"I took the pills twice and in both times I had very bad side effects like vomiting, cold chills and I even had joint pain like fever! My boyfriend is also lactoseintolerance but has no reactions to these pills ."

"I love plain yogurt but was having difficulty with dairy digestion (diarrhea). So, I decided to try a generic lactase chewable tablet. What a mistake. I suffered severe nausea and could do nothing but lay in bed all day. Later, my daughter stopped by on her way home from work. When I told her I felt quite "off", and what I had taken, she said: I remember when you tried Lactaid about 10 years ago; the same thing happened. I wish I HAD remembered. I WILL keep this last awful episode in mind."

Lactaid Fast Act (lactase) "Okay so I’ve been suffering from undiagnosed stomach problems they wrote off as IBS and well I’m not buying it but point is they tested me and it showed I was lactose intolerant so me being the person I am I didn’t want to upset my stomach more so I bought equate lactose pills and at first I took one or two and no problems although I never had horrible discomfort from dairy anyway just the occasional runs but BOY WAS I IN FOR IT so I took 3 lactose pills cause “no side effects” right? WRONG that was my first warning cause a couple hours later I felt like I was going to vomit and that feeling lasted two days but I figured it was what I ate SOO fast forward to last night I ate Mac n cheese at 2am and me being scared it would hurt my stomach I took 3 lactose pills and THE NEXT MORNING I WOKE UP IN PAIN and I ended up vomiting for the first time in 4 years so no more pills( figures cause I ate nachos and fried Mac n cheese prior with no pills and I was fine)"

"I have mild lactose intolerance, so I decided to take some lactase before eating some mozzarella, which I can normally handle with only mild discomfort. Within 15 minutes of taking the lactase, I was nauseous and dry heaving into the toilet. Would not recommend. I tried taking it in the past as well with similar outcomes, but thought it was a fluke. Now I know."

"Do yourself a favor and don’t buy these pills. They won’t help you and only give you false hope. I tried these pills out in an attempt to help me wean dairy out of my diet since I usually get an upset stomach when I eat it, but I figured I could treat myself every once in awhile by using these. They worked for the first 4-5 times and then I took two to eat a pizza. Worst mistake of my life. I ended up running to the bathroom and nearly pooping my pants and then projectile vomiting eight times into my bathtub. I seriously felt like my stomach was just a super soaker full of stomach acid and pepperoni. At the time I figured I had just gotten food poisoning so I took another one tonight in order to eat an ice cream cone. Tonight is when it clicked that it was the pill, I’ve been toilet bound for the last three hours and once again find myself vomiting into my tub. Please do not buy these. Save your money and try other milk alternatives if you can."

Lactaid (lactase) "I am mildly lactose intolerant and have used Lactaid brand milk for several months without issue. Suddenly, one day after ingesting this product, I became violently ill with extreme stomach pain and vomiting. This occurred almost immediately and lasted for nearly 10 hours. I was fairly certain that I was experiencing a reaction to the Lactaid product for a number of reasons. I think most people experiencing this level of pain would have rushed to the emergency room. Don't ingest things your body can't process, regardless of what they tell you."

Lactaid Fast Act (lactase) "I have been using lactaid milk for a while for my morning cup of coffee and still had issues with bloating and gas so I recently decided to use the lactaid fast act. I noticed that there were days where my stomach would hurt an hour or two after the pill, but nothing too insanely bad. But today I only drank my coffee and one of the pills and three hours later at work I was in a cold sweat and puking my life away. I hate leaving early so it was super embarrassing and when I got home I felt the same stomach pain I usually get from the lactaid pill and additionally I started having really bad diarrhea. This pill was supposed to make me more comfortable, but I almost puked all over my coworkers and pooped to within an inch of my life at home. I'm hesitant to ever take these again."

Lactaid (lactase) "I have lactose intolerance and have used Lactaid for years. I get bloated and have a lot of gas. It makes me miserable and it’s embarrassing. I take 2 Lactaid chewables with my first bite of food and it works great! I either have NO symptoms or very little. I occasionally forget to take them and when I do it’s terrible so I know they help. I recommend them to people all the time."

"So good to know I’m not the only one. Every time I use this product I immediately get nauseous. I guess I’m going to have to do things the hard way and stop my dairy intake. It is definitely worse taking the Lactaid than being serious about my intolerance. They need to change the official side effects. Believe they get away with saying there are none."

"I have a pretty mild lactose intolerance usually. A big dairy meal can result in upset stomach, cramping and gas. I tried a lactase enzyme to hopefully relieve my minor symptoms. Upon taking the pill, my symptoms seriously escalated! I’ve tried it twice now and both resulted in terrible upset stomach, diarrhea and vomiting. Googling the enzyme reveals no side effects, but after looking through these reviews I’d recommend to use with caution!"

Lactaid Fast Act (lactase) "This is the first time I’ve bought this brand and the rest of the stories sound very familiar. I took 1 pill and ate 2 slices of pepperoni pizza and I was in the toilet with cramps all day . Then tried 3 pills. Same. With 2 slices of pizza and nope it did not help . I felt cramps and so much bloating and constipation then diarrhea. What a bad experience!! I thought this would help me but no. Do not recommend this brand . I bought it at cvs ."

"Tried these about six months ago and within a few hours was vomiting along with profuse cold sweating. Thought it was a bug or perhaps the pills were past their expiration date. Tossed that bottle and worked up the nerve to them again. Big mistake. Two hours after taking them nausea and stomach cramps set in. Vomiting and the worst diarrhea ever set in soon after. Will not be taking these again."

Lactaid (lactase) "I've been unable to eat ice cream since my teens without getting sick. Other dairy was fine until I was recently diagnosed with an autoimmune disease. I got so sick each time I ate it. I was fully off it until I found these. Not only can I eat dairy again and not get very sick, it helped fix my IBS symptoms. No idea how that happened, but I'll take it."

Lactaid (lactase) "Lactaid has worked well for me. I ate some cheese and my lactose intolerance kicked in severely. The next day I tried lactaid for the first time and ate the same cheese, and I experienced no stomach issues. Ever since then, I have used lactaid and it has worked very effectively. I have experienced no side effects."

Lactaid (lactase) "So far, Lactaid has been awesome. I've been using it for about a month. What my specialist diagnosed as GERD's disease for the last 2-3 years appears to be acid reflux caused by my aging body's inability to produce the lactase enzyme to break down milk and milk products (I didn't realize how many food products have milk in them). In summary, my body couldn't break down lactose, causing acid reflux, and my specialist put me on a prescription drug. The first drug was pulled off the market because it caused cancer. The second drug (Rabeprazole or something similar) is still being evaluated. Anyway, no more pain in the upper left part of my stomach, no more GERD or acid reflux. I'm having a tough time believing my specialist didn't tell me about Lactaid or a similar product for the 3 years of pain I went through. I hope this helps someone else with stomach/intestinal issues. It's a known fact that 65% of aging adults will lose the ability to break down lactose."

Lactaid (lactase) "After discovering that all medications I was taking had lactose in them. Also finding out I was taking the wrong lactaid. I found that I must use the fast acting kind. My problems have all but disappeared. I can tolerate some sharp cheddar cheese. When eating out I take 2 fast acting at every meal because like it was said before, lactose can hide in a lot of places. I can have a lactose free meal at home and still have to take 2 lactaid because of warfarin I take that has lactose as a filler. My stomach is much better because of lactaid."

Lactaid Fast Act (lactase) "I've been lactose intolerant since I was a young child but I never took anything for it. I avoided regular milk and have only used lactaid milk or soy. A couple of weeks ago I decided to try lactaid fast acting pills because I was tired of the gas and upset stomach. This medicine has caused me severe stomach pains and diarrhea. I am currently curled up in a ball in pain. I would rather have terrible gas than take this pill again."

"I've used lactase enzyme since 1993, 30 years, initially in liquid drop form that was added to food or used to reduce lactose in milk overnight. Drops are no longer available in the States, but the pill/caplets are. I've never reacted adversely to them, but it did take some adjustment of dosage to accommodate my severe lactose intolerance. I'd noticed some reduced effectiveness over the past few years only to realize the Lactaid brand I was buying wasn't the Extra Strength I'd previously used. I've given these to friends and family members over the years for either suspected/known lactose intolerance or during GI viral illness, and none have ever had bad reactions. What's interesting is reading about the severe N/V/D experienced by so many here from lactase, which is not mentioned in any literature by NIH, Mayo Clinic, or Cleveland Clinic. N/V/D are well-known to be symptoms of lactose intolerance. Very strange. I hope more studies are done to investigate this phenomenon."

"I just got done throwing up three times from this product. I have used this maybe 5-6 times and it has always worked until tonight where I had a milkshake. I had an upset stomach the entire night and threw up pink cheesecake milkshake. I'd rather have it come out of the other hole instead of my mouth. This product is awful and needs to be removed off the market. I’ll stick with almond milk"

"I’ve been lactose intolerant for a few years and the symptoms where worsening over time so I thought I would use these before going to an Italian restaurant so that I could enjoy my food without my stomach and head hurting.... Worst experience ever. It had been a long time since I was this ill. I was nauseous, had severe stomach cramps and cold sweats. I actually couldn’t even touch my meal and had to leave the restaurant early. I thought I was an exceptional case until I found this page. Please do your self a favour and don’t take it and mostly, please don’t sell this garbage any longer, it’s just horrible."

"Right now I feel very, very sick. I just took 3 extra strength Lactaid pills then ate a small creamsicle. I was convinced my lactose intolerance must have increased to a new level because I am severely bloated and nauseous. Now that I read these reviews by my fellow sufferers I see that the Lactaid failed to protect me. "

"I tried lactase inxe while pregnant and ended up vomiting profusely. I chalked it up to pregnancy woes. Just tried it again (over a year later, obviously not still pregnant). I have bern vomiting so intensely that my 3 year old is terrified. I'm experiencing abdominal cramping, sudden diarrhea and horrible retching. FAR sicker than I would have been just eating the dairy alone."
