Estarylla (ethinyl estradiol / norgestimate) "This is by far the worst birth control I have ever taken. Prior to using it, I never experienced depression, anxiety or negative thoughts, but since starting it, I have been going through intense waves of emotions, anxiety, and mood swings. The mood swings have been particularly severe, making it difficult for me to function at times. It's as if this birth control has intensified my premenstrual syndrome symptoms. I find it absolutely awful."

Tri-Sprintec (ethinyl estradiol / norgestimate) "This drug is so SO horrible. I have unbearable endometriosis with extreme pain every single day and was prescribed this to help. I’m surprised at all the positive reviews on here because this pill has literally made me feel like I’m dying. EXTREME nausea constantly every single day to the point where I couldn’t get rid of it and had to go to the hospital for anti-nausea meds. Im also crying at literally everything and my mood is all over the place. If you try this birth control and start to experience these side effects, waiting it out is honestly NOT worth it, at least for me. I have been so miserable and finally decided to call it quits. So excited to start feeling normal again and explore other options for my Endo."

Tri-Lo-Sprintec (ethinyl estradiol / norgestimate) "This is my 1st x on BCP & this is what was prescribed & I can't wait to end this pack & just suffer the horrible monthly cramps!! Since taking these, I'm always nauseous, so fatigued, constantly very irritable, my mom thinks I'm suddenly acting depressed when I never have been in my whole life, enough to where she wants me to go to counseling, I'm breaking out and it all seems to this pill, the ruthless culprit!"

Tri-Previfem (ethinyl estradiol / norgestimate) "MY experience with this is I got sick as a dog the first entire week of taking it. I got dehydrated. If anyone has a weak stomach like me be prepared to get sick the first week of taking it. The first month I was on my period it felt like my uterus was about to explode so my doctor had to call in pain medication for that. Overall my first experience with this medication was awful, but as the months progressed everything is right where it needs to be."

Tri-Lo-Marzia (ethinyl estradiol / norgestimate) "I have what’s called Sub-Cutaneous Endometriosis. Basically, my endometriosis was caused by my c-sections. I was bleeding and bruising under my skin. Long story short, I had abdominal surgery to remove any cells that were up under my skin and dr removed the c-section “flap” as I so lovingly called it. I had a good 2 years, endo grew back. Ow trying the birth control option. This is my 4th month on this particular brand. My first 2 months were fantastic and I slacked on the pill taking the 3rd month and had the worst, excruciating pains. Doctor told me to stick with it, so far, as long as I take the pills, like I’m supposed to all is great! My doc prescribed me strattera for my ADD and it has helped with anxiety and depression as well!"

Tri-Linyah (ethinyl estradiol / norgestimate) "Pros: Before Tri-Linyah my period was super irregular, to the point that the shortest time between a periods was 2 weeks and the longest was a little over 2 months. With this birth control my period comes exactly every 28 days. I also all had hormonal acne before taking this pill, but since being on it the only time I breakout is the week before my period, but nothing bad, just you’re normal pimple. I am thankful that I get 3 months worth before I need to go refill again. Cons: I get super emotional, but it’s whatever. The worst is that I get really intense cravings and I ended up gaining weight."

Sprintec (ethinyl estradiol / norgestimate) "I have endometriosis and PCOS and started taking these to help stop the constant heavy bleeding I was going through for months at a time. It did help with reducing the bleed. I would go weeks with out bleeding, but when I would bleed, it would take some time to stop. It was much lighter than I am used to though so it wasn’t a big deal. Over time I began to lose a little weight, not much. My hair started falling out, my sex drive decreased to nothing and began to feel depressed. Almost a year later, the depression has become a lot worse. There are days where it is completely overwhelming and I can’t do anything."

Estarylla (ethinyl estradiol / norgestimate) "I have been on Estyrella for 5 months now, for endometriosis. Although it has taken my pain away, my periods are literally 3 weeks long. When I called my obgyn about it, they said I needed to ride it out until the 6 month mark to regulate my period. Absolutely do not recommend as a birth control. Will be changing at the 6 month mark."

Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo (ethinyl estradiol / norgestimate) "This is the third and most likely last hormonal BCP I tried in order to reduce the debilitating pain I go through almost every month, on the first or second day of my period. If I don't wake up before my period cramps start to take some pain medication, there's a 90% chance I'll be throwing up whatever medication I take and then 3-4 times again after until I eventually fall asleep exhausted from all the vomit, diarrhea, dry heaving... I switched to this pill because the first BCP I tried made me have week long breakthrough bleeding and second one left me depressed. This pill though left me severely depressed with no energy and made me bleed for 20 days straight... Sure the cramps were gone but I rather go through my cramps than this any day"

Sprintec (ethinyl estradiol / norgestimate) "This birth control made me bleed for well over 8 days and counting, it's also making me shed stuff like crazy and daily cramps. I only took it because I have horrible unbearable, intolerable cramps each month and I decided to try it to avoid the cramps and while it did calm my usual extremely painful cramps, the continued bleeding and cramps make it not worth it. The only plus I can say is that it didn't break me out like others do, in fact it may of helped my skin."

"I only started birth control because my cramps every month were so severe I would vomit and could barely walk. This lessened my cramps only slightly, but added cramping throughout the whole month instead of it just being the first three days of my period. I went to my doctor and switched today because she feels I could do better and reduce my period from 5 days to only 3. I never had any negative side effects that I noticed. I've always had some problems with acne, but Sprintec did not change it either way. I also had no abnormal mood issues from this medication. Since the only reason I'm on it is to stop cramps, and it didn't do that, I have to switch. I hope my new one will be successful and not have any side effects!"

Sprintec (ethinyl estradiol / norgestimate) "On a search for birth control that doesn't make me nauseous while helping my death feeling cramps and this wasn't it. When my horrible cramps hit this month, I took the first pill of the pack and have felt so throw up nauseous ever since after only 1 pill. I'm at a loss for what to do about my cramps at this point, when the pill makes me so sick it's not worth taking it either."

Sprintec (ethinyl estradiol / norgestimate) "I wanted to start by saying everyone reacts differently to different drugs. What works for one person may not work for another. I am 23. I started taking it when I was 15 or 16. I originally started taking it to regulate my periods and clear my skin and it worked. When I was 19, I had awful period pain discovered at 22 years old I had endo. I went into surgery and had it removed. Now I am taking it continuously. I still have random spotting, and my memory... well, my memory is shot. It's mostly my short-term memory. My boobs got bigger. I was D; now I'm a DD., not complaining. The pill didn't make me gain my endo did tho. Out of pocket if you use pill club it's $40 for 6 months or something like that."

Ortho Tri-Cyclen (ethinyl estradiol / norgestimate) "2 stars for predictable periods. Periods were still painful and longer than normal. Nauseous every time I took it, even with food. Constant abdominal discomfort while on it. I felt depressed and unmotivated. I was on it for a year and decided to stop taking it after it was recommended that I take it continuously (skip sugar pill week) because I got a period the 2nd week that was heavy and very painful. As soon as I stopped the pain diminished greatly and my mood improved. Won’t be going back to this."

Tri-Sprintec (ethinyl estradiol / norgestimate) "For treating endometriosis and helping alleviate my painful and heavy flowing periods, this did the trick. HOWEVER it made me an absolute monster. My mood swings were out of control. I was either angry or incredibly sad all the time. My depression hit hard and I had never been more anxious than I was on this medicine. I gained weight on this and lost all of my energy. The worst parts of myself were brought to the forefront on this medicine. I talked to my doctor and she swiftly changed me to something else, and it was literally like magic when I got off of this. For two months it felt like I had totally lost it, but once I got off this medicine, I got back to myself. I’m sure this works for some people, but it did not work for me at all."

Mononessa (ethinyl estradiol / norgestimate) "This is my first time taking birth control and I was a bit scared because looking at the reviews for mononessa, a lot of people said it caused them unpleasing side effects. My doctor originally prescribed me something else it's like "Tri-Ortho" something like that and the pharmacist gave me the generic version Mononessa. I have been on it for 7 whole days and the only side effect I have is on the first day I felt a tad bit nauseous but that is all. No major mood swings, headaches, or vomiting like I've seen a lot of people write but everyone is different. My experience has been good so far. Hopefully it will stay like this. I am prone to feeling side effects to medication and I am honestly surprised I didn't get any severe ones... yet."

Tri-Sprintec (ethinyl estradiol / norgestimate) "I’ve apparently had endometriosis since the day my period started - I am now 33 years old. Only in last year I’ve had episodes that are untreatable with heat pads or ibuprofen, unbearable 10/10 cramps, hot flashes, and fatigue, in the mornings. I was put on combined birth control until it started to fail. I’m now on Tri-Sprintec. I started to get very mild cramps and light periods. It’s been 3 months and I’m finally past the hives breaking out all over my body. My skin is still sensitive but it was worth avoiding the unbearable pain, anxiety, and obvious progression of endo."

"I was more than nervous to start taking birth control for many reasons. My main concern was that I was going to have break through bleeding or really horrible side effects. I didn't have quick start so I waited for the first Sunday after my period to start the pill. Sunday just so happened to be the last day of my period and I took the pill at 10:30 at night and had trouble sleeping the first night. My first days/week I had VERY mild headaches and felt a BIT sick throughout the day. Definitely mild enough to ignore. My emotions have been fine, aside from crying a bit easily than normal. No bleeding, no weight gain, my skin is getting better and I am overall very impressed with this birth control. It all depends on the person though I got lucky but I know some of my friends have had some side effects."

Mono-Linyah (ethinyl estradiol / norgestimate) "Was told this was the generic version of Sprintec that works just as well, that was a lie. I take birth control for my endometriosis and painful periods but since I have been on this BC I've been cramping and spotting every single day for 2 months. When I was on Sprintec this never happened I won't be taking this BC anymore"

Mono-Linyah (ethinyl estradiol / norgestimate) "I had been on the depo-provera shot for many years having a good experience. Towards the end I had some bleeding. I went off it for 2 1/2 years. After meeting with my doctor he put me on mono- Linyah. I am 27 years old 5 foot 1 and weigh 115lbs possible endometriosis. I started on the first day of my cycle at 7:30 in the morning. By 10am I was experiencing a migraine and by afternoon I was nauseous. This continued for 6 days. Symptoms progressively got worse. The migraine was so bad I could hardly think straight. My stomach hurt so bad with cramps and gas. I was vomiting everyday by 3 in the afternoon. As well my left ovary which was already enlarged had the worst pains I’ve ever felt. I’ve had cysts rupture the past year and cause nausea and vomiting but I’ve never had a pain this bad. It honestly felt like I had a baseball for my left ovary that was about to explode. I took my last pill on day 6 at 7:30 Am and the next day at 8pm I was finally feeling better."

Tri-Sprintec (ethinyl estradiol / norgestimate) "I rated it a 4 because I have only taken it for a week now and have already experienced mood swings. I just get super angry for no reason. Nausea headaches and since I’ve been taking it I’ve been getting severe stomach cramps. I want to keep taking it to help my periods because they are painful and long due to endometriosis so hopefully it will stop but we will see."
