotic. I've taken 6 other antibiotics for sinus infection, bronchitis, and severe ear infections due to an allergic reaction in Dec. I've not experienced too bad of sleep issues since the first night (I already struggle with sleep). Huge loss of appetite and need to increase water consumption. Just began experiencing a lot of drainage that chokes me when I cough. Waiting for the medication to work on my ears because I can't hear at all! Really worried about the muscle issues since I do work out a lot and need to for sanity but am taking time off while on this medication. Hopeful after reading posts that this will help clear out the infection!"

Levaquin (levofloxacin) for Sinusitis "Took for sinus infection in 2009. At the time, I wasn't warned that strenuous activity could cause permanent damage while on this med. I tore a muscle so bad it wouldn't heal. Immediately began getting neuropathy. It progressed and worsened over time. Now... after 8 years, it's finally taken over my body's nervous system and enlarged trunk lines of nerve paths all over my body. Hands are numb, feet are numb, sharp pains all over, torn muscle is now a grizzle and emits sharp, debilitating pain. Polyneuropathy is progressing slowly but surely. Had to stop working because of pain. Taking Lyrica and NSAIDs... doesn't help much. At the end of the road! No cure... doctors say it reminds them of exposure to Agent Orange... DO NOT USE THIS DRUG!"

Levaquin (levofloxacin) for Prostatitis "My doctor prescribed Levaquin for my prostatitis. He gave me a four-week course, and it has completely done the trick. It's been six months, and still no sign of any prostatitis. I had absolutely no side effects. If your lips are swelling, you are probably allergic to the medicine and should stop immediately."

For Pneumonia "If not for this antibiotic, my husband would have been dead several times over. Incidentally, I'm a registered nurse. I see where a number of people have attributed wild 'side effects' to this drug. Many are confusing symptoms of their illness with side effects of the antibiotic. Just because you experience something unusual for you when you're sick doesn't mean it's the fault of the antibiotic. Being ill is an abnormal state for one's body, yet some of these people seem to think that any effect of the illness they weren't expecting MUST BE attributable to something else, and often they blame the treatment rather than the illness. If you've been prescribed Levaquin, I urge you to take many of these 'reviews' with more than a grain of salt! An EXCELLENT drug!"

Levaquin (levofloxacin) for Sinusitis "I love 'Levaquin.' It's the only antibiotic that cures my sinus infections, and I have been put on everything. Some will start to work and then...nope. I feel my sinuses begin to drain within hours after beginning Levaquin. I started having sinus infections about 20 years ago and had a stroke 2 months after my sinus surgery (the only thing I got from it). The infections are thought to come from allergies to dust mites and dog dander, which are everywhere. I hate, though, when a new doctor doesn't believe in using such a 'strong antibiotic' or that it's necessary. I have failed college courses because of failing to get my 'Levaquin.'"

Levaquin (levofloxacin) for Pneumonia "As of right now, it is the best antibiotic I've ever taken for pneumonia. I'm highly allergic to almost all antibiotics, so this is kind of my last option. I had 50% fluidization in my left lung, so it was treat the pneumonia or die. I have taken one dose, and my fever has gone from 103.7 to 101.4, and I'm already coughing up fluids. So while the side effects are scary if you get them (I haven't), it works very well."

Levaquin (levofloxacin) for Bacterial Infection "I was afraid to take the medication. I read so much about side effects when one is older (76), but after a blood test, my doctor told me this was the only one that would work. So I took it, and I am glad I did. It worked wonders and no side effects. If you have to take it, I would say don't worry."
