"I've taken this med for a little over two years now, along with Clomipramine. It really helped a lot in the beginning, relieved general anxiety disorder and many OCD symptoms. You have to give it a chance, meaning the first few weeks you may feel sick and emotional lows, but it really helps after a while. It cured my GAD, and again it helps my OCD, but not 100 percent. Still better than the previous meds I tried, like Zoloft and Paxil, those never helped me. I'm currently still on it, but I may try another med because it does make me sleepy often now. If nothing else helps with OCD like this med, then I will stay on it. I'd recommend trying it."

Fluvoxamine "I've been on it for 2 months for my anxiety, and it's working pretty fine, but I've decreased libido and low sexual drive, and it's concerning for a young guy to have this sort of side effects. I am gonna consult my doctor about this."

"Was put on a combination of Luvox and Prozac because Prozac was keeping me up. Luvox made my anxiety worse than before any medication. I was extremely agitated, and even the sound of a vacuum nearby would make me tear up because it just seemed too overwhelming, and I needed every ounce of strength in me to not scream out my frustration. Didn't work for me at all, but everyone is different."

"The lifesaver for those suffering from all kinds of anxiety, stress, and OCD. I was suffering from hyperventilation-triggered anxiety and vice versa, which caused high-burden PVCs due to excessive levels of anxiety for approximately three years. After starting this drug, I experienced a reduction of symptoms from the very next day, but for magic to happen, you have to take it for at least six months, this varies from person to person. The only side effect I felt was drowsiness during work, which can be managed. Of course, a small amount of sacrifice for an exceptional benefit."

Fluvoxamine "My son was prescribed this for anxiety and racing thoughts. Helped initially with improved mood, but very tired. After a week or two, noticed an increase in impulsive behavior: lying, stealing, cheating, rudeness. Sleep remained reduced, and diarrhea and headaches. We have finally reduced it off, but still quite emotional."

"I started 25 mg with no issues, but have gone up to 50 mg after 2 weeks. At 50 mg, my anxiety has more than doubled. My panic is off the charts, and I can’t sleep. I’ve been at 50 mg for 2 1/2 weeks and tend to feel worse by the day. I’ll be discontinuing this medication. It did help my obsessive thoughts after 2 weeks, but the increase in panic is unbearable for me. It was not sedating for me at all."

Fluvoxamine "My daughter started on Prozac in March, and a few days later, her anxiety went so high that she was admitted to the hospital, and the doctor changed her diagnosis and gave her four different meds. She came home with more anxiety and panic and more side effects from the meds. After three weeks, she started taking Luvox, and from seven weeks, her anxiety and panic went a little under control. She has been on several SSRIs, and she gets severe side effects from all of them. She has MDD, GAD, and panic disorder for the last seven years. She is so tired and exhausted from not getting good sleep, and not at ease at all! The first doctor who prescribed Prozac didn’t help her with her anxiety. Now we switched to another doctor, and he wants her to stay on Luvox until esketamine starts. If anyone has suggestions, please let me know."

"I was taking this for 5 months, and it lowered my anxiety and made me not obsess with derealization, but the sexual side effects and emotional numbing were just too much. I stopped taking it, but sexual dysfunction persisted even after 1 and a half years of being free from this drug."

"So I was put on this medication for my anxiety and depression (as well as possible OCD). Transition from my last antidepressant to this one was a nightmare. I had really strange side effects. And now that I've been on this for about a month, rather than obsessing about things, I just don't care. Especially regarding my schoolwork, I've been procrastinating a lot lately and haven't even turned in some of my work, which is stressing me out... I don't know, we'll see how this continues, I guess."

Fluvoxamine "I’m on fluvoxamine for depression. It helped with it and with my bad thoughts, but it gave me severe sexual problems, so I'm forced to switch. It only started to be helpful after a month, and also it can give you sleep problems and anxiety (just at the start, like the first 2 weeks). But the sexual problems are still there even if my depression has been better, but still not cured. So I’m switching now."

"Started on LUVOX (brand name) in '96. LUVOX (brand name) is not made anymore. Switched to generic fluvoxamine (Apotex brand) in 2000. Worked great. Stopped working COLD as of late 2013. Wrote FDA, Solvay tested my prescription, said nothing wrong. All the other generic fluvoxamines (5) I've tried are worthless. Apotex must have changed its composition of the drug, i.e., filling, binder ingredients. Filed reports with FDA & Solvay (parent of Apotex). Solvay wrote back, 'Nothing is wrong.' Drug is totally ineffective on me now, as are all the other fluvoxamine generics I've tried. Only side effect was a bit of drowsiness. Have had to abandon taking this drug and am in the midst of trying other drugs."

Fluvoxamine "I have suffered from panic attacks for 12 years and was recently diagnosed with OCD. My doctor prescribed me Luvox (20 mg). I was very hopeful that this drug would help with all the worrying I do. On day 4 of the medicine, I had panic attacks for HOURS. I’d have one and then 10-15 minutes later have another. I ended up calling 911 because I thought I was dying (it’s been years since I had panic attacks as bad as this). I also ended up at the ER where the panic attacks would not stop. I will not take another pill of this."

Fluvoxamine "So I loved this at first - did wonders for my depression and anxiety, but then as soon as I increased the dosage, I had insane constipation and stomach issues. Talking 3-4 days and intense bloating, hard to concentrate or be at work, etc. When I would skip a dose to fix my stomach, I’d have a bad headache for half the day. Just a lose-lose on everything but my anxiety and depression. Now, will be going off, sadly. Watch out for stomach issues!"

"I took this med for a week before I decided it wasn’t worth it for me. I have generalized anxiety disorder and depression. My doctor prescribed this off-label as we wanted to try one more SSRI before switching to something else, and my experience was not pleasant. The worst side effect I experienced was insomnia. There were two nights where I only slept for 1 1/2 hours and was so incredibly fatigued and muscle aches the whole time I took it. I also experienced worsened anxiety and rumination almost every day and tremors as if I had the flu."

"My doctor put me on this medication because she was unwilling to give me Xanax or any medication in its category for my anxiety. Five days ago, I started taking this medication at 50 mg at night. The second day, I noticed a numb feeling in my mouth and trouble falling asleep. On the third day, I noticed an unwillingness to get off my recliner. I didn't want to do anything. By the fourth day, I was having cold sweats and throwing up! So sick to my stomach, which made me more depressed. No thanks! I threw it in the garbage and called the pharmacy to refill my Lexapro."

"I have very bad OCD. Specifically, health anxiety and intrusive thoughts. I went from 50 mg to 100 mg in about 4 months. My panic about my health and my insane intrusive thoughts literally disappeared. Luvox made me feel normal. But I became homeless after crappy life events for 3 months, so I had to wean myself off. I knew I couldn’t afford it in that time period. Now that I’m no longer homeless, I actually just took a 100 mg tablet from my leftovers pill bottle from July of this year (2021). Side effects: I’m tired as anything! Lol. Definitely makes me very drowsy and relaxed. I was having panic (OCD caused) right before I took the pill. Definitely try this out if you have bad OCD!"

"Used in low dose to treat anxiety. Works well. No known significant side effects for me. It has drastically helped me manage my anxiety. Makes me a little sleepy, so I take it at night right before bed. However, sometimes it can have the opposite effect on energy levels."

"I have OCD and anxiety disorder since I was 13. Started Fluvox when I was 19, and the first day taking it, the side effects immediately hit me. I got serotonin syndrome and was hallucinating. My pupils were huge, I felt so loopy and depressed. Gave me a panic attack and made me so paranoid...."

"I just began this med, and it's 3:00 AM. Mind you, I took my first pill at 2:00 PM the previous day. Personally, I do not like it! I cannot sleep, my mouth is dry, and very restless. My anxiety and compulsive (overthinking things) thoughts are overwhelming. I'm going to rate this medication poor with my experience. It's not my cup of tea."

"I started taking Luvox since April 2021. Started with 50 mg and gradually increased to 150 mg now. I can only sleep for long hours now. But other than that, I still don't feel any difference in my anxiety and my depressive mood. In fact, it gets worse week by week. I was consuming Pristiq previously for nearly 2 years, and I stopped taking it last year. It was very effective, and it worked for me."

"This medication has not helped with my stress or anxiety. I have been on it for two years. It helped me with issues of being scared and depressed, but other than that, it hasn't worked for what I needed it for."

"Tried it for 3 weeks after citalopram. I liked citalopram a lot, but had some unwanted side effects. Unfortunately, fluvoxamine has much worse side effects for me. Nausea/vertigo all day to the point where I'm ineffective at anything. I'm stopping fluvoxamine and going back to citalopram."

"This didn’t work for me. I’ve been on it for almost 2 months after being on mirtazapine for months. I feel exactly how I felt before taking any medicine. My anxiety is nonstop even when I’m sleeping. I’m back to having derealization again, and I’m constantly tired and unmotivated and a little paranoid because of my severe anxiety. But medicine works differently for everyone, so give it a chance. :) The only crappy side effect in the beginning is being nauseous and having no appetite, but it eventually goes away!!"

"I was recently changed from 50 mg of Luvox to 100 mg CR, and within two days, I have had to urinate so often that I went to the doctor thinking I had a UTI. No, it’s an uncommon side effect of Luvox. That, along with the GI issues, means off this medicine and onto the next."

"Fluvoxamine worked great with my anxiety, but took a while to work. It helped me rationalize my thoughts better because it took away the physical symptoms of anxiety and stopped my panic attacks. However, the memory loss and lethargy that came with it affected me so much that I decided to stop. It would occasionally cause brain fog and dissociation."
