"This pill worked well for me. I was first put on the pill to help heavy periods and for contraception. I’ve tried various brands with bad side effects until this one that I was on for 2 years. Loestrin really agreed with me! I didn’t get any spotting, no skin problems and I found it easier to lose weight with a small amount of effort. It didn’t help much with my heavy periods but no pill has. It was good being able to control when my period came. You have to be quite accurate with when you take it everyday though. You also have to give it about 4 months to settle. The mini pill before this which was horrific. The mini pill gave me oily skin, acne and greasy hair within hours of washing. Loestrin was a relief and stopped all those symptoms. I’ve now been off the pill for a year as I wasn’t having sex that much and wanted to see what I’m like natural after 10 years of various pill taking. It’s made me realise how much Loestrin helped with my skin and weight!"

"From the reviews I've read, it sounds like if you were on Yaz%u201A Yasmin, or Ocella as I was, this is a great pill to switch to. I am on my second week of my second pack and my first period was almost nonexistent! Watch out for pregnancy panics because of little to no periods. Haven't experienced any negative side effects. I have noticed clearer skin, increased sex drive, and the start of increased cup size, my boobs feel heavier and fuller!"

"I was given this prescription to help with VERY mild acne at the time, but mostly to help with my irregular cycle and unusually long periods. The first month I was taking this my period lasted about 4 or 5 weeks after, much longer than the usual week/week and a half. I also noticed how my acne specifically on my chin and jawline worsened, which was disappointing as I was sure this pill would help get rid of my acne not make it worse. My cramps are terrible around this time, and my breasts hurt so much it’s nearly unbearable. I am 4 months in and I am never taking this again, the only good thing about this is that after the first period the rest are short and regulated. Would not recommend this to anyone unless you can put up with the pain and cramps and acne."

"It was convenient having the diminished periods. However, when I was on this pill it put me into a horrible major depression. I had never before experienced any mental trauma or illness, and as soon as I realized that it might have been this birth control and took myself off of it I was basically back to normal in about two weeks. It affects everyone differently, but I also had found out that friend of mine was on this pill and she, too was uncharacteristically depressed. "

"I'm currently at the end of my third pack of these and so far it's not so bad. This is the first time I've been on "the pill". The first two months I had a bit of spotting but I didn't get my period... so of course I had a mini panic attack. I didn't notice much else, and the second month was the same. This last month I noticed I did gain a couple pounds but not much to worry about since it seems it mostly just went to my boobs and back side, can't say I mind too much. Also the spotting has pretty much almost gone away and I still haven't had my period. I know I can't be pregnant seeing as I use other methods of contraception as well but it would be nice to have at least a days worth of a period to calm my nerves."

"I was on loestrin for about 5 years until I decided to take a break and get off the pill. Although my skin was clear and it was effective at basically eliminating my period and most cramping, DO NOT TAKE THIS PILL. It gave me horrible mood swings, anxiety and made me irrational, unreasonable and angry (basically insane) - which I didn't realize until I stopped taking it. I honestly thought I was just me until I got off and felt much more like myself. I've been happy and upbeat ever since."

"I switched from Kariva because I was having pretty bad cramping during my period. I have been on Loestrin for a week. The first 3-4 days I had severe migraines constantly. I was relieved when that passed, but a few days later the insomnia began. I have a horrible time falling asleep and when I can fall asleep it's a very light sleep and I feel exhausted all day which is terrible since I have a 14 month old to care for. I'm talking to my doctor and either switching back to Kariva (I'd rather have cramps than this) or using another method. I'm over pills. Can someone please make a pill for men? It's so unfair that we have to put our bodies through this to prevent pregnancy."

"I am so glad I found this web site. I have been having horrible breast pain and was actually pretty scared until I saw the side effects some women have had taking this pill. I personally was going to have my doctor change this medication due to my having NO sex drive at all. I have always had a super high sex drive and I went to not wanting to have sex at all. I have been on Loestrin for a little over six months. The symptoms are not getting better for me. Just worse. I have gained about 8lbs and I do have some up and down mood swings. I never thought about the little things this pill could be responsible for. Thank you to everyone that posted."

"Only thing I can say about the Loestrin 24 FE is AWESOME. I have been on these pills for 6yrs now and in the beginning my period lasted 2 to 3 days and as time went on it decreased even more and went to 24hrs and my period was over. Later on it changed again and I came on and was off in 12hrs. Today, I haven't had a period at all I know in yrs. I love these pills but the only downfall is even though I don't come on I still have the mood swings, irritating moments, feeling strange, headaches etc. but at the time when my period would have been ending that's when everything goes away. I did used to worry in the beginning when I completely stopped having a period but now I know its just the way these pills are with my body."

"It has been about a month since I've begun taking this medication. I knew from the start my body would begin to feel different but I did not know the actual severity until now. I was diagnosed with endometriosis and possibly PCOS so my doctor put me on birth control as the first step. However, I have gotten a horrible acne spill all over my forehead ( I rarely got acne prior to this medication). On top of the acne, I have the weirdest mood swings. Some days I will be super happy while other days I just want to bury myself in my blanket and cry all day. I am hoping my doctor prescribes another type of BC that could help in all!"

"I just started taking the pill almost two months now and aside from certain downsides I like it. My periods are so little its basically only spotting and I no longer have any cramps, which I am thankful for because prior I could barely move in peace with them. Only things that are deeply disturbing is the weight gain that I gained in such a small period of time also my breasts have become increasingly sore at all times of the day. I have mood swings every now and again and in the beginning I would get depressed very quickly but that didn't last long. Hope it works for you"

"I've been using Lo Loestrin Fe for about 3 years now. I'm 18 now and started it when I was 15. For the most part my skin was pretty clear. Up until senior year of HS my skin got crazy. Pimples popping up everyday and leaving awful red scars. (My obgyn is putting me on yaz soon) Not excited about that either birth co of all the horrible reviews Ive read. I also have no had a period since starting the pill which Ive really enjoyed. I rate this a 5 because my doctor thinks that the Lo Loestrin is whats causing my acne. But I'm not too convinced."

"I've never had any problems with the length or intensity of my period but on this pill I felt sick all the time, dizzy, anxious, moody and tired. My skin broke out and I had hot flushes. Every 3 days I had cramps and my breasts were tender. I've been running 4-8 miles a day and still gained weight. This pill made me feel like I was pregnant all over again. Not a good choice of pill for me!"

"So this is my second time on this birth control. When I took it correctly I wouldn't have many periods and never super painful. I'm terribly sensitive to most birth controls. My migraines were so bad they thought I had a tumor. But it was too much estrogen in the birth control. The first time went well but I was taken off of it due migraines again with auras. But later I figured out it was biotin instead. So far I'm 4 months on this and my skin hasn't looked healthier in the past 6 months. My periods are more like two days of light cramping and then brown sludge for 3 to 4 days. I'll gladly take that over other periods for sure. For me this works because it's such a low dose."

"I’m on the generic version of this pill and it’s the worst thing ever and have been for four months now. I am constantly anxious, depressed, nauseous, and moody. Not to mention I had two yeast infections in this time period from the pill. I’ve never had a yeast infection before. I am constantly dry down there and my boobs are always sore. I didn’t gain weight but I did loose a lot of hair. This pill is suppose to let me have sex and prevent pregnancy when since being on this pill it’s made sex miserable and painful to where I don’t even have sex anymore. Lube doesn’t even make it better."

"I am almost done with my first pack of this birth control to help with my irregular & painful periods. It has helped with pain and not caused me any pain BUT I have gotten horrible acne on my chest and chin & my face skin has been super red and itchy. I am so glad to see other people are experiencing this. I will no longer be taking this medicine."

"I've been on Loestrin 24 for about 8 months. Since I've been on it I have lost my sex drive, can't sleep, slurred speech, headaches, you name it. I was happy to see other users have had similar side effects. I have been going crazy thinking something was wrong and now I know it's the pill! I have to say an upside to the pill is I started with short, light periods and now I don't even get my period at all. But the side effects are just too much to handle so I'm getting off this pill."

"I was on Loestrin for a year and I loved how light my periods were and how much less my cramps were. Within a month of not taking it, I could tell what a difference it made. My acne didn't really change much. I will say though that it did mess with my mental status. At random, I would get depressed for little to no reason. Then at my most recent doctor appointment, I was shocked to realized I had gained around 20 lbs. I had become well aware of my constant bloated stomach but I had no idea I had gained so much. I loved how light Loestrin made my cycles but I won't take it due to all this weight retention. I've even been working out more than before I started the pill!"

"I have a new found love for this birth control after switching from it to Seasonique to get out of having a period every month. The Seasonique made me gain weight and I broke out horribly. Been back on Loestrin a week and the weight is gone, my face is back to normal, my poor breasts are coming back (this birth control makes my breasts go up at least a cup size, awesome side effect). Beside the breast growth it has also not failed me as a birth control method, I'm always sure to take it exactly on time every day."

"I started taking Loestrin 24 Fe when I was 19 years old for 4 years. I have a slim body and I'm active. My periods are light and I don't get cramps or back aches while on my period and I don't have problems with acne. My periods were just very irregular. I would sometimes get my period the next month, the next week, and even the next three months! And they would last like 1 week, 2 weeks and even 4 weeks one time! I was on Loestrin for 4 years because it didn't give me any negative side effects. It gave me regular periods and I never got pregnant. I stopped taking it because my doc told me they discontinued it! So she prescribed me Minastrin 24 Fe. I looked up the reviews for it and didn't like what I saw. So I've been off bc for 2 years."

"I started taking this birth control because my doctor told me that I would have a 2-3 day period so I was open to try it. After about 3 weeks I had noticed I had huge pimples all over my face. I never had perfectly clear skin (I usually have 2 or 3 on my face) but I never HUGE bumps allllllll over my face. I have now realized that this birth control is the reason for it. I am coming off of it TODAY!"

"I am 22 years old and this is the first time I've been on a BC. After reading all the bad reviews I wanted to make sure that there is at least a good one. Everyone's body is different and reacts different. So don't let scary reviews scare you away. Try it for yourself and if you don't like it you can always find something that you do like. I have been on this BC for 3 weeks going on 4 and I love it so far! No spotting, mood swings, headaches, depression and my skin is more clear than before. I have also noticed my boobs are getting bigger, they're a little sore but not bad. So far I'd say its a good experience "

"I have tried many birth control pills and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE LOVE this pill. So many others have cause extreme moodiness, anger, and depression. This pill works great at keeping my hormones level, my skin is clear and I have had no weight gain. My period is barely anything and usually I don't even have one. I highly recommend this pill. I know everyone is different but if you have tried other and they caused you to lose your mind, try this one. The only downfall is that it can be pricey if your insurance does not fully cover it."

"I have been taking these pills for a few months now. I have been experiencing major sweating issues. I sweat through most of my clothes and experience "hot flash" type feeling through out the day. I did like that this pill has made my periods extremely light and they only last for about 2 days. That is nice but I am not sure if I can deal with the excessive sweating."

"I have been on Loestrin 24 for 10 months now and my periods haven't been longer than 3 days, the third month my period was really heavy and I had bad cramps. As far as birth control, I haven't been having sex, and I never had bad acne to begin with. Overall, I've had a moderate experience. I take the pill in the morning and it does make me nauseous. I also am very depressed on it, and experience crazy mood swings. I spend at least one day out of the month crying, and the littlest thing will ruin my mood, or make me want to cry. My mom and sister talk about how I have multiple personalities because my mood is so unpredictable. "
