For Urinary Frequency "Works great for the urinary problem but created a whole lot of other issues. Severe weight gain, anxiety (moody), constipation, etc. Taking 4 mg every other day, I was up to 1 to 2 hours but still had issues. Up it to 4 mg daily is when I really noticed the above. Not a good fit for me."

For Urinary Frequency "I was prescribed Toviaz for overactive bladder. I was going through 3-4 heavy pads almost every day. Since I started taking it, my urinary output has decreased, I have hardly any leakage, but the dry mouth is unbearable, and it has elevated my blood pressure so high my doctor increased my meds. I have blurred vision, and I’m so jittery inside, and I can feel my heart pounding. I’m done with Toviaz. The side effects aren’t worth it!"

For Urinary Frequency "This drug worked pretty well except for the side effects. I was on 4 mg. I had to take it before bed because it made me so sleepy. The dry mouth I could handle. But I walked around in a fog all day and gained 5 lbs in 3 weeks! I hate to come off it because running water at the sink doesn’t make me pee anymore, lol. I actually have to remind myself to go or I don’t go all day."

For Urinary Frequency "I've been taking 8 mg Toviaz for several years now. Dry mouth, constipation, dizziness, and initially nausea have been side effects. I've had weight gain, but being on other meds, I'm not sure if Toviaz has been a contributing factor for the weight gain. Toviaz has worked very well for my overactive bladder until recently when I began taking Primidone for tremors. I will discuss this with my doctors to see if Primidone may be causing the Toviaz to be less effective. Also, even with my health insurance, Toviaz is very expensive. Talk with your doctor; weigh the pros/cons for yourself to decide if it's worth taking. I have to say it's been worth it for me. Instead of getting up 4-6 times during the night to urinate, I may get up 1 time while on it."

For Urinary Frequency "Toviaz really helped control bladder, but I, personally, experienced extreme dry throat and mouth constantly to the point of dehydration and was always freezing cold, which is very unusual for me. I drank tons of water and unsweet tea, neither helped. Finally, I gave up taking it, and my hydration returned to normal. I think I will go back to my oxybutynin until I see my MD for a different med."

For Urinary Frequency "I was taking Toviaz 4 mg, and that wasn't working for my bladder pressure. I doubled the dose and had some relief, but the pressure wasn't totally gone. I get severe dry mouth and constipation. I have also noticed weight gain-about 7 pounds in 3 months, even with exercising."

For Urinary Frequency "I was prescribed 4 mg of Toviaz after Detrol LA (didn't work) and Vesicare (didn't work- in creased dosage made me extremely tired). It seemed to work great at first. I was able to get 4-5 hours of sleep in a row without waking. However, the effects diminished around the 7-8 week mark, especially at night. I even changed my diet and followed the 'Your Way' plan. I'm trying the 8 mg dosage today. I do like how Pfizer gives you a discount card. I pay only $5 out-of-pocket a month."

For Urinary Frequency "I have tried 4 different medicines for overactive bladder, and I can tell you this works. I am sleeping much better since I do not have to get up every hour to run to the bathroom. I have only taken this for two weeks. Thank you, Pfizer."

For Urinary Frequency "I only took this drug once, and I was ill for 2 weeks! First day, my throat was horribly dry and scratchy. Water did NOT help. Second day, I lost my voice, and it stayed gone for three days. The mucus in my throat became unbearable. Then came a throat infection that went to my ears, and then it settled in my chest. Could not get rid of this! Two rounds of antibiotics and prednisone, and it's finally gone. I would NOT recommend this drug. Oh, and by the way, I haven't had a cold or flu for decades, so that was NOT what I had."

For Urinary Frequency "I was prescribed Wellbutrin for depression, that in turn has a side effect of overactive bladder for which I was prescribed Toviaz. The Toviaz DID stop the pain and overactive-ness of my bladder at night, however, I also now have some pretty serious relentless heartburn that I cannot get rid of from taking the Toviaz for only 2 days. I did not buy a full prescription, my doctor gave me a sample pack for 1 week, but I cannot continue, the heartburn is too horrible, and NOTHING is taking it away. I am also very constipated from it, so I am stopping the Toviaz and reducing the dosage of the Wellbutrin. HOPEFULLY this will help!! It really sucks getting pills that help with this, yet you have to take more pills to counteract the side effects, and it just seems to snowball."

For Urinary Incontinence "I started Toviaz 4 mg about a month ago. It seemed to work a lot better than the other medications, but caused severe dry mouth. With time, the dry mouth subsided, but then I started the 8 mg dose. I have been on it for about a month, and I find I have dry mouth and insomnia, but the medication works so well, I am going to see if side effects improve with a little more time."

For Urinary Frequency "Started on Toviaz 4 mg three weeks ago. Side effects appear to be headaches and dry mouth. The drug is helping, and I am managing better, but not too happy at the thought of taking this for the rest of my life (I’m only 63). Asked GP for alternatives, do not want the TVT (a sling surgery procedure) operation!"

For Urinary Frequency "I had a very severe bladder infection that caused bladder spasms, so my doctor gave me samples of the 4 mg Toviaz. It definitely worked. I was able to urinate only when needed and was not running to the bathroom every time I took a few sips of liquid. I was actually able to make it through 6 hours of sleep! My only problem is that after about 12 hours the urges to urinate begin to increase again. I wish they had a shorter-acting product that could be taken every 12 hours instead of every 24 because my body seems to metabolize it very quickly. It would be nice to take it when I got up and again in the evening."

For Urinary Incontinence "Had to come off Toviaz due to side effects. Referred to the consultant, and she has re-prescribed again to work in conjunction with another 'wee stopper.' Headaches back again! Not sure that the consultant listened to me when I reported initial side effects? Will persevere for a fortnight, but again, I do not want to take this medication for the rest of my life."

For Urinary Frequency "I take Toviaz for 2 years now. It really helps with bladder urgency. The side effects I get are weight gain, slight vision impairment, and extreme dry mouth. Nothing helps for dry mouth. I have sipped water and use biotin. By far, the extreme dry mouth is the worst. Considering the alternative, I will stay on Toviaz. But I wish I could get rid of the extreme dry mouth."

For Urinary Frequency "Was on Toviaz 4 mg for almost 2 weeks, the 4th day I had sharp pains on the left side of my chest, extreme belching/burping, scared me, couldn’t sleep, went to the doctor to have an EKG done and check my heart, came back okay, so the doctor said probably acid reflux, then started having headaches every day and neck pain, which I never get headaches. Looked online at the side effects of Toviaz, and the rare effects sounded just like my symptoms, so I quit, and in 2 days no pains, very little burping, and headaches are better. Still have neck pain, but it is less, so I’m thinking it was the Toviaz."

For Urinary Frequency "Toviaz worked very well for the first few weeks, but then started losing its effectiveness. I used to wake up 10 times a night to use the bathroom, and now I get up around 5 times a night. It causes dry mouth (which is especially bad during the night) and also makes me tired. Also, the best insurance plans typically won't cover this medication (I pay $70 for a one-month supply)."

For Urinary Frequency "I was given 8 mg samples by my physician and took one after dinner. I was up all night with a strong urge to urinate every 10 minutes, but only a few drops came out. The 2nd day and night were the same. Had to have a catheter placed on the 3rd day as the bladder was full-over 700 ml-and could not urinate at all. Took the catheter out after 5 days, but still could not urinate all day, and it was replaced late in the afternoon."

For Urinary Frequency "The medicine does its job. Although I experience severe dry mouth and nightmares. Nightmares weren't listed as a side effect, but my doctor knew about it and didn't tell me when he prescribed it. Nightmares are supposed to subside. After 6 weeks, I still have them a few times a week."

For Urinary Frequency "Been suffering from OAB for 3 years now. Toviaz seemed to work fine, I stopped it and then restarted it again, and now when I take it, I can't pee normally, like I never empty my bladder. Don't know if it's just at first and then it gets better. Gonna give it another shot."

For Urinary Frequency "My 10-year-old daughter with spina bifida uses it. The main thing that we have noticed is the dry mouth. Her lips are cracked, but we apply Carmex and increase fluid intake because the benefits outweigh the risks. A satisfied customer."

For Urinary Frequency "Worked great for 2 years. The dry mouth did pass, and I could go out with friends for a beer and have a coffee! But for some reason, it stopped working. Now on oxybutynin, colored 5 mg. Been taking that for 3 days so far, it isn't working. There goes my social life again."

For Urinary Frequency "I was given the 8 mg sample. By the second day, the medication began to work. I could not urinate for most of the day. It was a very annoying feeling to feel like you have to go and can't. I stopped taking the medication after the third day when I felt constipated."

For Urinary Incontinence "On Toviaz for almost 2 weeks, had sharp pain on the left side around the top of the breast and terrible belching and burping, then headaches that I never get and neck pain. Felt terrible and knew something was not right. Went to have an EKG done on my heart, looked good. Looked online and saw the severe side effects of Toviaz. I stopped immediately, and within a day or two, I was feeling almost back to normal."
