"I had Stiff Person Syndrome, and I was on this medication 80% of my last 9 years of IVIG. It did well overall. I grew tired of the ups and downs I would go through each month. Two weeks of feeling great, one week of meh, followed by a week of horrible, with all my symptoms feeling magnified. I finally switched to subQ last year and haven't looked back."

For Primary Immunodeficiency Syndrome "I have common variable immune deficiency (CVID). First time ever receiving this (Gammagard) developed severe headache, N&V, and D. Temp 100.2 and low back pain. I felt like I wanted to crawl out of my skin. Symptoms continued for 4 days. Second treatment gave me a temp of 102, N&V, back pain, hypotension, and lasted 3 days. The 3rd dose was changed to Phlebogard and I had a headache, low back pain, and symptoms lasted 2 days, but did not start until 48 hrs post-administration. Much better toleration."

For Multifocal Motor Neuropathy "No side effects, and relatively immediate relief from pain and general wobbliness of legs. Did not improve hand function, it continued to slide. However, I recently switched to Gamunex-C, and my hands became worse, so I believe Gammagard did slow the progression."

For Primary Immunodeficiency Syndrome "I was diagnosed with CVID in December 2019. My body weight had fallen from about 220 pounds to less than 130 pounds in 2 1/2 years, even after following a strict diet for celiac disease. In 2019, two different specialists examined me and found that I had severe CVID; they insisted that I was being misdiagnosed as having celiac disease. My immunologist prescribed monthly infusions of Gammagard IVIG. It took about two years to gain weight back to a reasonable level; I now live a normal life. Like some other patients, I started to feel low back pain about halfway into my infusions. My immunologist prescribed Solu-Medrol to be given before the infusions. I no longer have pain. After 6 years of using Gammagard IVIG, I am being changed to Gammagard SCIG. My immunologist feels this will yield more consistent IGG levels and eliminate the need for Solu-Medrol. The Takeda Patient Support program (OnePath) made this drug affordable. Gammagard saved my life!"

For Primary Immunodeficiency Syndrome "Was on Gammagard at the hospital for one year. Had terrible back pain after infusion, and my numbers never got above 525 for IgG. Changed to Hizentra, and my numbers are near 1200 for IgG."

For Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyradiculoneuropathy "I was diagnosed in 2007 with Lewis-Sumner disorder, a branch of Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyradiculoneuropathy. I received a week of loaded doses of Gammagard, then a maintenance dose of 100 g and have been at 90 g for a few years now. This medicine is a great help for the atrophy in my legs, but I do get side effects: moderate to severe back and muscle pain, cramping in my upper front thigh muscle, foot and toes. Also, a lot of hair loss, and women should not get IVIG infusions when on their menstrual cycle. It causes more clots and a lot of increased flow than normally happens. Double up on your monthly feminine products and be prepared to change them every 30 minutes. I also experience fatigue, frequent urination, and headaches. Drink lots of water! I take Excedrin migraine."
