Synvisc-One (hylan g-f 20) for Osteoarthritis "I got three shots of Synvisc by my greedy doctor and regret it to this day. DON’T PUT THIS GARBAGE IN YOUR BODY. It’s a jell that can come out of your knee joint and move around in your body with no way to escape until it causes a problem that is likely to hospitalize you. I would tell you my nightmare story with Synvisc but it’s the same stories as the hundreds of people YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED, BUT IF YOU ARE ONE OF THOSE PEOPLE WHO NEED TO FIND OUT FOR YOURSELF GET A SHOT. Synvisc (hylan g-f 20) for Osteoarthritis "I had my third injection 30 days ago. I find the improvement to my knee to be ongoing. Kind of a two steps forward one step back situation. I can now go up stairs almost normally. I no longer limp as I walk and the knee is relatively pain free. I have hopes that I will be able to play raquet ball again sometime in the future."

Synvisc-One (hylan g-f 20) for Osteoarthritis "After making the mistake of reading reviews of this treatment on a few sites - I felt I had to share my experience. What I had read scared me and made me pretty anxious. First off - about me. Mid 50s - way overweight and the knee I was working with had torn cartilage removed in late 80s. Didn't work. Now bone on bone and it crunches when I bend or move it wrong way I had the Synvisc 1 treatment 2 days ago and it started with a needle for the freezing. Then a needle for the steroid. Finally the S1. When it was done, I felt good - no pain or anything so I attributed that maybe to the freezing. Pain is now almost gone - very little bone crunching. GP said 2-3 wks for full potential. Cant wait. I recommend but every individual is different"

Synvisc (hylan g-f 20) for Osteoarthritis "Had my first shot in my left knee almost 3 years ago! Was amazing and still no issues to this day. My second shot was in the right knee which lasted a little over a year and just had the third in that same knee. Almost PAIN free in both. Far better than surgery!!! Highly recommend before opting for surgery!!"

Synvisc (hylan g-f 20) for Osteoarthritis "I had my first set of injections back in October 2012. I got almost immediate relief after a couple of days of swelling. It worked great for about three months then the effects started to wear off. I am hoping the second set of shots will work as well or better than the first."

Synvisc-One (hylan g-f 20) for Osteoarthritis "Had it done 26 hours ago and immediatly felt better, much more movement, almoest painfree. My only problem is that i'm so used to walk sparing my knee that I do not walk ""normally"" yet. There is alway the scariness of sudden hurt but I'm feeling more confident by the hours and was told it take around 6 week to be fully effective. My doctor is amazing and did not feel the needle or maybe like a moskito bite. I have not had any side effect besides comfort yet. but agin it's been 26 hours."

Synvisc-One (hylan g-f 20) for Osteoarthritis "Had the Synvisc one injection 3 weeks ago for osteoarthritis in my knee. The pain I had before the injection was nothing to the pain I’ve had since the Synvisc. I had fluid drained from my knee last week and it’s swollen again, like a balloon waiting to burst. I’m allergic to steroids and most pain meds and taking ibuprofen is like peeing on a forest fire. Getting the Synvisc injection was a huge mistake for me and has made my knee worse not better"

Synvisc-One (hylan g-f 20) for Osteoarthritis "I had the Synvisc one injection in my left knee 4 weeks ago. The injection was painful and I had worse knee pain than before for 3 1/2 weeks. I have had little to no pain for 4 days now. I am hopeful to receive 5-6 months of pain free living. If so I will most likely have a repeat injection as my next option is knee replacement."

Synvisc-One (hylan g-f 20) for Osteoarthritis "Well I have had a Synvisc injection in each knee once a week for the past 3 weeks. Unfortunately, the swelling and stiffness has been almost unbearable. I have a very high tolerance to pain but it has kept me up at night for the past week. I am now icing my knees for 20 minutes every 2 hours and staying off of my feet as much as possible. I have read that these side affects can last up to 3 weeks (I hope not). It is very difficult to get up off of the toilet and have had to use a cane the last 2 days. It has now been a month since my first injection and I noticed the symptoms worsened with each one! They have cost me $700 from Canada. Insurance would not pay for medication."

Synvisc (hylan g-f 20) for Osteoarthritis "Initially had Synvisc-One injected into my knee, with only slight benefit (scale of 1-10, improvement to a 4 at best). Several months later had knees treated with the 3 injection Synvisc and it was a Godsend, on a 10 point scale the improvement has been as high as a 9! 3 months have passed and some minor pain has returned, but still maintaining a 7 on a 10 point scale."

Synvisc (hylan g-f 20) for Osteoarthritis "I first had the 3 in one injection 2 years ago with instant benefits and it lasted almost a year to the date. This is the 3rd time I have had the same injection but this time my knees are so swollen that I can not walk downstairs or get up from sitting. This is the second day and I am still hopeful that after the swelling goes down it will also last another year."

Synvisc-One (hylan g-f 20) for Osteoarthritis "I have had problems with my knees for few years, sometimes had to use a cane and then others just hurt when I bend down or go upstairs. Osteoarthritis. I took a Synvisc-One shot today and it did not hurt at all. The doctor numbed the area up before inserting the needle. I am hoping it works as well as I've heard it does."

Synvisc (hylan g-f 20) for Osteoarthritis "Synvisc gave me significant, almost immediate relief from the bone-on-bone pain in my knees. Since then, as I continue to learn about my knee problems, I now understand that some of the pain is in the tendons around my knees, which are inflamed due to severe bow-legs. Still don't understand why the bowing is increasing with my age, but this forces my tendons to stretch in an incorrect manner, more on the inside of each leg than on the outside. Unfortunately Synvisc cannot address this problem, although it does provide a nice separation between the joint surfaces which also suffer from excess pressure on the inside portion of each knee. I am currently looking into shoe wedges to improve leg straightness by preventing excess supination."

Synvisc-One (hylan g-f 20) for Osteoarthritis "Been receiving Synvisc injections approximately every 6 months for last 3+ years. They help tremendously. There is always a little soreness and swelling of the knee for about a week after injection but then I get 6 months of pain free activity. That's a pretty good trade-off if you ask me."

Synvisc (hylan g-f 20) for Osteoarthritis "I had the triple shot 5 years ago to my left knee. My knee swelled up horribly and I could not do any of my workouts or dancing for 6 weeks. I was miserable and did not ever want to have it again. The upside is that after 6 weeks of pain it worked for 5 years. I just had the shot done to both knees and have not had any swelling and it has been 48 hours. My right knee is catching with any quick movements. Hope to have success after a few weeks. It did hurt really bad during the injection but I don't think that I received any local anesthetic this time. I think that may also contribute to the swelling when extra volume is added to the area. I also did not do any activities for 48 hours which is difficult for me."

Synvisc (hylan g-f 20) for Osteoarthritis "I've had multiple Synvisc, cortisone and aerations over the last 5 years. The process is easy and pretty much painless. The results were beneficial, but the pain would always return (usually in 6 month intervals) and get progressively worse in frequnecy and intensity. When the pain got so bad it was difficult to walk, then I would schedule another appointment. A little over 1year and 3 months ago, I decided to start strengthening my leg muscles with weights as apposed to cardio by walking and the elliptical. Do not do the leg extensions as I found out these only make things worse. I do leg presses and reverse leg curls with a compression brace on both knees. Most of the pain is gone (90%) at this time period and is still getting better."

Synvisc-One (hylan g-f 20) for Osteoarthritis "I was told I had osteoarthritis and surgery is not an option on my knee due to my age. I had the cortisone shot in August. It did nothing. Therefore, I had the Synvics-one in March. Oh my god, there ought to be law that ALL doctors should be frank with their patients, who are in severe pain and seek relief. Low and behold, I had the shot which was somewhat painful, but bearable. The first night I was in agony...could not sleep for the pain. It has been a week, and severe stiffness has set in. A friend recommend Blue emu for the pain, and Tylenol. The Blue Emu helps, but the pain (which is as worst as last week) is beginning to subside during the day. At night...just horrible, I awake ever two to three hours with pain! Never!!!"

Synvisc-One (hylan g-f 20) for Osteoarthritis "Just to placate some fears after reading these reviews I'm glad I didn't read them BEFORE my injection yesterday. It absolutely did not hurt at all, just a little uncomfortable/weird sensation as it went through the fibres into the joint . My Dr used the ultrasound before /during /after. Today - 12 hours later - feels 'full' and a little swollen but definitely no pain."

Synvisc-One (hylan g-f 20) for Osteoarthritis "1st injection= mild swelling then relief. Injection 2 = intense swelling and pain. Synovitis. Had to get a steroid shot. Injection 3= they felt maybe the 2nd injection was in the wrong place and wanted to try again I did. Worse swelling and pain. It is not a suck it up buttercup thing. I am an ironman and have had surgeries. This is abnormal and swelling to the degree of not being able to bend my knee to 90 degrees. Nor straighten. It is painful and tight. Bad reaction not good and not normal. Now I will be at the Doc Monday 72 hrs post injection b/c I am so swollen I can hardly function. He will draw fluid off and give me a steroid injection. This is awful anyway - too common."

Synvisc-One (hylan g-f 20) for Osteoarthritis "Knee surgery in March for(I was told)severe Arthritis and two Meniscus tears. The recovery and therapy was awful! My doctor kept giving me Cortisone shots, then he suggested the Synvisc, I finished the Synvisc treatments in July and I STILL have horrrible pain daily! I can't sleep through the night without the pain, unable to stand on my own without holding on to something, and every visit to a store, I look for a basket, just to have something to hold on to. The surgery was a FAIL and all the doctor will say is "you had extensive arthritis, I had to do a lot of work once I got inside of your knee". I am no longer able to straighten my knee out, I can't walk straight which has now thrown my back out of whack! It didn't work!!!!!!!!"

Synvisc-One (hylan g-f 20) for Osteoarthritis "I had the Synvisc-One shot in early May, hoping to be able to dance at my Granddaughter's wedding. I had been walking 2 miles a day, five times a week before I had the shot. Within 72 hours, I was in horrific pain. I sent my husband out to get a walker. 3 weeks later, I wore a knee brace to the wedding, with a tens unit beneath it to mask the pain. When I called the doctor, he prescribed pain medication. I didn't get it filled. I will not get hooked on pain meds. I have a friend I taught with get hooked on pain meds, and it wasn't pretty. Anyway, it is now the end of August, and I still have pain in my knees just sitting in a chair or lying in bed. Wished I had read these reviews BEFORE having the shot!!!!!!!"

Synvisc (hylan g-f 20) for Osteoarthritis "I had Synvisc on at least two or possibly three occasions, with a series of three injections one week apart-- This was perhaps 8 to 10 years ago (i.e. in2009 or 2011?) Each time I received very good results and relief which lasted two to 3 years. I regards this as an acceptable alternative to a total knee replacement."
