"I was on this birth control after trying several different ones. I wanted something to not make me gain weight and just protect me from pregnancy. On the placebo pills, I did have somewhat cramping, and I continued to spot after a few days starting on the new pack of active pills, which I did not like. Other than that, this is a great birth control."

"I've been on it for about 6 months. I had bad mood swings during the first week and a half, but after that, it definitely helped me balance out my emotions and my weight. I had to get off of it for two weeks because I ran out, but after getting off, I felt terrible. I lost weight and my appetite, but I'm back on it, and again, I'm a week and a half in, and I don't feel nearly as bad as I did when I first started. I feel so much better, but what works for me might not work for you."

"After being off birth control for 2 years, I decided to go back on the pill. I used to take Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo, and I loved the packaging for this BC, and my side effects were minimal. After I saw it was discontinued, I was upset. I got prescribed Estarylla as a generic version, and it’s horrible. My side effects are mood swings, fatigue, and spotting that leads to legit bleeding for 2 weeks... nope, never again. Finally, after 2 months, I’m switching."

"Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo was discontinued, so I tried this Tri-Estarylla. I kept giving it a chance, thinking that my body needed to adjust. It got worse, terrible headaches that lasted all day and every day. Prior, my health, acne, and bleeding were all normal. Now, I was bleeding randomly, getting my period early and spotting, terrible cramps along with heavy bleeding every other month. So heavy that I thought I was miscarrying. I didn’t realize why I was lacking motivation initially. I was bloated not only during my period but throughout the entire month. The last straw was the huge, painful pimples all over my face, near my chin, jawline, cheeks, hairline, and small whiteheads on my back and chest that left scars. This was it, I couldn’t even stand to look in the mirror anymore without disgust. This shouldn’t be on the market. Truly, the headaches alone kept me from living and enjoying my life. Get off this, don’t try. If you’re having similar symptoms, they probably won’t go away."

"I took this pill for 3 months because the pill club switched me to it. The first month was fine, nothing that I can think of had changed. But the second month, 2-4 days before my period, I got very bad anxiety and depression to the point I was having muscle spasms in my body. I couldn’t sleep and cried all the time. I didn’t know what was happening. After my period, it slowly started getting better. Then the third month, same thing, 2-4 days before my period, bad anxiety and depression. I stopped taking it right away when I saw all the reviews of others experiencing the same as me."

"I only took this medication for two weeks before it drove me so crazy I had to get off of it. It was my first-ever birth control, and within four days, I was already exhausted, breaking out like crazy, experiencing bad cramping, and my depressive symptoms that I had been doing well with for months came back full force. My boyfriend thought I was having a breakdown, I was so emotional and moody. I had zero motivation to do anything and no attention span. Definitely not worth it. Do a different generic or a brand name."

"I switched from my old birth control to a new one because my body got used to the pill. I got stuck on this one, and after reading reviews, I was so scared. I thought I was going to get pregnant within the first week, cry 24/7, and be in pain. It wasn't like that at all. The first two weeks to a month were the hardest. I had breast aches that hurt pretty bad (only lasted a week), and I had a couple of days of headaches. My cramps are really bad on the pill, but I'm on naproxen to help with those. My period still comes, and it was a normal flow. All is good so far, just over 2 months in, and as long as you’re taking them correctly and don't miss a pill, you have nothing to worry about. Oh! I was also nervous about acne because I never really break out badly. My acne is still normal, but I haven't gotten cystic acne or anything from this pill! The only bad sides I would say are: cramping, breast pain (only when you start the pill), and I cry more often (more sensitive)."

"I haven't had any problems on this birth control. I have gained weight, but I don't know if that is related to the birth control since they usually change them up depending on pharmacies, but lately, it has been Tri-Estarylla. I've never had any mood swings or loss of sex drive from this! I've also never had any abnormal bleeding."

"First the positives. I had great skin while taking this. Usually, I get a zit or two either before or during my period, but I did not have that while on this. Also, it really mitigated my PMS, which is saying a lot because I've been diagnosed with PMDD. On the other hand, my libido was essentially nonexistent unless I was on my period, which (surprise) is when you're not taking the pill for seven days. I had very little desire for sex while taking this, and I honestly believed at various points that I was asexual."

"I’ve been using this birth control for about 4 months now. My doctor switched my prescription to Tri-Estarylla because I started to cramp with my other birth control. Worst experience ever. My depression and anxiety are at an all-time high. Before using this medication, I never struggled with depression and was a very happy person. Now I struggle to even get out of bed most days. My brain feels cloudy, and I find myself having suicidal thoughts often. My mood swings are out of control, and my sex drive is gone. My periods are heavy as well. The only good thing from this birth control is that I haven’t gotten pregnant. I know the experience is different for everyone, but after reading other reviews from women who are experiencing the same symptoms, I know for a fact that it’s the birth control that’s causing all of this. I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone."

"I’ve had a great experience! I was previously on Junel FE, however, it made my anxiety a lot worse to the point where I couldn’t eat regularly. This one is much better, and my mood has improved. The only side effect is that it did cause me nausea when I first started."

"My gyno put in an Ortho Tri-Cyclen prescription for me at CVS, and they gave me Tri-Estarylla instead. Fine. I've taken Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo, Ortho Tri-Cyclen, Trinessa, and Tri-Sprintec and had no issues with adult acne. I took it for about a week and a half, and it was awful. The first week it was okay, but the second week... all hell broke loose. I do struggle with anxiety, which does rear its ugly head now and again, but this was bad. Really, really bad. I went through a very rough patch at the beginning of 2016 with bad insomnia and rumination. Last week, it came back-mood swings, crying, emotional outbursts, little sleep, rumination, etc. I stopped taking it and now feel normal."

"I noticed right away I was exhausted, but didn't think anything of it. I have always been emotional, so it didn't seem off that I randomly started crying. Once I hit 4 months, I thought I burned my tongue. Went to the doctor to make sure it was nothing like strep throat or anything. My tongue swelled to where I couldn't talk or eat, and it lasted about a week. Then this month, the first week on the new pack, I had the same problem. I know I haven't burned my tongue as I have been too paranoid to eat anything hot. So I called the doctor's office and was told it's odd, but it can happen. So I will be picking up a new prescription today. Meanwhile, I still have to wait for the swelling to go down."

"So, I started taking this Tri-Estarylla back in December. The first month I didn't notice anything different, and I didn't expect to because I just started taking it, so the first month was fine, nothing crazy. The second month in, I had severe mood changes (angry, upset, raged) for weeks. Then the acne really started coming in, I always struggled with cystic acne and the pain of it, this birth control had it come in full swing for weeks. It sucked, but it wasn't anything I was concerned about. I dealt with it, and thankfully, it cleared up. Then the spotting happened. When I say I spotted for a literally whole month, I mean it. It was very uncomfortable and awkward at the time. I've never been on another birth control, so this was my first one. I was panicked and disheartened the whole second month. I decided to stay on it for a third month because that's when the BC should be in full swing. And I am so glad I did. I'm speaking only for myself, but my acne cleared up almost 90%. I have no more spotting."

"These Tri-Estarylla are terrible birth control pills. I had to switch to these because my insurance changed and covered them and not my old ones. Within a year, I gained 15 pounds, I look bloated and not like myself. I haven’t changed my diet or lifestyle in any way. I’ve also been suffering crippling anxiety. Just got off them 2 weeks ago and feel so much better. Beware of this one!!!! I regret ever getting on them without prior research."

"It made me cry a lot, also made me so mad at my bf when he had not done anything bad to me. I would sit in my room so quiet, felt like people were screaming at me. Made me break up with my boyfriend because I hit him for nothing."

"I had the worst experience with this birth control. There were times when I had two periods in one month, times that I bled through my pants and pads. It also made me have mood swings."

"Nurx switched me from Tri-Lo Sprintec to this Tri-Estarylla. Now, 5 months in, and each month I sink deeper into low energy and am constantly hungry. I know to take vitamin D and B to help fend off side effects, but this pill is winning. Now, I'm noticing the depression, having fits of irritability, and I ache all the time. I'm 36, and the last time I went through this mood, I was on another generic about 10 years ago. Generics changing the 'inactive' ingredients are just as important as the hormones."
