Gabapentin enacarbil "Horizant has been so effective for my RLS. I have received full relief which I never got on my prior medication. I used to wait for the 24-hour period to lapse so I could get my next dose of the prior RLS med. I would need to walk around and pace until the med worked and did not get full coverage into the morning hours. I take Horizant in 2 doses at night (300 mg at 6:30 pm and 600 mg at 8:30 pm) and this dosage has fully relieved my jittery, bouncy, fidgety legs. I can sleep without the prior symptoms and sleep through the night. It is a blessing."

"I had sudden permanent hearing loss in one ear while taking Neurontin/Gabapentin at 1:30 a.m., March 2, 2004. I was also taking the pain medication Hydrocodone/Lortab. I used both for 1 1/2 years for pain after back fusion. After a pharmacist told me it could cause hearing loss, I discontinued using it. I have met others who also had this hearing loss while taking the medication. Others had less severe hearing loss. At the time, side effects for this medication listed the chances for this happening as one out of 300, saying it was rare. Another listed it as one out of 1,000. This doesn't appear to be a rare incidence."

Gabapentin enacarbil "I have suffered from RLS since 2007. I started taking pramipexole, then switched over to the Neupro patch, which left me with second-degree burns. My insurance left me hanging for 3-1/2 weeks to get approval for Horizant, I was miserable by the time I finally received the medication. I started at 300 mg and then increased up to 600 mg the following week. I'm starting to feel better and hoping this will work."

"I have had RLS for over 20 years. I have been taking pramipexole (Mirapex) for several years, which works great for me, except I experience augmentation, which causes me to have to increase my dosage. I just tried using Horizant, and after 5 days so far, this drug has not worked for me. I'm going to try giving it a few more days, but then it's back to pramipexole for me. I need sleep."

"I have been taking a combination of gabapentin and Requip for 20 years after a lower back injury. I have cleared up the pain from the injury of the lower back, but still have to take the combination of the two drugs, and so for 20 years, I have had no side effects. The drugs work great for me. My doctors recently retired, and now I have a total quack that says she knows best and has been trying to reduce the Requip by 1/2 and the gabapentin by 1/2 also. It will be so hard on me if she does."
