"This is my first birth control pill. I'm 24 and have been on Lo Loestrin Fe for a little over a year now. The only TERRIBLE side effect I've gotten from this pill is a horrible sweet tooth. When I first started taking it, I just wanted to eat chocolate, and I gained about 10 lbs. Other than that, sometimes I don't get a period, sometimes I do, and it's anything from a dot to light bleeding for 4 days. Varies month to month. I don't have any spotting between periods, my sex drive is in overload, so it doesn't dry you out or anything. I really love this pill, it just costs a lot with my insurance, but to me, it's worth it."

"I was prescribed Lo Loestrin Fe for my debilitating cramps and anemia. I was on another hormone treatment a few years back but stopped taking it due to low finances. On a regular check-up, my doctor suggested trying birth control pills again even though it is not pregnancy prevention I am seeking. I agreed since I am unmarried and do not intend on having children in the next few years. Now I am on my third month of using Lo Loestrin, and I am liking it so far. My cramps have slowly become minimal, my bleeding is no longer insanely heavy, my last period lasted 4 days instead of 7, and best of all, I do not feel severely ill due to my anemia."

"Personally I really love Lo Loestrin and I wanted to give a positive review as so many are negative. For those who want to know how effective is Lo Loestrin - it is great. I’ve been on it for a few years and it has given me such freedom with very light and short periods, I really had no side effects. I may have lost some weight but nothing significant, my skin is great, and I haven’t had cramps in years. It’s greatly improved my quality of life."

"I started this pill on the first day of period. My period lasted for a week like it normally does. I had sex 2 weeks into taking the pill. Then the next day I started spotting. Then it turned into full blown period. So basically in the 3 weeks I've been the pill, I've been on my period twice. This period is really irritating. Or maybe because this is period #2 in 3weeks. My breasts seem bigger. My weight is stable, but I am craving chocolate. No acne yet. Overall I'm pissed. I started the pill, for ovarian cyst, and pain. But I'm still in pain, and cramping and most of all I'm still bleeding."

"Lo Loestrin Fe is by far the best birth control I have ever tried! I cannot tell you how many different contraceptives I have tried, and they have all made me miserable. I've had absolutely no side effects on Lo Loestrin Fe. My skin is clear, my periods last maybe a day, and it's super light. Absolutely no cramps or nausea. My weight fluctuates on its own, so I wouldn't blame the pill for that, lol."

"This is my first time taking birth control pills. I am on my second pack, and I have not had my period since I started. I have bad cramping and bloating to the point where it feels like my period wants to come on but won't. I have very bad mood swings, which is affecting my relationship, breast tenderness. I take a pregnancy test every month because I have pregnancy symptoms. My sex drive is really low, but the pill works very well preventing pregnancy. I never really had an acne problem until I started taking these pills. I have not gained any weight, but I have not lost any either, and I work out a lot. I will be going to my doctor to talk about changing to something else."

"I only had a period every 6 months if at all on Lo Loestrin Fe. I had acne, some weight gain, and my vag was dry all the time, 0 sex drive and it wasn't normal. I took it from 16 to 18 y/o. Would rate it more than 1 for no pregnancy but I never had sex on it. I am now in my 20s and take Femynor and I love it so much, no issues"

"I've been on this pill for around 11 months, and for the most part, I find it good. I started off using it just to regulate my period, not knowing that it would just go away after the first few months. I'm sexually active, and I find that it does decrease my sex drive. It was very frightening when I stopped having my period, and I did gain weight, but I take pregnancy tests periodically (just as a precaution). I still have period symptoms at the end of the pack, but I haven't had one in 7 months. The worst thing I find about this pack is that it makes me more emotional and increases my headaches."

"I'm on my 9th month; just about 40 years old, given to me for severe cramps and horrible bleeding that has worsened over the past 2 years. My daughter is 15 and just started her first pack about 3 weeks ago. She has been sick more days than I can count, not sleeping well, lost 10 pounds, gets lightheaded often, nausea usually in the evening, as well as moody. She's had the breakthrough bleeding just like I did. What I noticed is when we talked is we've both been suffering from the lightheaded feelings quite often at any given time and any place. We both tend to feel tired at the end of most days; headaches and the nausea, as well with the light-headedness, seem to be the worst."

"I was hesitant to start this pill Lo Loestrin Fe because I had never taken any before and read many negative reviews online. However, I have been on the pill for a month and have had a pretty good experience so far. The only side effects I’ve had have been some spotting and occasional mood swings (but rare! And nothing unmanageable). Best of luck to everyone thinking about trying it and a reminder that everyone’s experience is unique!"

"Best birth control I've been on. It's the only one that hasn't caused migraines for me. I have light spotting or no period at all each month. My mood has greatly improved. No weight gain. No acne. Only drawback has been decreased sex drive, but not enough to make a huge difference. Highly recommend this pill."

"Lo Loestrin = Acne cysts! I have always had clear skin (with the occasional breakout, but nothing serious), and since switching to this pill about 12 months ago, I've had a never-ending cycle of painful and ugly red blemishes. My dermatologist assessed my skin, and after two minutes with me, determined that I had Lo Loestrin skin. She said it is absolutely the worst for skin because of its significantly lower estrogen levels. Anyway, I just wanted to share this knowledge. I'm switching back to Yasmin."

"Lolo is the first birth control that's been right for me. I tried Seasonale and Marvelon and spotted nonstop, gained 10 lbs in a year, and experienced acne, which I'm lucky to rarely have. Lolo cleared my skin, I never spotted after taking it. I am very good at taking it at exactly the same time every day. My periods are 2-3 days and very light. This month, I didn't even have a period, this is normal with Lolo. I've taken the 10 lbs off, haven't had any breakouts or mood swings either. Lolo was recommended by my doctor as my periods were heavy, long, and painful. Not anymore. Highly recommended to anyone else with those issues."

"After a long time of being off birth control, I decided it was time to go back on in an effort to help my Endometriosis which had become 20 times worse since having my baby. I was drawn to Lo Lo due to it being an ultra low dose pill with the lowest estrogen on the market. I only made it a month before I had to stop. It made me exhausted all day long even when I switched to taking at night to try and counteract that. It gave me weird leg cramps but worse than that, it also gave me horrible anxiety and panic attacks. I went from never struggling with panic attacks to calling an ambulance on myself in the grocery store because I literally couldn’t breathe. It was embarrassing and awful. I had to stop that day. As soon as I did, no more panic attacks. Everyone is different and everyone will react to differently to this pill. It just didn’t work for me. Currently trialing another pill with a different progestin in it"

"My OBGYN gave two months of samples. She suggested this due to pre-menopause symptoms, heavy monthly bleeding, no sex drive, weight gain, and no energy. I've only been taking it for four days and take the pill at night. I seem to be doing very well. I have energy and sex drive. No real side effects. I did today have a pimple on my face. I'll be turning 44 in July. I so far would recommend this birth control pill."

"I like to read reviews on any medication I am thinking about taking before I commit. I was horrified by some of the reviews I read for this medication. I was on several other birth control pills before trying this one and never found one that suited me. My doctor recommended that I try Lo Loestrin Fe, and I am so glad that she did. I love this pill. I never have my period, which I LOVE! It freaked me out the first few months, but once I got used to not having a period, I absolutely love it. I have been on it for 2 years, my husband and I never use any other protection or pull out, and I have never had any pregnancy scares. I never had any of the side effects that I read in the other reviews. Obviously, everyone reacts differently, but I love it."

"For a little over a year, I have been on Lo Loestrin Fe. It's great, after the first month, no more cyst symptoms. My period, which has been heavy (super tampon had to be changed every 2 hours or flooding would occur), is now down to extreme light spotting on the last 2 pills only. It's great, I love it. No more tampons or the resulting cramping. I do not have any period symptoms at all now, except a hair-trigger temper on the last 2 pills (which coincides with my weekend, so I let my family know not to bother me). After a year, this has calmed down, though, to where it's almost not noticeable anymore. There are so many pros to this medicine that having a bad temper for 2 days a month is definitely worth it. But it is expensive."

"Most of the negative reviews on this pill didn't give it enough time to get used to. You have to remember that you're causing a disruption in your bodies hormonal cycle, and that's going to cause slight discomfort on any pill. ALSO birth control pills are different for everyone. Bad reviews doesn't mean that this pill won't be a perfect match for you. The first three months of this birth control were a little rough, mood swings and heavy periods. BUT by the fourth month I stopped having periods altogether. I now haven't had a period for almost a year and experience no complications. My sex drive is normal , and I have gained no weight."

"I am in my last week of the 2nd pack. 1st my period this month was only 3 days which was awesome. I've never had a 3 day period before, EVER! However, the next week I had break through bleeding for 11 straight days. The cramping was bad and I had acne like crazy. I was supposed to have gotten my period yesterday and it hasn't came yet and I am never late. I know I'm not pregnant because I couldn't have any sex since I was bleeding nearly the whole month. I know I have to wait another month for everything to get normal. So lets just hope and pray for better results 3rd pack. Will update soon."

"After 3 different birth control pills my OB decided to put me on low estrogen so I got Lo Lo. I had gained about 20 pounds off of past birth controls - not directly from the pill they just made me hungrier - but being on this pill I've lost about 15 pounds of it. I’m less lethargic on this pill and my sex drive has remained fine. The only negative is that if I miss a pill even just for an hour or two and take it the next morning I bleed. But then I don’t get my period on my “period week”, very strange but it doesn’t cause too many problems because it’s extremely light when it does come. A little bit of breakouts here and there but this is by far the best birth control I’ve been on, I feel more like myself on it."

"This is my first month of using this birth control I haven't had a period yet. I'm broke out in bad acne having mood swings and depression, which I don't like. I stay angry at everybody. I'm on my last week of the pill I'll never take this pill again."

"I've been on this pill over 2 years now, and I love it. This summer and last summer I had some random cystic acne though I am not sure it is related to the pill because other times my skin is perfectly clear. No weight change. Only problem is I haven't had a period in the 2 years I've taken this, not even spotting. My doctor says not to worry about it but I am considering switching because of it."

"I started Lo Lo a month after a partial hysterectomy and cystectomy only to prevent more tumors. The first three months I had several side effects such as loss of appetite, acne, mood swings, and irregular bleeding. By my sixth months my body adjusted well except I would get my period around the time I should be ovulating or the 2nd week of the pack for around 5 days. I stopped taking Lo Lo because of the irregular bleeding and because it did not help me prevent tumors. I have an 8cm mass in my ovary. So I will give Taytulla a chance. Praying all goes well. As with any medication, you have to allow time for your body to adjust. Be strong!"

"I started this birth control 5 months ago after Demulen was discontinued, which I was on for about 4 years and loved. I have not had a period since I started taking Lolo. I would prefer to have a period for 3 days just for the reassurance but I'm not complaining too much. I have experienced no weight gain, no mood swings, but maybe a slightly lower libido. Overall I think it is pretty good!"

"This pill is HORRIBLE!!! I had been on a birth control for about 2 years before it that eventually gave me hyperpigmentation so I switched time a lighter hormone. I have been taking LoLo for 3 months (going on my 4th) and I have not got my period yet (I’m not pregnant) I still break out during the time I would get my period. This month I had breakthrough bleeding but it lasted one day. I am now working on switching pills, this was not the one for me and only made me feel like I had gained weighted and lowered my self esteem immensely."
