"An ENT Doctor put my 79 year old mother on 1 mg of Haloperidol twice a day for 90 days. We di d not know she was taking it. She stopped going out to do normal errands, she was in bed a lot, she was losing weight, she had become a zombie, she has no appetite. She was put on it because she was burping a lot and had tried 3 other medications. She has had all kinds of tests to figure out why she was burping all the time but doctors have not been able to figure it out. This ENT Doctor is out of town but his associate told us this was probably too high of a dosage for an elderly and recommended he get us a new prescription for .25 mg twice a day, meaning she was taking 4 times the amount. We took her off it, I just hope I get my real mom back."

"I was given a shot of haldol for Gastroparesis related symptoms at the ER. It caused immediate and severe agitation and restlessness. The worst sensation of my life. I wanted to rip my skin off. They gave me Benadryl to try to combat the reaction. It temporarily lessened the symptoms, but took over two days to get out of my system. I will NEVER take this medication again."

"Was given haloperidol in ER thru IV. Within seconds I got a hot flash like the menopause kind and then I felt like I couldn't sit still. They wouldn't give me anything to reverse it. Stayed like that for 2 hrs then they discharged me. It is 14 hrs later and still feeling agitated and restless. I hope it stops soon cause benadryl is making it worse."

Haldol (haloperidol) "I went to the ER with persistent vomiting that I had already tried Zofran and other medicines for without any luck. After getting a dose of IV Haldol I stopped throwing up and was able to put down some water. I still had some lingering nausea when there was too much motion, but overall I would count it very successful. I didn't experience any negative side effects that I'm aware of."

Haldol (haloperidol) "I experience nausea/vomiting related to my epilepsy after I have seizures. Sometimes it will last for over a week and I mean vomiting lasting 4+ hours at a time. Luckily this has no side effects for me besides sleepiness. Makes me feel better within a half hour. Zofran, Reglan and phenegran did me no good. It’s been a lifesaver for me."

"Was given this med through IV in the ER for severe stomach cramping and vomiting. It helped the cramping in stomach and vomiting but the moment they administered this drug I knew something was wrong. My legs started getting sore and cramping up on their own. Parts of my body would twitch and shake and I just couldn’t take it anymore I thought I was having a mental break. I was terrified that I’d be stuck like this forever with the awful panic that also came along with this med. Went right back into emerg and had them give me benadryl and a pill to reverse the effects. Never AGAIN!!!!"

"DO NOT TAKE THIS DRUG! I almost died after being administered haldol without my knowledge. Went to the ER with vomiting and ended up having to come back and have my shirt cut off my body & I was almost defibrillated. I told the nurses at the ER my lips were turning as pale as my face and they ignored it, I ended up going home and within the next few hours my back, neck and arm muscles had completely locked up. My heart was beating over 200bpm. I got 5mg through an IV. I went mute, I couldn’t speak, I was stuck staring directly at the ceiling because of my neck being locked. My arms were stuck extended outwards to my sides. I almost didn’t make it out of the ICU. DO NOT TAKE IT! All these reviews are 100% accurate. I would rather vomit for 10 days straight than take Haldol again. It should be illegal."

"I was given Haldol for my gastroparesis. I had slight nausea. But mainly had epigastric / chest pain from one of my "episodes". The nurse came in and says, the Dr. ordered Haldol and Benadryl, IV. Um... Ok.... I was worried about the Benadryl making me drowsy. But boy was I wrong. The Haldol!!! I felt like I was going to jump out of my skin! I was restless, agitated, I thought I was going to go CRAZY!! I had to keep moving my arms and legs. And all I wanted to do was rest! But every time I closed my eyes, I would see crazy images in bright neon colors. I felt like I was on an ACID TRIP! I hadn't slept in 3 or 4 days from my abdominal pain. I also had to lay still while they took me into do a CT scan. I really thought I was going to have to jump off of the table and run out of the hospital. I will NEVER take Haldol again.!!!! I will be listing it as an Allergy! I think that if you are crazy it helps you, but if you are straight.... Haldol will make you Crazy!!!"
