"So my story is a little different. I went to the dermatologist to have a tiny mole cut off my eyebrow, which was not even noticeable. The girls working there were running a special on a lunchtime chemical face peel, so I nicely bought one package that came with three peels. The first one was 40 percent, which I did, and it was fine. The second one, 60 percent, burned a little, nothing bad. Two weeks later, my face was getting worse, like severe burns. I'm already medium dark-skinned. Well, it wouldn't heal, so I go back very upset. Nothing wrong with my face before these peels. I'm 35, never really had face issues. So the dermatologist says it caused my pigmentation to reverse, causing the dark spots, and prescribed me Tri-Luma. It was $280, plus I will have to use special sunblock for the rest of my life. Keep in mind, I paid them to do this to my face, basically. The cream bleaches your skin in spots on the surface, so it takes more makeup to cover and even out. After six weeks, my Tri-Luma cream smells like it has gone off."

"This cream is not covered by my insurance. Walgreens charges $265.00 a tube, I got it for $185.00 with a coupon from the company. I've used it for 3 months and cannot see a difference, and the Dr. told me it would take about 8 weeks to clear up the melasma. I am very disappointed in the Tri-Luma cream."

"Is this product a few years ago, then the company stopped making it. Was very disappointed because the results are awesome. Want to see my derm, she said the pharmaceutical company is making Tri-Luma again, and 4 days later my face is completely clear. I was advised to continue to wear my sunscreen and hats."

"I have had melasma for the past year and tried Clear and Brilliant first, but that turned the brown spots into dark grey, almost black, color. I was desperate for anything else to improve the appearance. My dermatologist prescribed Tri-Luma, and in 4 weeks, it worked like magic! I couldn't believe how it completely cleared up my skin. However, after I stopped using it, the spots returned quickly. Back to square one since Tri-Luma isn't a long-term maintenance solution."

"I went to a dermatologist to start back on laser treatment for my dark patches, and she recommended I try this first before spending the money. I’ve had so many people mention how great my skin looks. My skin was getting really bad after a summer of being outdoors. I’m approaching 50, and I don’t think my skin has looked this good since my 30s after spending thousands of dollars worth of laser treatment for the same thing."

"A complete rip-off. The price of this medication was a huge concern to begin with. My dermatologist was not even enthusiastic when I asked about Tri-Luma. I should have taken note of this. This medication is almost $200 and only faded my melasma on 3 separate parts of my face. I will not ever use this medication again or waste any money on it."

"First, let me say I have struggled with melasma for the better part of 20 years and have tried everything I could find. OTC, homeopathic, and a few RX. I recently saw Tri-Luma while again I was searching for a cure. My doctor phoned in the RX, and I have been using it for just over a month now. It is quite expensive, but compared to all the money I have spent and had no results, I decided to give it a try. The results have been phenomenal! Better than I had even hoped. I just picked up my second tube."

"I have been using Tri-Luma for 1 week. I have lived with melasma for the past 25 years. The melasma started due to birth control, sunbathing, and got worse when I tried to get rid of fine lines with a chemical peel a few years back. I never tried to get rid of the melasma because my mother suffered from it ever since I can remember. My mother spent thousands on trying to get rid of melasma patches, and I just thought it wasn’t ever going away. My mom used an Avon cream to get rid of hers, but it took her 10 years of religiously using it to finally have clear skin. I have melasma on my cheeks and on both sides of my forehead. I am Hispanic with a medium skin tone, cream color. After 7 days, the melasma is starting to go away! I’m in disbelief! Others have noticed! Worth the $236 I paid at Walmart. If you have an FSA or HSA card, it should be covered."

"Tri-Luma only works temporarily. I have been suffering from melasma since the last five years. I did a few chemical peels, and it faded away but came back again. I always use sunscreen, which I usually buy from the dermatologist's office. But this spot always comes back. My dermatologist gave me Tri-Luma. I have used it for the last two months. My melasma faded away temporarily, but within a week it came back the same as before. When I saw all these reviews, I was so excited that my melasma would go away. I believe all these are paid reviews. Buying these products is wasting your money. Do not buy these products."

"Had a really bad experience with Tri-Luma. Had read cases where patients' pigmentation got worse post-application, and despite being positive and giving it a shot, unfortunately, the same happened with me too. The pigmentation darkened and spread to other regions of my face too. Quite unhappy, dissatisfied, and feeling low."

"Wow, all I have to say is this Tri-Luma works! I exposed my skin to several hours of sun by accident, and my melasma was horrendous!! Got my script for this, and within 1 week I’ve noticed a change, after 2, very significant change. You need to follow directions and how to use. This is a miracle cream in a bottle and worth every penny! You will spend more on other stuff overall. This is an all-in-one cream!"

"I have been suffering with melasma for around 11 years. I have tried many other products and wasted a lot of money. I found Tri-Luma on the internet and decided to give it a go. Oh wow!!! I have been using it for 2 weeks and my melasma has faded. I love this cream. I will definitely be purchasing it again even though it is quite pricey. I recommend Tri-Luma cream to anyone who suffers from melasma."

"My dermatologist recommended this product. As a teenager, I was diagnosed with eczema/atopic dermatitis. I would have experienced breakouts of it, I no longer experience breakouts, however, I remained with dark spots all over my body, main problem area-my legs. I am now 30 years old. My now dermatologist rediagnosed me with lichen planus and indicated that it would take approximately 3 series of treatments to experience results. I used the product faithfully for a little over 6-8 weeks and I see zero improvement thus far. I am to return to the doctor for a review and prescription."

"I purchased my Tri-Luma from India. I've been using it for 2 weeks, and I can see a difference already. Prior to using Tri-Luma, I used Obagi. It worked, but as soon as I stopped using it, my scars would return worse, and the Obagi was 100.00 a bottle, and I needed #3, 4, 5!! My Tri-Luma was 33.00, go figure. I also purchased hydroquinone for 7.99 a tube."

"My melasma finally got me to the point where I had to go to someone because all of the creams that I have tried over the past two years just did not prove to be effective. Upon going to the dermatologist, I was told that because this is a cosmetic condition, it would not be covered under insurance, so Tri-Luma was recommended before I moved on to possibly laser treatment. I was able to get the prescription at a discounted price of $200 and began using it immediately. At first, I felt that it was making positive strides until after a few days when my skin really began to turn red as a reaction. I began doing research and found that some people need to back off the medication a day or two in between use while your skin is getting used to the ingredients of the medication. I leveled off using it every other day for a while, and the results were astonishing after two months. Major change was noted. I am still using it and will see it through the entire recommended dosage."

"The jury is still out on this as I have been using it faithfully following the directions for the past 7 weeks. I will try turning off the lights after I apply it at night, noting a previous poster's instructions. My husband says he notices a difference, but I'm not real sure. I left the box out from the refrigerator a couple of times, but I've read that may not reduce its effectiveness. I certainly hope not. My melasma is light, but I have 3 spots that are troublesome, one on the forehead and two above the upper lip. The two on the upper lip seem to be lightening, but again, it is hard to tell. The one on my forehead seems to persist, and I think after two months it should be more noticeable. I'll finish this month out and see what happens. It is ill-advised to use this product for long-term, so I won't."

"I've been using Tri-Luma for six months for my mustache, with poor results. The skin above my upper lip is now very sensitive and itchy. This cream is very expensive, and my opinion is that it is totally not worth it. The cream was prescribed by a dermatologist. Not worth the money."

"This cream will only work when you apply it. Once you stop, hyperpigmentation reappears even faster than it disappeared. Means that you have to use it for the rest of your life."

"Tri-Luma works great. Have been using it for post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. Only thing is that just as soon as you stop using it, the dark areas come back."

"I had dark spots on my nose, forehead, and chin. I used a cream almost every night for 1.5 months and spots disappeared. It has been almost 7 years, and I noticed small spots on my cheek and neck, so I am going to try again."
