For Fibromyalgia "This is a hard one. I have read nearly everything there is to read on guaifenesin and Dr. Anand's treatment. I recommend you do the same. Have I improved? Yes, very much, I think... I need to go back and get mapped again. The confusion is the length of time of treatment and if you are blocking or not. You must journal and map, or over six months you just are not sure of improvement. Some pains are the same, but the brain fog is completely gone, and I have much more energy. So life still sucks, but not as bad as it was six months ago. Is it the guai? I think so??? I hope so? By the way, those of you that gave a one star because you felt so tired? Well, that is exactly how you were supposed to feel. Oops."

Guaifenesin for Cough "I was suffering from a severe virus-caused sore throat with terrible coughing. My PCP advised me to take Mucinex but at substantially greater dosage than the package recommends. I did so for about 3-4 weeks. The medication did help relieve my coughing, but it interfered so badly with my sleep that I had to discontinue taking it. I notice that other people have experienced sleep problems with Mucinex. There should be a warning about this on the package label."

For Fibromyalgia "When I first started the protocol, the pain got much worse - this was the phosphate deposits leaving my body, which hurt as much leaving as they did coming in. As I stayed on the protocol, this got much better. I have been on the protocol for 25 years. Still taking guaifenesin and have no more complaints of Fibromyalgia."

Guaifenesin for Bronchitis "Mucinex works great for colds and helps get the nasty stuff up before it takes root in the lungs, but for bronchitis you will definitely need something much stronger (see a doctor) unless you want to be sick for about 4 weeks."

For Fibromyalgia "I used the guaifenesin protocol for about a year and completely reversed all fibro symptoms. My fibro symptoms occurred very rapidly, and I noticed that the change seemed to occur about the time I began applying those wonderfully scented lotions/potions to my skin nightly from places like Bath and Beauty, etc. I started researching and began the protocol after reading the book. I was completely better within a year, I would guess. I have stopped using guaifenesin for 3-4 years now and have no recurring problems. I think I swamped my system so fast with salicylate products and all those ingredients on the 'do not use' list that it was easy for me to quickly remove them from the lumps I had mapped by a specialist."

Guaifenesin for Fibromyalgia "I have been using Mucinex for 6-9 months for fibromyalgia and chronic cough (20 years). I started with 600 mg twice a day for about a month, then I switched to 1200 mg twice a day for about 2 months. 1200 mg was way too much, it made my joints burn with pain and my left leg swell up. I switched back to 600 mg twice a day - still had the pain and swelling - then dropped the dose to 600 mg once a day. The swelling went down and the pain was much less. I got very tired - hard to work. All this time, the Mucinex worked to control the fibro and helped me to function and think clearly. I will try an even lower dose of Mucinex. I can't get it over the counter. I've been off the medicine for 2 days with lots of rest. In a few days, I'll be back on with a lower dose."

For Fibromyalgia "Suffered with pain and fatigue my entire adult life, but in 2008 I was bedridden from fibromyalgia and fatigue. This is not a quick fix, nor is it a cure. It is a treatment I will use for the rest of my life. The protocol is complicated and can be expensive, depending on your required dose. I had to eat a low-carb diet to control my fatigue. Each year since 2008 has been measurably better. This protocol is most difficult for the 'natural' crowd - no herbal supplements, must avoid most 'natural' skin products - but for me, it has been well worth it. I am stronger and in less pain than when I started this. Most importantly, I am not bedridden."

Guaifenesin for Cough "I had a bad chest infection, and even after potent antibiotics took care of the infection, I had a rattling cough and low-grade fever. My doctor Rx'd Mucinex, and I could not believe how well it broke up the congestion in my chest, made it easier for me to cough it all up. As a result, I finally got rid of the low-grade fever also. Finally, guaifenesin has been around forever as a remedy for fibromyalgia."

Guaifenesin for Bronchitis "I read many reviews, some positive and some negative. But people need to remember it will work for some, and others it won't. In the '80s, my allergist prescribed 'Guaifenesin' for me. It really was the best for me. Then it was taken off the market for a while. Several months, I was looking for something to help me with my congestion and allergies. Found Mucinex and have been using it as needed, and I feel great."

Guaifenesin for Fibromyalgia "I found tremendous relief during the past six months with Mucinex for fibromyalgia, however, I was wondering if any other person thought that the Mucinex also caused sensitivity to sugar. I also noticed that when I took the 1200 mg of 12-hour timed release Mucinex, I felt energetic, however, my joints were extremely painful. My shoulders and left knee were on fire, and my left leg was swollen. I reduced the dosage to 600 mg timed release. Now I feel okay, able to function without the extreme pain and swelling, the sensitivity to sugar is still there though. Also, I am premenopausal and was wondering if anyone thought that taking Mucinex made the symptoms worse. Overall, Mucinex works for me."

For Fibromyalgia "I have been using guaifenesin for 10 years now. Like my doctor said, I had initial relief, then cycled between feeling worse and better, and now my CFS/Fibro is much milder than it was. I avoid salicylates, but accidental exposure isn't a disaster, since I am not a strong blocker. For me, it works best just before or just after mild exercise, like a 1-mile walk to work or mowing the lawn. I take 1/4 of a COSTCO 400 mg tablet whenever I feel Fibro pain or before anticipated exercise or after unexpected exercise."

For Fibromyalgia "I didn’t read about it first. I took guaifenesin for a cold, and I started feeling so much better about my fibromyalgia pain. Then I researched it. Guaifenesin kind of cleanses the tips of the nerves and releases the knots. I felt the relief immediately, but other people say it takes time. It’s great."

For Fibromyalgia "Following 6 months of chronic pain and fatigue, I was finally diagnosed with fibromyalgia in September 2017. I'm a 19-year-old male. I was bedridden and felt my life was over. I found the guaifenesin protocol after many hours of Google research. It works exactly as it says. I was completely pain and fatigue-free for 3 days after the 4th day of taking it. I spiraled back into it until about a week ago. I am completely pain and fatigue-free. I'm getting my life back. Thank goodness for Dr. St. Armand's protocol. It seriously works!"

Guaifenesin for Cough "I had a cough, runny nose, allergies. Then lungs got congested and major wheezing. Normally, I will just take cetirizine when it's allergy season, but this time my chest was in play. I looked all over the house for my bottle of Mucinex. Couldn't find it. I suffered for a couple of days with a nasty cough and gook in my lungs, trying to sleep and make it through the day. After realizing I left it at our second home, I headed for the store. Bought the 1200 mg time release (1st time), usually, I would get the 600 mg. Within an hour, the wheezing stopped. I am writing this comment because it works fabulously for me. I have told many of my friends, and it has worked for them. Not one complaint. When I have chest congestion, I will always take Mucinex. It truly works. For those that say it doesn't work, I find that hard to believe."

For Fibromyalgia "This is the only treatment that has helped my fibromyalgia for a prolonged period. Read Dr. St. Amand's book and follow it to a tee, and you will improve. Be patient and pay attention to how you feel, and you will know if you are blocking. Dosage amount was obvious for me, and I continue to get better."

For Fibromyalgia "This OTC medicine saved me from the worst chronic pain phase from fibromyalgia that I have ever dealt with in the 17 years living with fibromyalgia. I was absolutely shocked to read that an over-the-counter medicine like Mucinex could possibly relieve the pain/stiffness in my hips and lower back. Since I never catch respiratory viruses, I never have taken guaifenesin. The very first dose eliminated at least 80% of the back/hip pain. By the 3rd day, taking only a 600 mg time-released dose, 2x a day, at 12 hours apart, it has given me mobility and pain-free hours that I have not experienced in years. Simply incredible! The only other medicine I take is hydrocodone at 5 mg per dose, as needed. I've been on this opioid for over 9 years on and off. Bad days I would need it every 4 hours. Now with the guaifenesin, I have hopes to be totally off opioid pain medicine completely very soon."

Guaifenesin for Cough "Actually, I was using Mucinex to control a nagging nighttime cough. Although I had extreme pain in my ankles and legs EVERY SINGLE DAY, I never dreamed that Mucinex would have any effect in helping that. I took a dose of the Mucinex FastMax just before I went to bed, and WOW, no cough AND no leg pain at all that night, at last, I was pain-free! I know it had to be the Mucinex because absolutely nothing else had made a difference! I will keep some on hand to use from now on. I hope this helps someone else also. Thank you."

Guaifenesin for Bronchiectasis "Mucinex is great. I was taking all kinds of medications for a pulmonary problem. Went to Mayo Clinic for the problem. I have bronchiectasis and was told to never take an antihistamine but to use Mucinex, a decongestant. I never looked back. When a doctor tells me to take an antihistamine, I say no. One time I took an antihistamine and had problems for three months. Never again."

Guaifenesin for Bronchitis "I have moderate COPD. Got some kind of crud (I call it) in my chest and was coughing and so sick. Couldn't cough up anything but knew it was there. Took regular Mucinex generic label. Felt like I was drowning. Post-nasal drip putting fluid in my lungs, and I was drowning. Please go to the doctor if this sounds like you - it turned out I had community-acquired pneumonia."
