Glutamine for Sickle Cell Anemia "After discharge from a long stay, my doctor added this to my Hydroxyurea. I gave it a chance, and it was a little gritty at first, but after a month I felt more energy and have not been back to the E.R. for over a year. I was changed to the generic, and it never kicked in and caused something I had not had since a kid. Trying to get back on the brand ASAP. My doctor says I need the brand Endari, and other people in my support group experienced the same on the cheaper stuff."

For Dietary Supplementation "After using L-Glutamine powder in my water, as recommended by my primary care physician for muscle cramps in my legs, I experienced very bad adverse side effects. These side effects included dizziness, nausea, diarrhea, and confusion. I became very weak from the diarrhea and am still trying to recover. My body is sensitive to a lot of substances, and this was no exception. It has been recommended for muscle cramps in my legs, mostly at night, to take a little mustard. I did this last night and slept much better, without muscle cramp. Just sharing my experience, which I know will not affect everyone."

For Dietary Supplementation "After taking L-Glutamine 500 mg 3x/day for about 1 week, I experienced a 3-hour episode of transient global amnesia (confusion and loss of memory) and ended up in the ER. CT scan, labs, and EEG were all negative, and they could not discover anything wrong with me. I cannot say this amnesia episode was due to L-Glutamine, but it was the only new thing in my diet/supplements. I have been told I am very sensitive to medications and easily experience negative side effects, so maybe that's a contributing cause."

For Dietary Supplementation "I've been taking it for years, on and off. No noticeable side effects. It seems to help me recover after workouts faster; however, it could just be placebo. Even if it induces the placebo effect, that's good enough for me to take it."

For Dietary Supplementation "I take glutamine when I feel extremely sore from exercise. I take one capsule a day only when needed, and I also take 4 capsules of creatine daily. I have no adverse effects, and it does help me recover."

For Dietary Supplementation "Found it repairs muscle tears from working out. Helps to maintain and increase size and strength. When taken at night before bed, it improves my mood in the morning."
