Prevacid (lansoprazole) for GERD "It's the best medication for my acid reflux, chronic heartburn. Two capsules and I no longer wake at night with painful heartburn. I can continue to enjoy my normal (somewhat spicy) foods without suffering afterwards. Please note - the instructions tell you not to take it for more than 14 days. Then take a break of nearly 4 months before starting another course. The over the counter Prevacid is NOT for daily use ad infinitum. If it doesn't help, then you need to see a doctor!!"

For GERD "Terrible experience with these. I had overwhelming anxiety with irritability, just couldn't relax, crawling itchy skin, tension headaches and really painful restless legs. I also had parosmia (weird unpleasant smells). Was taking for two weeks and in that time I got worse and worse. Like everyone I had zero idea that these would be the culprit of my symptoms. I basically saw it as a common antacid, how could it be these. But it was. Doctors really should be more aware and be up to date on medications they prescribe. Thank God the internet has real information from other uses as I would've just carried on taking them. If your symptoms are what I've mentioned then stop, you're basically having a reaction on top of the other symptoms. I didn't seek guidance from a Dr as I wasn't upvto talking and didn't want the stress of going through the whole appointment and waiting as post covid it's pretty impossible to get an appointment."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "Initially prescribed Lansoprazole 30mg due to acid reflux. I took it for 3 days with side effects (diarhorroea, dry mouth and stomach pain), so I called my doctor and found out I had H Pylori. I had to continue taking Lanso. with Clarithromycin and amoxicillin for 7days (known as triple therapy). Honestly after taking the triple therapy, I began to have withdrawal symptoms. For some strange reason, I used to be really hungry when being on the medication. Not anymore. Dr. recommends I continue taking Lanso. 30mg once a day after the triple therapy until I "feel better really". I've been on Lans. for 4 days now after the therapy and I'm still experiencing sour, foul taste in the mouth, gassy bubbling in my digestive tract.. no hunger."

Prevacid (lansoprazole) for GERD "I got immediate improvement switching from omeprazole 20mg and 40mg to prevacid 30mg for my long term struggle with severe acid reflux. I still occasionally supplement with a Pepcid Complete at bedtime, but overall I'm much better."

For GERD "I started taking lansoprazole for GERD, and at first, it worked a treat, relieving the reflux symptoms massively. After around three weeks of taking it daily, I started to experience terrible heart palpitations, insomnia, anxiety, and achy bones. I took myself to the hospital with the palpitations and felt like I was going crazy, my ECG and blood tests were all normal, and I’m Otherwise pretty healthy. I have stopped taking them now, around five days ago. I’m still experiencing the palpitations. Has anyone experienced anything similar?"

Prevacid (lansoprazole) for GERD "I have used all of them off and on for 20 years. They all work (PPIs), so experiment and see what you like. I like Prevacid and Nex. The best way to get rid of your GERD is to modify your eating habits. Really. Lose some weight, eat a vegetable or some fruit now and then. Changing food habits will do more than all the drugs. I cut back on coffee, liquor, and wine. I am thrilled when I can get down one PPI every 3 days or so. That can happen for you. If we could all sleep standing up, we would never have problems. Side effects they don't mention: Anxiety, chest pains. And the purple will give you looser stools after a while."

Prevacid (lansoprazole) for GERD "I've had extremely bad heartburn for several years. While I don't experience reflux the chest pain and throat/sinus pain are all consuming. I can no longer tolerate this pain. I've been on a diet of mostly rice, applesauce, oatmeal, lean protein and an occasional veggie. Everything including water gives me heartburn all day/everyday. It appears I have Nutcracker Esopgagus or esophageal spasms. Two weeks ago I received an esophageal Botox injection which is meant to relax the esophagus, thus reduce spasms. I've experienced no relief. I had this same procedure six months ago and enjoyed nearly 3 months heartburn free! I believe it's failed this time. I tried Prevacid 15mg OTC and experienced 25% improvement. Suggestions?"

Prevacid (lansoprazole) for GERD "I started using Prevacid after several months (actually years) of a condition of acid reflux getting increasingly worse. Tums just wasn't working anymore, and I was crossing more and more foods off the list of what I could eat without getting severe heartburn. After several kinds of tests at a specialist, I was prescribed Prevacid. I couldn't believe how quickly and permanently my heartburn went away. I could even eat onions. There was one side affect though - frequent diarrhea for about the first six months - it really became kind of regular thing, but seriously, it was better than the awful heartburn. After the first six months, it went away and never returned."

For GERD "I had been taking Esomeprazole for chronic GERD treatment but had started to notice a "tolerance" building up. I had switched from Omeprazole to Esomeprazole without any drama whatsoever so I figured I could go ahead and make the change to Lansoprazole the same way. Long story short ... I could not! A couple weeks into the medication swap I started noticing a "fluttery" feeling in my chest and only then did I read that irregular heartbeat is a fairly common side-effect of this PPI. Let this be a lesson to everyone as it was to me ... even OTC medications have potentially significant differences that could be potentially dangerous."

Prevacid (lansoprazole) for GERD "I've taken Prevacid for over a year now. The first 6 months or so were amazing, almost completely heartburn-free. Now, it's almost like I'm taking nothing at all. I think I need to switch to something different. Worked great for a while, though."

For Erosive Esophagitis "Lansoprazole has eliminated pain from gastritis for 6 years. Downsides are that I become anemic due to reduced ability to absorb B vitamins from food. Taking Sublingual B complex vitamins (1 mg X twice daily) has raised my energy level considerably."

For GERD "It's okay for acid reflux that (no doctor has termed it for me) has no specific cause other than long-term dietary intake of alcohol and spicy foods and the like. Not quite the same as rennies where it's an instant neutralization of stomach acid, but it feels like it controls it and lasts for quite a while. Side effects to report are: it feels like, and I know this will sound odd, but the acid instead of being neutralized almost finds it's way into my muscles, not sure about the medical name for this. The other, disturbing one is erectile dysfunction which just my luck I get temporarily with just about any medication I try even if it's in the "very rare" category for side effects, thought it was only in my head after trying it but no seems like it can happen, maybe I'll have to switch to a different one."

For GERD "I have been using this product lansoprazole for years and it works for my GERD. Shame that now my preferred pharmacy can’t seem to get it in and it’s frustrating. One brand they keep trying to push makes me sick instead of helping my condition it makes it worse. Now we have to order from another manufacturer and I am skeptical and upset that I keep having this issue for the last year or two."

For GERD "I've been on and off lansoprazole for 2 years. Mine is on repeat prescription but I find after 2 weeks I have to stop it. My heart rate goes up, upper back aches. I restart it if symptoms come back. I'm also celiac, with histamine level issues and sulfite sensitivity. Lansoprazole has high levels of sulfites so if I eat food that's high in them it starts to overload the body. Once it has returned to normal I restart and adjust diet as best I can. Please note GERD, histamine and sulfite issues are a common issue with celiac. The medication itself works really well for gerd"

Prevacid (lansoprazole) for GERD "My doctor gave me a sample of Prevacid for chronic indigestion and one pill taken at bedtime gave me the HIVES by the next morning. Never having had the hives, I was freaked and called the doctor immediately. I was then given Prilosec and have been 96.6% trouble free since then, switching to Prilosec OTC which was half the price of the prescription."

Prevacid SoluTab (lansoprazole) for GERD "With Gastroparesis, I am unable to ingest most medications, including normal heartburn tablets. Prevacid SoluTabs are a game-changer for someone in my condition. Since my insurance stopped covering this medicine, we have not been able to find any other medication that works at all, let alone as effectively as Prevacid SoluTabs, and that includes Protonix Powders. I am very grateful for the conception and creation of this medication, and how much of a difference it made in my life until I couldn't acquire it anymore."

Prevacid (lansoprazole) for GERD "I took the 2nd dose of Prevacid. It caused the sudden onset of extreme nausea and vomiting 2.5 hours after taking it. Maybe I should have taken it on a full stomach. All I know is that it made me horrendously ill necessitating a visit to a local ER for hydration and Zofran."

For GERD "I've been taking these for a week and and supposed to do for a 2 months and 3 weeks more but there is no way I can that. It has given me awful side effects and somehow made the reflux WORSE in just a week and I'm not sticking around to find out how it's going to be in one more. I have to note that the plain omeprazole and esomeprazole I was taking before this gave me one-to-zero side effects. Do not take this med unless it's a last resort."

I had very bad heartburn and pain in my back but since taking it On Friday after seeing my doc it has gone. I would try home remedies before taking any drug and I did. I guess it was stronger than I thought. The only side affect this morning is a small amount of chesty cough. Otherwise I am fine."

For GERD "Okay about 3 years back I had taken Lansoloc, around 5pm when I just finished work. By 18:30pm I started to itch all over, broke up with hives and my voice went soft, I was like whispering and talking, heart was racing! Had to to go to the ER. I couldn't figure what caused the allergic reaction. As I did have something to eat just before the attack! And I had taken Lansoloc several times before. Then one day again when I took Lansoloc I had a similar experience, then I realized that I'm allergic to Lansoloc. Just last week I took a capsule for GERD called Adco Roznal and once again I ended up in the ER, started to wheeze, my BP went up, itching uncontrollably, had an anaphylaxis attack, was so scary! Why am I allergic to these capsules, when I used to be fine taking them? Now it no longer agrees to me."

For Stomach Ulcer "I did not have high stomach acid but I was vomiting blood and after 3 weeks was bedridden from this drug. Joint pains started in femur and spread to joints, broken bones, confusion, burning pain and took ages before could walk with muscle activity at all. it is well known and the facial rash was misdiagnosed as Rosacea. I used to walk 30 miles a week. These side-effects are in the leaflet; I did not have them all. I am now looking at complementary medicine as there is no recourse from pharmaceutical companies. Pharmacologists will not blame drug but treat side-effects with more. I am getting better but until there is a test for low stomach acid, this will continue."

For GERD "I was on this medication, lansoprazole, for over 20 years. It work very well for many years, I did not have GERD symptoms. I am now 63 years old, and for the last few years I have had trouble digesting food. I had to have my gall bladder removed a few years ago, and I believe this was due to the fact I was taking this medication. This stops acid production, and you need the hydrochloric acid in your stomach to digest your food properly. I have read a great deal of information on this, and have watched several you tube videos from doctors on this. I started taking apple cider vinegar at about 2 Tbsp. in a small glass of water before each meal, and weened myself off the lansoprazole a little at a time. It took me 6 months to totally stop taking it. I kept using the ACV before every meal. I also started taking Betaine HCl to increase my acid level. I have to take 3 of the 648 mg capsules and the ACV before every meal. I am now going into my 4th month and I can eat anything with no GERD."

For GERD "I might as well be taking a placebo, as this medicine does absolutely nothing for me. I still have heartburn and burny esophagus. Sodium bicarb in a little water does way more to help relieve these symptoms. Much cheaper and healthier (no harmful drugs and chemicals, and no side effects either)."

For GERD "I been taking gaviscon for a few months now and I’m experiencing really bad heartburn well I say that it’s like a burning in the throat and chest, I keep wondering why the doctor give me lansoprazole so I start to take them I feel okay, I only take them when needed but I find if I don’t my acid is more effective I feel like it’s burning that bad I feel sick I’m constantly having it, even if I eat certain foods, drink anything. Whatever I do it’s there. I’m scared that means I'll get stomach cancer if I take for a long period time so I’m gonna speak to GP see if they can suggest something else. I wouldn’t advice this medication if your worried as I have bad anxiety and depression so it makes it 10x worse for me. I was told not to keep taking them as it can cause risks of stomach cancer by doctor. But I will say I do take it at night as I suffer more lately at night. Lansoprazole does work but just worry’s you why doctors give this."
