For Birth Control "Before getting on Microgestin Fe 1/20, I was on Yasmin. I never had any problems with Yasmin, although my period was slightly heavier than desirable. I have been on Microgestin now for four months and literally go through 2 full period cycles in a row each month. It is awful and inconvenient. My doctor actually put me on the pill because of the reports of shorter periods. I know that all bodies react differently, but be cautious of this problem, if you do not want to chance it. I have also experienced severe mood swings, but I cannot discredit it regarding actual birth control. Just remember to take it at the same time, daily."

For Birth Control "I was on Loestrin 24 FE for years until they stopped making samples of it, and it was too expensive to buy. My doctor switched me to this pill. I lost 15-20 lbs, moods have been more stable and my sex drive has increased dramatically! The only con was i did break out really bad when I first switched, but now I'm on my 3rd pack and I'm getting my breakouts under control. I'm amazed at the weight I lost and didn't realize I gained it from my old birth control.. This is my new favourite!"

For Birth Control "Im 18 and don't like this pill the first week of side effects was horrible I couldn't even get up. I've been taking it for 3 months and only got my period 1 time ... I don't like that because it scares me. I gained like 15 pounds and been so depressed. I will be switching soon"

For Acne "Most people that are complaining that they got acne using it are most most likely in their first/second month of using it. I'm almost at my fifth month of taking Microgestin and I rarely break out now. I've definitely been noticing that my skin looks better. Also, I have been weighing myself and have not gained weight from it. My advice is, just keep on taking it because most symptoms (mainly the acne part) gets worse before it gets better."

For Birth Control "It made my boobs bigger, ZERO negative side effects, and my period is practically non-existent. It's my favorite birth control I've ever been on. Most birth controls make me have crazy mood swings and gain weight. This one didn't. I will be using this for life."

For Birth Control "Months 1-2= no cramping, came right on time, incredibly light, period lasted 1-3 days, no weight gain, no acne Month 3= crazy mood swings, not myself, didn't feel motivated, hurt my family/boyfriend's feelings a lot. months 4,5= felt normal again, happy in my relationships, acne normal, no weight gain still, period came a week early both months with lots of brown discharge and then bleeding the week of my period month 6= period came right on time, mild cramping, no mood swings, acne normal, period not heavy but not as light as months 1-2 Overall, stick with this pill. It can be rocky, but I think I've gone through everything and am leveling out."

For Menstrual Disorders "I got my tubes tied about 8 months ago and it ruined me. Extremly painful heavy periods. I mean to the point where I could not walk. Painful ovulation and for the first time ever--- my skin broke out like a teenager. I have never ever had skin issues. My Dr put me on hormone therapy. Started with junel, but that did nothing. My insurance changed it to microgestin and I was a little apprehensive. I started taking it to try it out, and I love it! My skin cleared up in a matter of a week, no weight gain, no mood swings and very light periods! It did make me nauseous at first but that went away. It also increased my breast size a bit. I read the reviews and was nervous to try it, but I must say, I love it!"

For Birth Control "I'm 5'7 & 120lbs, late 20's Latina & I've been using this birth control for 7 years now & have never had a problem. Switched from Nuvaring to Microgestin 1/20 when I was 21. After about 3 months of use I noticed my cystic acne started clearing up, periods got shorter, then lighter. Now at 28 I get my period about 3-4 times a year, usually very light & lasting 2-3 days. Never had a pregnancy scare either. I used to have heavy 7 day periods but this changed everything for me."

For Birth Control "I have been on Microgestin Fe 1/20 for almost 9 Months & I have to say that I can't complain. This birth control has worked very well with my body, few days or none periods, I do actually notice I get really emotional. Haven't noticed any difference in sex drive. Overall great pill."

For Birth Control "I gained about 10-12 lbs and couldn't lose it which is weird since I eat very raw and workout hard 4-5 times aweek. As soon as I switched I lost it immediately. I also stopped getting huge cysts all over my body."

For Birth Control "My insurance had changed my usual pill to this one Microgestin Fe 1/20 due to insurance and it has been terrible. I have constant depression and anxiety. I'm always angry over small things and it does not even help my heavy periods/cramping which is what I take the pill for. I will be switching again and paying the difference just so I don't have to go through this anymore."

For Birth Control "Good pill, does what it's supposed to- protects from pregnancy. Clears acne. Regulates periods. BUT mood swings were definitely noticed, and a small weight gain (10lbs or less). I had always weighed around 130 and have been 140 with the pill, and extremely moody- extremely happy or extremely sad- no medium. Every person will have different reactions obviously, just sharing my own experiences."

For Birth Control "This is my first pack of Microgestin Fe 1/20. I asked two of my coworkers if they liked being on this pill and they said it was okay. Unfortunately, I get headaches like crazy. I'm finding that for every pill I take, I also take an Advil! The only positive thing from this pill is that its making my breasts grow (I'm on the smaller side). My breast do hurt and are tender all the time. Not sure if I want to continue this pill because the headaches are really interrupting my life style. Not to mention, I get super moody. I tell people not to take it personally, that it's my hormones. Definitely, more negative than positive."

For Menstrual Disorders "I've been on this for two cycles and I hardly have any side effects! No weight gain or nausea like some others have experienced on it. I'm a little more sensitive and get more upset over things but overall it's been great. Just keep yourself in check and remember that you're on hormones when you start getting overly sensitive. I would recommend this."

For Birth Control "I am 19, And weigh approximately 112-117 lbs. Doctor changed from Microgestion FE 1.5/30 to 1/20 because of weight loss experienced due to diet change (can't eat well in the GA summer heat >.>) Anyway. I began spotting on day 2 and by day 5, I was having a period, I decided to wait another week before calling my doctor, and the bleeding was consistent with a "normal" period. I believe it was too light for me. I was also a bit emotional. Crying jags over the silliest of things. Did not improve acne. Hope this helps."

For Birth Control "I just read most of the reviews and half of them to me are ridiculous, anxiety, and depression?? your period gives you mood swings being a girl you get mood swings !!! I've been on this pill since I was 15 I am 22 now never had a problem unless I miss a few pills, I have never been pregnant, very light blood, no cramps, very little pimples to anyone with bad acne and bad cramps I highly recommend this pill. I used to throw up because of my bad cramps and now I rarely even get one"

For Birth Control "I wanted to write a review because I see so many people saying it caused them side effects, so I wanted to share a positve review so potential users aren't afraid to try it. I had no side effects whatsoever from this drug. I've been on it for 8 years and haven't gotten pregnant so it is definitely effective. And a bonus has been much lighter periods."

For Acne "After 2 1/2 years of horrible acne, during which I was on antibiotics & topicals that never ended up working, my dermatologist and Dr. suggested I should try birth control. I went to Planned Parenthood and was put on Microgestin Fe 1/20. After about 6 months on this pill, I actually lost weight (due to nausea at first), breasts grew, lighter periods every month, and no change in everything else. As for my acne, it probably got better about 40%, but still had at least 3-5 pimples/cysts all the time and no reduction in face oiliness. Trial and error, now trying Ortho Tri Cyclen."

For Menstrual Disorders "I have been on the pill for about 3 weeks now, everything has been going okay. I have less mood swings I'm more calm and my sex drive has improved so that's a plus. There are a few side effects I've experienced though, my acne is breaking out again, I've been having spotting and severe cramps, but I'm going to finish my 3 months and see how it goes... hope this helps good luck ladies!"

For Birth Control "I hate this pill. The first three months went by smoothly. Suddenly my face began breaking out and leaving horrible dark marks. After that my mood began to change. I'm now 5 months into these pills and I feel like a completely different person. I can't sleep at night if I take these pills, but I sleep perfectly if I skip a dose. I cry or get upset over small things, which is very unlike me. I don't feel like doing anything anymore. It's a chore to get out of bed. I'm gaining weight like crazy even though my appetite hasn't changed. I was a very happy and energetic person before taking these pills. I don't recognize myself. I plan to either switching brands or getting off of birth control completely. I need to find my happiness/sanity again."

For Birth Control "I've been on Microgestin 1/20 for 4 months. Gained weight, mood swings, horrible cramps and bleeding in between periods. I don't feel like myself at all. I've been bleeding for 7 days now. They only thing this had done for is heighten my sex drive. I've decided to stop taking it. Going back to condoms. "

For Birth Control "Literally put me in such a dark place, I think I cried every day for months on this pill. I talked to my doctor and she said I maybe needed therapy. I switched birth controls just Incase because a friend suggested that might be the issue and right when I switched I felt like a weight was lifted and I turned completely back to my happy self!! Basically I feel like doctors often don’t talk about the mental side effects of birth control pills a lot. So if you are ever depressed and think it’s that, don’t let anyone talk you out of switching! But everyone’s body is different so it might work for you. My favorite is amethyst/lybrel since it has one of the lowest doses of estrogen you can get in a combination pill- for me less estrogen = less side effects! I feel great now!"

For Birth Control "I'm going on my second month of Microgestin. I was on Seasonique before pregnancy which I had no problem with but I have a new doctor now. The first couple weeks I had light spotting and nausea but it has decreased. I had my period right before the placebo week. I have gained about 4Ibs so far and my breast have went up a cup size but that is a plus for me. I have also experienced a huge increase in sex drive which is unusual. I have no complaints so far, I just hope my periods are predictable."

For Endometriosis "I started Microgestin 1/20 at age 38 for painful periods due to endometriosis. The first two days I was so sick, but it went away. I think my situation is unique because I was put on this pill to reduce periods. I skip the placebo pill week, and continue onto the next pack of active pills to avoid a period. Its amazing! My "gut" finally feels great! A few not so great things: 5 LB. weight gain almost immediately. GAS. I became really gassy. Not cute. Not sure how to deal with that. SWEET TOOTH. Never had it before. Now I've got one. Overall, I'm pleased."

For Birth Control "I have been taking this pill for about 6 months, to prevent pregnancy. I've had regularly light periods and my appetite has drastically decreased, but I haven't been losing weight. It slowed my sex drive down in the first few months of use, but my drive is back to normal now. I am also very moody, lethargic, and constipated. However, I like it since it is preventing me from getting pregnant and it's free."
