"I was on this for over a year in that time I gained weight became so stiff in my legs and arms. I was sore all the time had abdominal pain all the time. My Doctor said it was due to a cyst or my pain was something else. I was having chest pains and left arm pain for weeks. I went to a new doctor. He stopped the meds immediately and sent me for an EKG. I don't drink, I don't smoke and am 37 years old and this medicine is poison. I have been off of it for two weeks I feel great I've lost 12 pounds in just water retention I don't feel tight...no more arm pain or chest pain! I feel so good"

"Been on the pill for about 9 months. Only the first month had side effects. Since then, my mental health has finally stabilized. I have had severely unstable moods since I was 9. I also had premenstural dysphoric disorder and extreme cramping. Since taking the pill, my whole life has improved and I'm able to accomplish things such as going to a regular school full time. Now my period only lasts 3 days, and my sex drive is still there :)."

"Have endometriosis and took microgestin 1/20 continuously for no periods. Haven’t gotten my period since but experienced extreme moodiness and slight depression the first 4 months. Spotted everyday for 5 months as well, with slight cramping... I took it like a champ cause most birth control will cause this. It’s been 6 months now and all the side effects went away and I’m perfectly normal and happy now with no periods."

"I started on Microgestin 1/20 2 months ago to treat menstrual migraines that were sending me to the hospital. I have always suffered with cramps during my period to the point where I would break out in a sweat and faint from the pain. I was bed ridden for days on end and also experienced heavy periods that required a new pad every 2 hours. I had not been on any other birth control pills in years and I notice a difference the first month taking them. I did not experience any sort of negative side effects aside from increased appetite which I don't mind. My cramps are virtually gone, my pain level is basically non existant aside from a bit of dull ache for an hour or 2 at the beginning of my cycle. Breast tenderness is gone and my periods are so light I would call it spotting that lasts 4 days or so. I haven't been taking this medication very long but it's done wonders for me. I recommend them highly for anyone experiencing what I have mentioned above."

"I have lost 11lbs in 2 months, my period has gotten back on track and my skin has cleared. I don't know if this is a common side effect, but within 5-10 minutes of take my dose of 1 pill I immediately have to urinate. My appetite has decreased while taking this medicine, which has contributed to my recent weight loss. I have cystic acne around my under breast area and on my face cheeks, this medicine has cleared all of this acne. My period is back to once a month for 5-7 days, before I would skip 2-3 months at a time and would only spot for a day or two."

"I was put on Microgestin 1/20 to not only prevent pregnancy, but to prevent the severe cramps I had. It worked well by helping with the cramps and I had almost zero side effects but one- spotting. I spotted almost every day. I continued taking the prescription in hopes the spotting would pass, but it didn't. My OB-GYN then put me on Microgestin 1.5/30 for a few months, to see if that would help. Unfortunately, it didn't, so I stopped taking birth control all together. Hopefully I can find one that works for me!"

"I've been on this pill for about a month now. I've been bleeding since the first day I started it. I'm now up to my placebo pills which I'm just going to take. I'm hoping my body adjusts soon because the bleeding/spotting is quite aggravating. I've been moody, but I'm a generally moody person and would have to wait it out to say it's the pill doing it. My appetite has actually decreased, which is something I wasn't expecting at all. Other than the bleeding, no complaints on this pill this far."

"I like Microgestin. My doctor originally put me on Lo Loestrin Fe which caused me breakthrough bleeding everyday. Since Microgestin has double the estrogen if Lo Loestrin Fe, but still considered very low dose. Had minor spotting only in the beginning. No other negative side effects."

"I've been taking microgestin for about a year and a half now, and it just recently occurred to me that the pill is the reason for my mental decline. When I first started the pill things were fine I didn't have any abnormal side effects except for the slight, almost unnoticeable weight gain. Looking back, I've noticed a gradual yet severe change in my mood and happiness. It wasn't until a year and a half later I realized the pill was the reason for this. I sobbed to my mom one night and she explained that the pill did that to her too. After speaking with my gyno the next day, she assured me the progestin in Microgestin was the reason for my depression. I switched to Aviane and feel much much better."

"This birth control helped all of my physical symptoms from PMDD and endometriosis, no longer did I cramp and swell all over like a balloon 3 weeks before my period (I was bloating up to 10 lbs almost), my near constant fatigue went away. My breasts grew like 2 cups sizes but they hurt all the time. Also, my scalp hair grew like crazy, it was thicker and fuller than it had been since I was a teenager and my skin was literally GLOWING. I thought I had found the answer to my problems until I slowly began to cry over nothing all the time, have insane anger and lash out at others irrationally... I was so depressed and down after 9 months being on this medication. I even tried to physically attack somebody while drinking which I have never done before, I stopped this medication immediately then. I also had white discharge all the time . If you become depressed on this or sensitive to things like this DO NOT TAKE THIS."

"For me, the time on this pill was a nightmare. I took this pill for 2 years until the start of 2019. Then, took a six month break because I thought the creeping anxiety and depression I'd experienced might be linked to the pill. I went back on Microgestin in June 2019 and things seemed okay. Until September. Suddenly, I felt like my head was in a constant fog again. It started making me anxious, I couldn’t think straight. I started to feel numb, mentally. Like I couldn’t be happy. Then, I started snapping at my partner who I absolutely adore, and realized it was happening again. Long story short, if you’re not feeling like yourself, don’t hesitate to try switching or stopping pills (with a doctor’s advice of course). I’ve had three instances now of feeling like myself again after stopping a birth control pill."

"When I first started this medication I became very very irritable. Like anything at any given moment could set me off. I also had a very dry area but After about a month and a half both went away. I’ve noticed my sex drive is quite low. I’m not pregnant tho "

"This medicine is awful. I originally started taking it for stomach cramps and regulating my period and I wish I never started taking it in the first place. I was on the second week of my third pack and felt AWFUL. Not only was I nauseous 24/7 I got headaches, cramps in my upper and lower back, side pains, chest pains. As well as a intolerance to gluten. At first I thought my stomach problem was from eating fast food but as I think about it I was nauseous the first month of taking this pill and it steadily got worse. I'm on my 2nd week off the pill and I'm going through serious side effects of my body trying to regulate itself. I've lost 6 pounds & my appetite. DO NOT take this pill."

"This birth control has made my periods and overall symptoms worse than ever. I started taking it to help with my irregular periods, which after a few months, it did. But every other aspect of my periods have become worse. I used to have light periods with no symptoms, but after taking this birth control, I have had heavy periods with bad cramps, and I’ve developed cystic acne all over my chin and jaw. I’ve tried this birth control a few times over many years, but I’m finally quitting it for good. It has been awful to my skin and made my periods miserable, I cannot recommend this to anyone with relatively normal periods, because it has only made mine worse."

"I absolutely adore microgestin, now that I've been on it for three and a half months. The first two months were brutal. In the second week I had horrible uterine cramping and terrible cramping during my period also. The first month also, until I got used to it, it did give me mood swings, but did not make me depressed. Once I was on it for a few months, however, all of this went away. Right now I have mild breast tenderness but honestly it isn't bad at all and I'd recommend it to anyone."

"I've been taking microgestin fe for 3 months now. The first two there were no really bad side effects except some acne and heavy flow with nasty cramps that I was assured would go away by month three....ABSOLUTELY NOT. Month three has been the worst.....I break out all the time when I never used to get pimples, I feel nauseous and pukey all day every day, no food sounds or tastes good, I have back pain and lower abdominal pain, I'm bloated and swollen, and I've gained almost 8 pounds!!! This is absolutely miserable"

"Like other reviews said, you won't take the time to post a review if you're happy with it but I am. After switching from bc to bc this one finally worked on me. I went from having extremely heavy periods, pelvic pain, and not being able to stand up to a medium to light period the first month. Pain meds finally worked on me to remove the pain unlike before."

"I am finishing up my first month on it. The first two weeks were rough. I started my period on the first month and it was very heavy. My doctor had prescribed me with it to control my migraines and periods. So far no migraines and less acne. My breast have grown a whole cup size though."

"Took it for a year and although I loved it in the begining (lost weight, no acne), after about 6 months I realized I was feeling sad, tired, with no energy or no sex drive at all. Also experienced hair loss and nausea. Going off now and will try something else."

"My experience has been horrible. I have taken Loestrin brand for years and I have never had breakthrough bleeding with other BCs until now. I am halfway through my 3rd pack and I came back on a week after my cycle stopped. I am extremely heavy and it's worst than my normal period. I am going back to the doctor this week."

"So I started taking these and they were fine. I didn't have any complaints and then the 2nd week in I started bleeding everyday, I felt bloated and weak all the time. Had absolutely no energy. They haven't changed my mood at all and have also cleared up my skin, but I wouldn't recommend."

"Been taking Microgestin for three months. (Had to get off Levora because of seriously chronic nausea)The first month on Microgestin I was just a couple hours late taking a pill and bled almost immediately. Second and third months haven't missed a pill and my periods have been almost nonexistent. Super scary on month two but really an appreciated bonus I hope continues."

"So I've been on this birth control for about 10 months. Everything was totally fine, I had shorter and less painful periods, no mood swings (actually less mood swings than before), no weight gain. I used this to treat PCOs. The only complaint was an upset stomach almost all the time which was preferable to all the PCOs symptoms. But recently I've noticed that this medicine causes me to get lots of lumps in my breasts. I found one just yesterday thats not like the rest: its bigger and in a location I've never had any texture in before and its not mirrored in the other breast. I have some breast cancer in my family so now I am a constant nervous wreck about getting breast cancer. I'm probably going to stop taking these pills soon once I talk to my doctor."

"I was on Microgestin for 5 months. Although it solved my original problem of severe cramping (what I thought was ovarian cysts), Microgestin had many side effects for me. I experienced nausea right before periods, depression, anxiety, and extreme mood swings. I was sleeping a lot during the day which caused me to not sleep at night. I am switching to Trinessa and hope it fixes these problems."

"Awful Birth Control - If your doctor has prescribed this to you, please ask them to reconsider because it truly shouldn't even be on the market. Spotting, nausea, headaches, weight gain, are all a few side effects."
