Allegra (fexofenadine) "This is really a question than a comment. The question is for "Trac" who was going to post the results of his treatment, it was a while ago May 5, 2018. I am interested to know how and if it was treated. Thanks!"

"Went to pharmacist this morning after suffering continuous sneezing , itchy eyes and nose running like a tap. He gave me fexofenadine 180 and said it would work. I have now taken the correct dose of tablets since this morning and absolutely no improvement . I'm desperate. Tried other anthistamines before this and they don't work either."

"So I used to use Over the Counter antihistamines but recently they’ve become ineffective. The Doctors prescribed me with fexofenadine and it did not do anything at all. I’m struggling really hard because I’m bed ridden most of the day because all the sneezing is causing pains in my body from all the strain. I’ve gone back to trialing over the counter medication."

Allegra (fexofenadine) "I have suffered from cold hives for about 10 years now and till this day I have not found a solution. Allegra does nothing for me. I take about two allegras everytime I step out my house and still get hives all over my face and body. Thats more than the recommended dosage for 180mg. I still have hope that theres a cure somewhere out there"

"Took Telfast 180mg. Gives some relief for allergies but the side effects are horrible. Severe headache, anxiety, agitation, dry eyes, intense nightmares, insomnia, aches and pains, exhaustion. I was a terrified angry mess on it that could not sleep or focus."

"Been suffering from chronic idiopathic spontanous uritacaria for 3 months now. Drs prescribed this after I had taken week prednisolone and ranitidine (zantac). I started on 120mg which didn't work then drs increased my dosage to 180mg twice a day that did not work. I've just not bothered taking it unless necessary now and I think benadryl gives me slight comfort. Fexofenadrine is absolutely useless for me. This was the same medication I was given last summer due to hayfever and it did not work at all. Terrible"

"Effective for my dermatitis or ezcema and hives. It does take away the sneezy, watery nose and itchy eyes. I have been taking it for two weeks daily. Currently, my allergies are so terribly bad that I itch everywhere, even in my groin; it is embarassing. So I am stuck with this 180mg med. I used to have UV light therapy which helped greatly. Now I live away from my dermatologist. I don't know what is worse, the anxiety side effects or my constant itching and redness on my skin, which sometimes turns brown when scratched. Pinetarsol soaks in a bath-tub helps temporarily. Any heat and sweatiness brings the urticaria back. Some pred cream prescribed doesn't really solve the problem. I really wonder what is the cause and the immunologist, dermatologist and GP can't tell me. Just saying that its pollens, creams, food and a host of other stuff causing it plus stress. I wonder whether I can take the COVID vaccine with such a problem. It's been 10 years of suffering."

"Had hives now for just about over a year, it is only caused by heat nothing else, never changed my diet I’m fit and healthy and train 5/6 times a week at the gym, obviously the hives outbreaks are horrendous as it covers my whole body except my face. I been taking fexofenadine 180mg for almost 6 months and no use at all if anything it makes it less itchy but the rash is worse , I’m going to start taking two in the morning from now and see what happens.."

"Fexofenadine was first prescribed to me for chronic urticaria with angiodema five years ago by a private Dr in the UK. Symptoms disappeared for five years but came back this summer. Have since moved to France and was worried I wouldn’t be able to find this drug but thankfully I’m back on it to control the misery that is living with hives/angiodema. More than that - it’s actually a wonder drug for me.....honestly couldn’t live without it!"

"This medication has teduced the hives and swellings I get when touching cold items like keys, refrigerated vegetables and frozen foods. It has also reduced my skin's reaction to touch and pressure. I have noticed though that my skin on my face is getting 'rougher' and not as soft as it was before I started taking the medication 4 month's ago."

"It is nearly one year I am suffering from Urticaria. It is true that MD's don't know what causes it. Allegra (Fexofenadine) it the only medicine that works for me. Again it works differently with other people. However, 180g morning and night is a recommended dose. This is expert dermatologist advised my GP for me. E45 itch relief (Urea Lauromacrogols) Also helps for immediate itch relief."

"I get severe swelling (angioedema) from bee stings. The last sting was on my right hand which swelled up so bad I couldn't bend the fingers or use the hand at all. The forearm also swelled up. The doctor gave me fexofenadine and a strong antihistamine cream. Within two days the swelling was almost gone, and by the third day everything was back to normal, whereas usually it takes a week. Also, while taking the medicine I hardly had any itching from the venom. As I was using a cream in combination with the medicine I can't say it was all due to the fexofenadine but for sure it helped a lot. In addition, I had no side effects at all, which is unusual as usually I develop at least one or two when taking medicines. I will use this again if needed."

"I experienced facial hives for the first time at age 55, possibly due to a new face cream containing bee venom. I discontinued the face cream but found that changing products and even using no facial products still caused urticaria. I was prescribed 180mg Fexofenadine which cleared the urticaria immediately. My pharmacist said it was safe to take daily indefinitely. I have been taking this drug for six months now until my GP advised me to stop taking it today. I have also put on 8kg in weight in the last six months and did not realise that there may be a connection with the Fexofenadine. I’ve just read that antihistamines can increase one’s appetite. I had put the weight gain down to the menopause and poor will- power. My asthma has also got worse in recent weeks and my dreams are more vivid than ever. No idea if Fexofenadine is responsible. Let’s see how the next few months pan out."

Allegra (fexofenadine) "I’m 54, have been suffering with chronic hives since I was 9 (1979). I’ve had tests done and biopsies done and nothing. Chemotherapy was supposed to knock it out and did for a while but came back. Benadryl did not help at all. I heard about Allegra and tried it. Within an hour, I felt so much better but had breakthrough hives. I also suffer from anaphylaxis shock. If they get on my lip, I assure you, it’s headed towards my throat. I got one on my lip after I had taken Allegra, but it quickly went away. So very thankful for this medication. I’m also required to carry an EpiPen in case of emergencies."
