"So far, been on this for about 3 months now... And I've gained weight rapidly. My mood swings are way off the wall. I'm tired just about every day, even after countless hours of rest. My periods are extremely abnormal, in which they never were before. Random spotting...which is extra annoying. My past period cycle was so weird because I've just gotten it, and it looked like it was going away, even though it was lighter, it lasted a lot longer than usual. You definitely get pregnancy-like symptoms...such as the bloating, excessive eating, sensitive nose, mood swings, and definitely lots of fluids releasing from your body."

"I have been using this birth control for a little over 2 months now, and even though it has worked so far for preventing pregnancy, the side effects are terrible. I thought at first that I was just sick, but I would only feel sick an hour after the pill. I take it at night before bed, the nausea is so bad it affects my sleep. And the first thing that happens when I wake up is very painful cramps and even more nausea. I get very long and painful headaches, and my emotions are all over the place-from angry and annoyed to anxious, then sad and crying for no reason. Along with all that, my breasts are sore. Just putting on a bra makes me cringe. The best way to describe the symptoms of this pill is pregnancy symptoms on steroids. Not recommended!!!"

"I originally started this medication due to chronic migraines caused by hormonal imbalance. When I first started the pill, my acne had reached its worst. I told myself to stick it through, it was the only thing helping the prevention of my headaches and migraines. In the 3rd month, my skin completely cleared. My boobs went from just fitting a D 32 to DD 34! I gained no weight from it, still had my sex drive, and it did a very good job of keeping me from getting pregnant. It also made my period lighter, less painful, and 3 days shorter. I remained on the pill for about a year and a half before I started experiencing bad nausea every time I missed a pill, and I also got really bad anxiety in the end. Had to stop taking it eventually. Miss my boobs but not the nausea or anxiety."

"I've been on this birth control for the last 7 years. I love it. I always know exactly when I'm going to get my period, and they only last 4-5 days. I do get moody right before, and breast soreness/cramping the day of, but it's not anything crazy. No weight gain, and my skin still breaks out around my period. I've never been pregnant, so that's definitely a plus too!"

"I rated this poorly because of the lack of response from my doctor. Shortly after starting Tri-Previfem, I developed multiple gastrointestinal issues. None of my doctors or nurses (ObGyn, GP) took me seriously and insisted it was in my head or the result of some other unrelated issue. I finally decided to stop taking it, and within a week, I was able to go through a day without feeling nauseous or vomiting. These types of side effects need to be discussed more because they can be debilitating."

"I had a very negative reaction with this birth control. I only took the first pill... ONE pill... and the entirety of the next day I had chest pain, shortness of breath, dizziness, blurry vision, and anxiety. I honestly felt like I was going to die. My chest felt like it was going to explode. I went to urgent care, and they found all of my vitals to be completely normal, but that the pill was making me physically feel these effects that weren't really there. They told me that I didn't have to stop taking it, but I never took another one because I would rather not be on birth control at all than to feel like that ever again."

"Works fabulous. Been on it for 7 years, always get my period on the same day. Never any nausea. I get emotional the day before my period starts, but it's whatever. My boobs got huge, which was nice. No pregnancy scares either... at all. Works fabulous. Highly recommend... I haven't had any issues like other people say."

"I’ve been on Tri-Previfem for about eight months now. I switched after being on a low-dose estrogen pill for 4.5 years to this, which has a higher (but 'not high') dose of estrogen. I switched primarily because I had cystic acne issues (28 years old), and Tri-Prev. was recommended by my dermatologist. This pill absolutely cleared up my acne issues. I barely break out anymore and am very happy. But my period is basically back to a full five days, which isn’t ideal, though it’s always on time. ALSO— breast tenderness is unreal, wow. I am very small chested, and the soreness is intense for a few days the week before my period. Overall, I’m pleased with this pill."

"This is my 4th month after switching from Ortho Tri-Cyclen to Tri-Previfem due to my insurance and availability, and I am miserable. For preventing pregnancy, sure, the pill works. But for anything else, it is horrible. I have gained several pounds over the last month and have not changed anything about my lifestyle. My face is breaking out along my chin nearly every day. I am having constant serious mood swings. I am antisocial, and I have no sex drive. I have considered ending my year-long relationship for the tiniest reasons, and I am horrible to my family. I have never had mental health issues before I took this pill, and I am hoping stopping will help me return to my normal self..."

"This pill was very effective for me. I was on it for quite some time, HOWEVER, the reason why I'll never use it again is because it took a really bad toll on my sex drive. I was always dry during sex, even with lubrication, which causes pain and tearing. I knew it had to have been the pill, and once I stopped and we started trying to have a baby, I realized my drive was back and I was no longer dry or experiencing pain. It totally disappeared after a week of not taking them. I will also say that my periods were pretty light, 3-4 days, and came every month like clockwork."

"I have been on Tri-Previfem since 2014. Since my insurance wouldn't cover Ortho Tri-Cyclen, I like that it helped with my heavy periods and completely took away those bad cramps I would get every month. About 3 months ago, I started feeling so bad when it was a couple of days before my period was supposed to come. I would get so moody, depressed, and at times, if something really gets to me, I would really flip out. I really didn't pay it much attention until I started to get them more around the same time each month. It's not as bad as it was when I first started having problems with it. I will continue to take them and hope that the pill company isn't taking away anything or putting anything bad in them."

"I started taking this BC last year, 11/2014, when I got the Mirena taken out due to bad acne. A few weeks after starting Tri-Previfem, I started having hypoglycemic episodes after I run (~4 miles). Which continued after every run, so I started taking supplements before and during my run to keep my blood sugar stable. Which helps partly and is very annoying. But, in the last 2 months, I had 2 hypoglycemic episodes in the morning without any physical activity. It's now 8/2014, and I've decided to stop taking them. Cons: hypoglycemia, stomach bloat during period. Pros: no acne, regulated periods (precise day and roundabout time of day), minimal/no cramps."

"I really hate this birth control. I have taken others and had no side effects or anything go wrong, but this pill has basically ruined my social life. I have been taking it for a little over a month, and since the second I started taking it, I have had my period. I have no sex drive and constant bleeding. I have noticed I'm super moody, and for the first week, it made me sick to my stomach, and I stopped eating because of how it made me feel. I hate this pill, but my doctor makes it difficult to switch."

"The birth control does well with keeping you from getting pregnant. But I'm on my third month of taking the pill, and I've been bloated for about a week and a half now. I lost my appetite, mood swings, and headaches."

"I went on this pill about 4 or so years ago and did not have too many issues. I occasionally broke out from time to time and I did gain a little weight over the last few years, but I think that's more my fault for living off a college diet and not exercising like I should have. I went on the pill almost as soon as I became sexually active and have not had any pregnancy scares, so it did that job in that respect. It also kept my periods regular and fairly short (about 4 days). However, around the time of my period, I experienced extremely bad headaches (sometimes migraines accompanied with vomiting), so my doctor just switched me over to a new pill recently. But other than that, I've had no complaints and would recommend this birth control."

"First of all, the worst side effect for me is the constant yeast infections. Never had one in my life until I started this pill, now I will have one constantly, cured for a week, then it returns with a vengeance. So dry down there, to the point where my partner and I had tension about one of us unknowingly carrying an STD (neither of us were). Absolute horrific mood swings, you will become a completely different person. Nausea. Sweating. Weight gain. All of the things you don't want. It took me 3 months to realize this pill was the source of my misery. Do yourself a favor and stop it, there are so many better options out there, ladies! Best of luck x o."

"I have been on this birth control for almost three years. No pregnancy scares, no side effects, regulated my period, and I had intense cramps for the four years I was on my period before I started taking this. Sick the entire week, couldn't walk and puking every day. And since I've taken this birth control, I have had cramps probably twice."

"I have been on Tri-Previfem for almost a year, and I love it. I originally did the Depo shot, and it made me gain a lot of weight, but this did not make me gain any weight. My skin has cleared up completely, I have no acne, and I used to have cystic acne. My periods are very light and very regulated, plus I haven’t gotten pregnant, so I know it works in that area too. I definitely recommend this birth control. I weigh 135 pounds, and I’m about 5’6” just for reference."

"I've been on the pill for over three weeks, and the side effects are horrible. I've gained 10 lbs in just these three weeks. I've been bloating really bad and thought I was pregnant. I originally got on this pill for mainly my acne, and the pill made it worse. I've woken up with terrible migraines and being nauseous. My mood swings are bad, and sometimes I'm depressed because of the weight gain. I couldn't ride my horse, the soreness of my breasts was terrible. I'm thinking about getting off this pill and trying a different one."

"I've taken this pill for two weeks now, and I've had a constant migraine. I just had a baby three months ago, so I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it or not. Also had very heavy bleeding for a week, then it would stop and start again. Also, I'm very moody and sad, where I wasn't before I started taking this medicine. If I still have migraines at the end of this pack, I may switch."

"I have been taking this birth control for 6 months, and I have finally decided to stop taking it. Although it did help eliminate my acne, regulate my cycle, and prevent pregnancy, the cons outweigh the pros for me. At first, I didn't really experience too many negative side effects, but as time has gone on, I have become severely depressed, moody, and unmotivated. I am constantly tired and have become extremely forgetful about even simple things. I have become overly anxious and paranoid. I did have anxiety at times before the pill, but it was never this bad. My breasts are constantly sore, and I have absolutely no sex drive anymore. None at all. I know it's this pill causing this, and I need to stop taking it so I can feel like myself again."

"I've been on this birth control for two weeks now, and I have had so many side effects. Sore breasts, stomach cramps, bloating, and very bad acne. I would compare them to pregnancy symptoms. Really hate feeling like I'm pregnant, and it really helped seeing that other girls have had the same experience with this."

"I hate this birth control!!! I used to be on Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo and I loved it, never had any side effects or problems. I was switched to Tri-Previfem 3 months ago and it has been awful from day one. I have severe headaches from the beginning of my period to the end. I've gained 10 lbs. I have had a yeast infection every month since I've been on it. (I've never had yeast infections before). My mood swings are ridiculous. I never want to have sex. The list goes on. Do not get this birth control!"

"Please do not take this. I haven't been this depressed in a year, but I truly feel like this has made it come back with a vengeance. Just don't take it. Also, my anxiety is worse than it's ever been, and I really feel like dying. I'm switching back to Sprintec in hopes that I feel better. Stay away from this."

"Been on this birth control for a couple of months now, and I have been experiencing very bad anxiety, which I’ve never had previously. I can honestly say that this is the worst birth control I’ve ever taken. Maybe it’s because I haven’t been on it very long, but I genuinely don’t care. I have to get off of this trash birth control."
