Lo/Ovral (ethinyl estradiol / norgestrel) "As soon as this drug started working, I stayed in one constant mood of irritable-anxiety. I was a horrible person to be around and cried every single day. I was having hormone problems and this drug made my life go from bad to worse. I would never pollute my body with garbage like this again. Be careful, girls!"

Cryselle (ethinyl estradiol / norgestrel) "Everyone is giving this drug a bad rep... I've been on 2 pills, this one only makes me moody just before my period which is normal for someone not on birth control, no weight gained and my acne isn't awful. By not awful I mean I've had acne for 7 years and in the past year on this medication it hasn't been as bad as it has been in the past. No medication is perfect but this is a pretty good one, I think a lot of people blame this medication for their life problems when that just may be their life."

Cryselle (ethinyl estradiol / norgestrel) "My doctor put me on Cryselle after 3 years on Microgestin. I've been on Cryselle for 2 years now. I switched pills b/c of headaches, VERY tender breasts, and the pill causing zero libido (I'm not exaggerating). Cryselle improved my headaches, although I still have them they are not as bad. Breasts are also not as sore, although Cryselle caused them to grow huge. Libido is better, but only by like 10% (which is generous). Overall, my experience with Cryselle has been positive. Also, I haven't gotten pregnant so it obviously gets then job done!"

Cryselle (ethinyl estradiol / norgestrel) "This was the generic brand my original bc was changed to. The 1st month or so I didn't notice any changes but recently, about 3 months in I've been getting headaches, horrible nausea and stomach cramps & my period has gone back to being longer than shorter like it was on the first pill. I've never been one to feel unmotivated, lethargic, depressed, or anxious, but as of recently I've been experiencing all those things which is no doubt making stress induced nausea worse and have just generally felt bad. I went to my doctor and had multiple blood tests taken and some other tests but all came back with no abnormalities, leading me to realize it was change in birth control. Ups? Worked and no breast tenderness. But thats it."

Cryselle (ethinyl estradiol / norgestrel) "My doctor recommended I switch to this birth control about 2 months ago because of my worsening cramps on my period. This medication has worsened my anxiety, caused my depression to be through the roof, and made me break out with acne all over my face. My anxiety is so bad sometimes that I can’t even work up the courage to walk out of the door and go do things during the day. I had never struggled with acne in the past until I was put on this medication. Now I have acne scars and pimples all over my forehead that won’t go away even after getting medicine from a dermatologist. I am seeing my doctor on Friday to get off of this horrible birth control and get my life back on track. Do yourself a favor and NEVER go on this medication. It will make you hormonal and make you feel crazy."

Cryselle (ethinyl estradiol / norgestrel) "I really love this birth control, but as someone else stated, I think it might be affecting my libido. I haven't noticed any weight gain at all since I've been using this. I have been on it for over two years and really have no true complaints. My skin is completely clear during my placebo week, and relatively clear the rest of the time. But I still have some random nasty breakouts. This could just be my skin type though, and might not have anything to do with the birth control. I was on a high estrogen birth control before this, which negatively affected my mood, but I feel great on this one. I don't ever find myself feeling super moody, just my usual self. My period usually lasts 4 days, nothing bad at all. Overall, I recommend it."

Low-Ogestrel-28 (ethinyl estradiol / norgestrel) "I have been taking this pill for 7 months. The first 3 months were the worst as my body was adjusting and I was so bipolar and nauseous. Now...it honestly worsened my acne from mild to moderate painful cysts. No weight gain. But honestly this pill has left me an emotional wreck. If I'm not angry I am sad or easily irritated. Happiness is rare. And I break out even worse during my period in places I never even broke out before. Not the worst but not the best. Definitely switching pill brands."

Cryselle (ethinyl estradiol / norgestrel) "I've been on this pill for four months now. I used to have extremely heavy periods that could last longer than a month. This pill has reduced my period to a week and it's what I imagine is normal instead of heavy. Since I started this pill, I've had extremely strange experiences with my stomach. I have a lot of stomach problems but this has been a lot worse. I'm nauseous almost all the time now, with the mornings being the worst. I experienced discomfort in my upper right abdomin, mimicking gallstones or an infection. Went to the ER, they had no idea what it was. Unsure if this is related to this medication, but there definitely seems to be a relation between it and the nausea. No acne or weight gain from me, as I've been reading about."

Cryselle (ethinyl estradiol / norgestrel) "I’m 21 and have been on cryselle since I was a junior in high school. I initially started it because I was having bad period cramps and clotting. I would pass out from blood loss and pain. Cryselle has completely eliminated all cramps and heavy blood flow. My periods only last 4-5 days! I love it! I also had no side effects"

Cryselle (ethinyl estradiol / norgestrel) "I’ve been on Cryselle 28 (0.3mg) for 1 year and 3 months since I was blessed with terrible period genes. My periods were extremely heavy (almost like hemorrhaging), were irregular, and would last for 7-10 days. Now, I can track my period and my flow is normal. (Lasts for 4-5 days) I struggled with acne on my chest and back, it cleared up within 2 months. Before I took the pill, I was a very happy, carefree, and lived in the moment type of individual. The first month, I would cry my eyes out every night. The symptoms got worse until I hit 8 months, and now struggling with anxiety and depression. I never dealt with anxiety or depression before and it doesn’t run in my family, so I would not recommend this pill at all. I finally hit my breaking point not too long ago and I’m switching to a different pill. Clearing up acne and helping my period was great and all, but mental health is extremely important and Cryselle 28 took me to a place where I would never want to go back again."

Cryselle (ethinyl estradiol / norgestrel) "I started cryselle as my first birth control drug. When I started, I bled on and off for about a month. After that, everything was great. Very regular periods lasting about 5 days with only 1-2 “heavy” days. Just experienced the normal teenage acne problems, nothing out of the ordinary. No cramps. Some weight gain but was also a part of growing out of adolescence. I’m 20 now and had to switch pills because over the past year, periods have gone down to about 3 days with very light cycles and have had pre-hypertension for about 2 years. Now my blood pressure qualifies for hypertension so I switched in hopes it would come down. Also experienced breakthrough bleeding of brown discharge for two weeks straight. Assuming it was a lot of old blood that had accumulated. After switching, my body has finally let go of all that old blood (there was a lot) so just be mindful of that. Was on this pill for about 4 years and it was a good run"

Low-Ogestrel-28 (ethinyl estradiol / norgestrel) "Stay far away from Low-Ogestrel-28 that is all I can say. This birth-control has made me the most unhappy human being. I cry at random times, my mood swings are unreal, and I’ve gained so much weight. I’ve also started getting acne. I am switching asap"

Cryselle (ethinyl estradiol / norgestrel) "I've been on multiple different bc pills because I always end up getting breakthrough bleeding after 8 months or so. This pill I've been on the longest 2 years and I just started experiencing the breakthrough bleeding 4 months ago. It would start around my second week of pills and I would begin with all the pms symptom first.. Swollen breast, bloating, mood swings... Then I would have spotting for a day or two. The spotting would go away but the pms symptoms would stay until I got my period at the scheduled time. So the bloating and swollen, tender breast for 3 weeks out of the month got old so my doctor switched me to aleese. I've yet to try it. But over all I didn't have a bad experience with cryselle. I would highly recommend it."

Cryselle (ethinyl estradiol / norgestrel) "I have had an awful experience on this pill. I switched to it 9 months ago, and since then I've gained about 15 lbs. It's given me terrible acne and headaches. I'm waiting for a different pill now, I can't wait to be off of this stuff. Everyone has different reactions to different BC's, but I would highly suggest using a different one if you can."

Cryselle (ethinyl estradiol / norgestrel) "Bad: I took it for about a year, then it gave me bad acne that automatically cleared away when I took a 2 week break from it, and automatically came back when I got back on it. It has also make my hair so dry, frail and frizzy regardless of how good I take care of it. My blood pressure, anxiety and mood swings also fluctuated when I was on and off this pill. Good: makes my periods ultra light, almost never cramp. Haven't gotten pregnant. Overall I would not recommend it if you can be on something else."

Cryselle (ethinyl estradiol / norgestrel) "I have been on Cryselle for 5 years now. At first it did its exact job, prevented pregnancy and regulated my period. I became an emotional roller coaster once I got on the pill but my mom and I always chalked it up to teenager issues (I got on it when I was 16). Once I got older and grew to realize that I was severely struggling with anxiety and depression, I felt it was best that I got off. I only got off a week ago so I can’t say what side effects come yet, but I will say that this pill makes anxiety and depression so much worse than I could have ever expected! I also struggled with severe acne in high school. Never any weight gain though, but with the depression, I had severe body dysmorphia and anorexia could have just kept my weight down."

Cryselle (ethinyl estradiol / norgestrel) "This is such a terrible pill, I have never ever felt the way I did while I was on this pill. I took the pill for 4 months. The first month was okay I had no symptoms at all. However towards the end of the month every day I either had a headache, had anxiety was very angry or miserably depressed. I couldn't stand the person next to me, any person who made a noise or laughed too hard. I was very mean and so frustrated towards everything my boyfriend did and said and the next day I would feel bad and apologize. this pill made me feel like a crazy person and was driving me insane. One minute I was laughing the other I was crying. I do not recommened this pill to any girls out there this pill is terrible!!"

Cryselle (ethinyl estradiol / norgestrel) "I’ve been on birth control for a year and I didn’t have any side effects besides maybe a small headache, like once a month which was close to my period week. I recently got switched to a new birth control which, is basically the generic form of my old pill and it is, “Cryselle”. I’ve been on this pill for 3 weeks, about to be on my 4th. I’ve noticed that after I take my pill every night at 9 pm, that 30 minutes after, my stomach starts feeling weird and it continues on until 10 am the next morning at least. It makes me feel as if I’m going to throw up, but I can’t throw up. Also, I’ve noticed whenever I eat a full meal, after I took this pill, it makes me feel even worse then I do if I don’t have a full meal afterwards, sometimes I eat before and sometimes I eat after. Anyone know of a way to resolve this problem? Also, I’ve been having body aches in a way and feel extremely tired and more emotional then I’ve ever felt."

Low-Ogestrel-28 (ethinyl estradiol / norgestrel) "I started taking this birth control when I was about 15 because I had such terribly painful and long periods. Almost immediately (it does take a few months for your body to adjust) it make my periods regular, short, and virtually no pain. I will admit if I take the pill hours late or forget a pill my moods go crazy and my skin breaks out. If it take it perfectly I love it so much. I'm now 27 and I've been in a serious relationship for 7 years and have had no pregnancy scares. I recommend this to anyone who is willing to take it perfectly at the same time everyday and wants light periods. It is also free on my Carefirst health insurance plan."

Cryselle (ethinyl estradiol / norgestrel) "Do not take Cryselle. Terrible mood swings and irregular periods. I started taking Cryselle for pregnancy prevention and to maintain regular periods at the age of 18. After less than 3 years later, I developed a severe blood clot in my right leg due to the amount of estrogen in this pill."

Cryselle (ethinyl estradiol / norgestrel) "This really helped me for my period, before this pill, my period was so bad, going on for 7-8 days, with serious pain for the first 4 days. I would take like 4 ibuprofen (in just 3 hours, NOT good) and it wouldn't help! But now my pain is mild to none, and that makes me happy. I was seriously hoping it would help lower my acne level though... but it gave me more, plus oily skin. Just as long as it keeps the pain away, I'll keep taking it."

Cryselle (ethinyl estradiol / norgestrel) "I have taken Cryselle for nearly eight years now. I was prescribed this birth control when I became sexually active. It's purpose was to control my abnormally heavy flow and to prevent pregnancy. For the last three years, I have been miserable. I did not believe that my worsening anxiety and depression were caused by my hormones, much less the prescription that I had taken for seven years. My blood pressure has been recorded at very high levels. My sweating is excessive and I have panic attacks regularly. My anxiety has never been so out of control and I have withdrawn from my friends and family because of my uncontrollable mood swings. I have turned into an impulsive, irritable and unhappy woman out of nowhere and I need a different hormone therapy as soon as possible. If you experience worsened depression with this medication, please do not wait like me. Everyone's body is different. Go speak with your doctor."

Cryselle (ethinyl estradiol / norgestrel) "I am currently on the hunt for a birth control (BC) that doesn't impact on my libido as much. My OBGYN recommended this one after a year of being off BC. I have been trying other BCs. She gave me three months supply and told me that it takes a month for my body to get use to it. Boy, let me tell you! If you are even remotely depressed or struggle with anxiety, steer clear of this BC. After taking this for a month, I was 10x more depressed, and really dark thoughts were emerging, and my anxiety was high. I can say, I stopped taking it four days ago , and I feel so much better! I already made my appointment for next week."

Cryselle (ethinyl estradiol / norgestrel) "I've been on this pill about 8 months now. It's my 3rd birth control. Tricyclics give me bad migraines and I was on minastrin before this. Minastrin always made me really sad for no reason, too nauseous to eat, very moody and depressed and had no period. Cryselle was such a big turnaround for me. I'm back to my normal happy self, periods only last 1-2 days rarely any cramping. Only thing I noticed was a little bit of weight gain but that could also be from switching as the last birth control made me too sick to eat half the time."
