"Severe hip and back pain, spinal injections did no good. Dr. gave me samples of Duexis, and it worked wonders! Insurance would not pay and substituted ibuprofen and Pepcid. That resulted in severe indigestion. Finally, was able to get insurance to pay for Duexis! Whoever developed this medication is a genius! I am pain-free with one pill per day. I am 83!"

"Easy to take, no side effects, but did not relieve pain and discomfort as well as expected. Did not seem to be any more effective than Advil Liqui-Gels, which have been taken for the pain condition for several months."

"This medication has changed my life. I was in so much pain day and night that I had trouble sleeping. I didn't go places because my pain was so bad. Now I can sleep at night, and most important to me is that I can play with my grandchildren again."

"I have 5 lumbar 5 cervical bulging discs = left sciatic, left hip pain, bilateral wrist to above elbow pain. The pain is severe. Per MD orders, I took Duexis 7 days on/7 days off for two cycles. When I stop, within 3-4 days, pain makes my life dysfunctional. Within 2 days of starting, the pain decreases significantly. The drug is extremely expensive, so MD ordered 800 mg tablets ibuprofen and I bought over the counter 10 mg famotidine tabs. I have been taking that duo twice a day and the Duexis once a day. I am very reluctant to take this med long term because of my age (70), IBS, and possible liver/kidney problems. However, it is the ONLY regime right now that relieves the pain."

"Duexis is a great medicine, but my insurance does not cover it. The cost is $2800.00 a month. Yes, the decimal point is in the correct place. How can these drug companies live with themselves? I can’t afford that."

"DUEXIS prescription medication has been a miracle drug for me over the last couple of years. I was in the middle of a 5-car pile-up on a major highway accident a couple of years ago, and was experiencing significant lower back pain for the first time in my life. My primary care physician suggested Duexis because x-rays showed visible arthritis in my back. This great drug combination is a patented formulation that is not the same as buying ibuprofen and famotidine over the counter. I wish the average person would learn what I just said, but sometimes it's hard to find correct information. Duexis has been very good for removing my pains, and I have very good regular visits with my doctor, but I am seeing some side effects over the years. I usually take just one pill a day now, but after reading these reviews, I will also reduce it to 7 days on/7 days off. I will soon be 59."

"Duexis works for my arthritis and spinal degeneration/spurs. No issues with recurrence of stomach ulcers. However, the cost is so high until deductibles are met, it makes it prohibitive. At retirement, I will not have insurance at all and will not be able to afford."

"As a lunch lady, I use my hands extensively and they ache! Also have severe arthritis in my AC joints. I tried many cheap, generic meds for OA, with no relief. Doc gave me a sample pack of Duexis and I've been taking it ever since. Only thing that works for me. With the co-pay coupon that is offered, it's a no-brainer!"

"I have arthritis in my left hip. I've been using this drug for a very short period of time, and I must say it is working for me! But after reading all the reviews about long-term use, I am now reluctant! I will consult with my doctor. As for the price, yes, very expensive, but I've been using capsules, they are very reasonable with the price! Look it up!"

"After taking one pill twice per day for three weeks, I suddenly experienced, in the middle of the night, an excessive amount of blood being discharged with diarrhea. This continued every two to three hours until mid-morning when I was admitted to a hospital. I was diagnosed with diverticulosis and admitted overnight. Was treated with antibiotics. The bleeding stopped by mid-afternoon. The following day, I was discharged and then went to see my family doctor. He did not believe that I had diverticulosis as I had no pain associated with the episodes. After reviewing my meds, he told me I should contact the prescribing doctor (knee specialist) regarding the episode and continuing the meds for pain. I was told by the surgeons' nurses to stop the meds."

"I have a degenerative bone disease in the back of my neck. I've been taking Duexis three times a day for about a month. It helps, but it makes me itch, and I have to use the bathroom more. It makes my eyes itch and swell some. Need to talk to my doctor about this. Thank God my copay is only $10.00."

"I am 48 and have OA in both thumbs, neck, lower back, both hips, both feet, and both SI joints. I am prescribed Norco 10's 4 times a day and Zanaflex at night. This is the second time my pain management doctor has given me samples of Duexis. It is simply Pepcid and Ibuprofen, so I'm not sure as to why some people would say it's so bad, unless they are having a drug interaction with whatever else they are taking. As for me, it didn't help any more than just taking any other OTC pain reliever. On this second time, after starting, my feet and ankles have been swollen. I'm going to stop taking it for a while and see what happens. Might just be a vein issue. My insurance would not cover (Medicaid, of course)."

"First, the cost is insane, and ExpressScripts will not cover it, although there is no FDA-approved generic of this drug. Also, at first, it seems to work like a magic little wonder pill, and I felt great. When I got the second refill, it seems like something has changed. It no longer works like it did. I truly feel the greedy people who make this insanely expensive ibuprofen have changed their formula to make you buy/use even more. I am considering not getting more and just asking my doc for something else."

"This medicine worked wonderfully for my pain from undifferentiated connective tissue disease. I am 49 years old. After taking it, I had virtually no pain, which gave me the energy to get things done. Unfortunately, after taking it as prescribed 3 times a day for a few days, I had a bowel movement that was black diarrhea. So I’ve been afraid to take it anymore."

"I thought this medication was improving my condition, but as time went by, it only got worse. When I just saw the bill from Aetna and saw what they were charging for this medication, I would not have even taken the first pill. Oh, my feet became very sore, swollen, and made walking much worse, so I would not really recommend this to anybody. The cost is outrageous! Even though my out of pocket was low, it pushed me into the coverage 3 level."

"After receiving chemotherapy for an aggressive breast cancer in 2012, Aleve handled my joint and muscle pain for quite a while. When I began having stomach pain, I told my doctor, and he prescribed Duexis, twice per day. I have been on this dosage for several years now, and it is hard to function without it. I can move around freely, with no pain! Without it, I move (or more like DON'T move) like someone 90 years old (I'm 65). I am getting ready to start a generic and am praying it works as well."

"I have been taking Duexis off and on for 5 years...first for a sprained ankle and then knee surgery. It works wonders for me, and I am lucky as I have no side effects, and my insurance covers it. It works so well that I nearly get goosebumps after taking it, as it wipes clear each and every pain I have. I am careful not to use it often, though."

"Four ibuprofen and one Zantac does not compare to one of these pills. I was told by my insurance company they would not cover the cost of Duexis, so I use them only if I know I'll be on my feet all day to keep my knee pain in check. With 4 ibuprofen and 1 Zantac, I have to take the dose 3 times a day. With Duexis, I only need 1 for my day, so there is definitely something else going on with this drug. Something else in the formulation. I'd be ecstatic if the insurance would cover this drug. 800 mg/day Duexis over 2400 mg/day ibuprofen would be great."
