"I’ve only been on this birth control for 3 months. I’m constantly nauseated, my boobs are so sore, my mood swings are crazy, acne is awful (I’ve always had super clear skin). My period stopped April 26th, I had been bleeding for 10 days straight. Today is May 7th, and it’s back again... something is just not right with this pill! I do not recommend it to anyone."

"I’ve taken this birth control for about 3 years. Up until recently, it’s been great, I had practically zero side effects besides some mood changes, which only lasted the first couple of months. It decreased my PMS symptoms, and I never experienced spotting, weight gain, acne, etc. However, for the past 3 months, I have been spotting every single day nonstop, despite taking my pill religiously at the same time every morning and never missing a pill for three whole years. Nothing has changed in my life or daily routine that would explain the spotting. I was hoping that this would blow over since this birth control has (overall) worked so well with my body, but unfortunately, I’ve decided to switch birth controls as the spotting has become unbearable and is a hindrance in my everyday life and sex life."

"I've used this birth control for 3 years straight now, I like it. I didn't/haven't noticed anything weird until recently, once I researched it. I've noticed the last few months I have been bleeding, not spotting, because I can be changing my liner every other time I use the bathroom. I also never paid attention to my hair loss because I just assumed it was normal since I had two kids, I thought my body was still adjusting. I bleed sometimes during sex as well, and my vagina is normally dry... like I feel like I can't get wet :( I think I am going to stop taking the pills, tbh."

"It took about 3 months for my body to adapt to the pills, but after that, it worked really well for me. It lightened my periods, made them 3 days shorter, and they always came on time. After the first 3 months, I might have had spotting once over the rest of the year."

"Been taking Ortho for 1.5 months, and the first pack made me have a 3-week period with every PMS symptom in existence. My weight has not moved in any way, but I still have been getting slightly nauseated in the morning, my breasts hurt, and I feel like I can't get enough water to drink. It makes my mouth dry! I have one more pack of these, and after that, I am going to decide if I can take these or not."

"I’ve been taking this pill for almost ten years. I’ve discontinued it three times for a few months, but would reinitiate treatment because it really helped with my acne and menstrual cramps. In the past few months, my acne got back, and I’d be spotting the weeks before and after my period, so I discontinued it. This was the best thing! Almost immediately, I noticed an improvement in my mood and pain tolerance. I would get mood swings, feel super vulnerable, overreact to small things, and would care what other people thought. I felt my emotions were all over the place, and I couldn’t control them. This caused anxiety and a depressed mood almost every day. I spent so much energy trying to manage my emotions! Once I stopped using the pill, I got MUCH, MUCH BETTER! I also noticed I got thinner! In conclusion, it made wonders with my acne and cramps, and I would give it a 10/10 just for that, but it’s not worth it if my quality of life deteriorates due to mood changes."

"I only took this for a month, and the first week didn’t notice any major changes, so I was hopeful. As the estrogen amount increased in the pill, I became more and more emotional, sweaty, and started having facial flushing. Also, my ankles would swell-which was expected because this happens any time I’m on the pill. Besides emotional extremes, it gave me a painless period, which I haven’t had in months (thanks to copper IUD). Doctor is trying me on Lo Loestrin next. Hoping it works!"

"I took this for 1.5 months due to heavy periods. I'm 37. First 2 or 3 weeks I was okay, by the 4th week, my head was spinning! I took a picture of myself and couldn't even recognize myself, it was that creepy. Almost like a demon possessed me. My vagina dried up so bad and felt swollen. Painful sex, stomach bloated up so bad (didn't gain lbs. but felt such painful bloating), it made me sad, especially after losing 50 lbs on my weight loss journey. Cramping so bad. Vision change. I was so sad and ANGRY! Decided to stop it a week early or I'd die, so now off of it for 2 months now, and I get my period every 21 days instead of my normal 35. Yeah. Great! This stuff is a monster, my vagina is still not normal, and I go in mood spurts that ARE NOT NORMAL! Trying to fix my abnormal bleeding, what a joke, I'm now paying a deadly price. I give it a 'shouldn't even exist' rating. Ruined and still is ruining my life. Don't do it! Find something else, do your homework before trying a pill. I wish I did."

"I got on this birth control to regulate my period and get rid of acne. The only good thing about this was that my period started on the same day each month, and it was shorter. The negative effects I had were bad acne, cramps worsened, period was really heavy, and heavy spotting the first 2 months. I figured I needed to wait at least 3 months for any good effects, but the negatives outweighed the positives, and I'm now off this medicine. I didn't gain any weight, luckily. In fact, I lost some weight, but that could be a coincidence. The breakouts were the worst part about this birth control, though, and that is why I'm not taking it anymore."

"Awful. Awful. Awful. I started on the pill when I was 15 because I was getting cramps so bad I was almost throwing up from the pain. Now at 25, I am still using the pill but have switched a few times. The brand that I am using now is terrible. Horrible cramps, periods last for a week or more, spotting, mood swings, weight gain, acne, discharge... you name it, I've got it. The pill is effective for birth control, I'll give it that, but there are a lot of negative side effects that come along with it."

"I tried many, many birth controls before this one. I was having periods every other week, but this one has worked wonders; however, since being on it, I have gained about 30 pounds."

"I began taking this b/c 2 years ago because I was having a 10-day-long period every other week. The pill worked perfectly for regulating my hormones so that I would have a normal (4-5 day long) period once a month. I didn't have headaches, mood swings, weight gain, or any odd side effects. The only downside is my insurance began charging $50 a month for it, so I had to stop using it and now have to switch. And now that I have stopped taking it, my acne on my face, back, and chest has returned."
