"Lolo is the first birth control that's been right for me. I tried Seasonale and Marvelon and spotted nonstop, gained 10 lbs in a year, and experienced acne, which I'm lucky to rarely have. Lolo cleared my skin, I never spotted after taking it. I am very good at taking it at exactly the same time every day. My periods are 2-3 days and very light. This month, I didn't even have a period, this is normal with Lolo. I've taken the 10 lbs off, haven't had any breakouts or mood swings either. Lolo was recommended by my doctor as my periods were heavy, long, and painful. Not anymore. Highly recommended to anyone else with those issues."

"I’ve been taking this for 2.5 months now and I’m absolutely loving it. I’ve had no negative side effects. I take it continuously so I never have a withdrawal bleed or any shifts in hormone levels from taking the iron/placebo pills. My mood has improved so much since not having a menstrual cycle and no PMS. No weight gain or appetite changes (if anything I have fewer cravings due to no PMS), my hormonal acne (which was out of control prior) has completely cleared, and I am loving life without a period. I’ve never been so happy with a medication and plan to take this for as long as I can. I will note that the initial first 10-14 days were rocky with breakthrough bleeding and moodiness, but I’m so happy I stuck it out. I haven’t had any breakthrough bleeding since then. I also take my pill every night at the same time by alarm and I believe this helps. Will update my review if anything changes."

"Best birth control I've been on. It's the only one that hasn't caused migraines for me. I have light spotting or no period at all each month. My mood has greatly improved. No weight gain. No acne. Only drawback has been decreased sex drive, but not enough to make a huge difference. Highly recommend this pill."

"I was hesitant to start this pill, Lo Loestrin Fe, because I had never taken any before and read many negative reviews online. However, I have been on the pill for a month and have had a pretty good experience so far. The only side effects I’ve had have been some spotting and occasional mood swings (but rare! And nothing unmanageable). Best of luck to everyone thinking about trying it and a reminder that everyone’s experience is unique!"

"I was on Trinessa Lo for a year, which was not the worst until it was discontinued and I was switched to Tri Lo Sprintec. The two should not even be compared. Tri Lo Sprintec turned me into a monster. I was on it for about 6 months before my boyfriend realized something changed about me. It made me so angry and destroyed my libido completely. It also made me constantly hungry, and I gained around 15 pounds on it. My doctor suggested I try Lo Loestrin Fe. I have taken it for about 4 days and feel like a changed person. I finally feel like myself again. My libido feels like it’s coming back, and I am no longer overeating or moody. The first day, I had some stomach pain, but after that, it has been pretty smooth. The negative reviews freaked me out. I would give it a try if I were you. Everybody’s body reacts differently."

"I switched to this pill after using Sprintec for years and had instant weight gain. I gained 20 pounds in the first three months. No noticeable changes in mood, sex drive, or acne. My skin stayed very clear. I also stopped having a period completely, and although it was wonderful, I could not get used to it. The pregnancy panics, along with the weight gain, forced me to stop taking these pills."

"This is my first time taking birth control pills. I am on my second pack, and I have not had my period since I started. I have bad cramping and bloating to the point where it feels like my period wants to come on but won't. I have very bad mood swings, which is affecting my relationship, breast tenderness. I take a pregnancy test every month because I have pregnancy symptoms. My sex drive is really low, but the pill works very well preventing pregnancy. I never really had an acne problem until I started taking these pills. I have not gained any weight, but I have not lost any either, and I work out a lot. I will be going to my doctor to talk about changing to something else."

"I only had a period every 6 months, if at all, on Lo Loestrin Fe. I had acne, some weight gain, and my vag was dry all the time, 0 sex drive, and it wasn't normal. I took it from 16 to 18 y/o. Would rate it more than 1 for no pregnancy, but I never had sex on it. I am now in my 20s and take Femynor, and I love it so much, no issues."

"I like to read reviews on any medication I am thinking about taking before I commit. I was horrified by some of the reviews I read for this medication. I was on several other birth control pills before trying this one and never found one that suited me. My doctor recommended that I try Lo Loestrin Fe, and I am so glad that she did. I love this pill. I never have my period, which I LOVE! It freaked me out the first few months, but once I got used to not having a period, I absolutely love it. I have been on it for 2 years, my husband and I never use any other protection or pull out, and I have never had any pregnancy scares. I never had any of the side effects that I read in the other reviews. Obviously, everyone reacts differently, but I love it."

"I was prescribed Lo Loestrin Fe for my debilitating cramps and anemia. I was on another hormone treatment a few years back but stopped taking it due to low finances. On a regular check-up, my doctor suggested trying birth control pills again even though it is not pregnancy prevention I am seeking. I agreed since I am unmarried and do not intend on having children in the next few years. Now I am on my third month of using Lo Loestrin, and I am liking it so far. My cramps have slowly become minimal, my bleeding is no longer insanely heavy, my last period lasted 4 days instead of 7, and best of all, I do not feel severely ill due to my anemia."

"After a long time of being off birth control, I decided it was time to go back on in an effort to help my endometriosis, which had become 20 times worse since having my baby. I was drawn to Lo Lo due to it being an ultra-low dose pill with the lowest estrogen on the market. I only made it a month before I had to stop. It made me exhausted all day long, even when I switched to taking it at night to try and counteract that. It gave me weird leg cramps, but worse than that, it also gave me horrible anxiety and panic attacks. I went from never struggling with panic attacks to calling an ambulance on myself in the grocery store because I literally couldn’t breathe. It was embarrassing and awful. I had to stop that day. As soon as I did, no more panic attacks. Everyone is different, and everyone will react differently to this pill. It just didn’t work for me. Currently trialing another pill with a different progestin in it."

"I'm on my 9th month; just about 40 years old, given to me for severe cramps and horrible bleeding that has worsened over the past 2 years. My daughter is 15 and just started her first pack about 3 weeks ago. She has been sick more days than I can count, not sleeping well, lost 10 pounds, gets lightheaded often, nausea usually in the evening, as well as moody. She's had the breakthrough bleeding just like I did. What I noticed is when we talked is we've both been suffering from the lightheaded feelings quite often at any given time and any place. We both tend to feel tired at the end of most days; headaches and the nausea, as well with the light-headedness, seem to be the worst."

"For a little over a year, I have been on Lo Loestrin Fe. It's great, after the first month, no more cyst symptoms. My period, which has been heavy (super tampon had to be changed every 2 hours or flooding would occur), is now down to extreme light spotting on the last 2 pills only. It's great, I love it. No more tampons or the resulting cramping. I do not have any period symptoms at all now, except a hair-trigger temper on the last 2 pills (which coincides with my weekend, so I let my family know not to bother me). After a year, this has calmed down, though, to where it's almost not noticeable anymore. There are so many pros to this medicine that having a bad temper for 2 days a month is definitely worth it. But it is expensive."

"Please stay away from this birth control. I literally have never written a review for anything in 19 years of my life, but I needed to warn everyone researching birth controls to steer clear of this medication, especially if you are acne-prone. I am on my second course of Accutane because of this awful drug. It absolutely ruined my skin and gave me the worst cystic, hormonal acne, which I have never had in my life. It also gave me the most irregular periods that would last for weeks on and off and made me so sad, tired, and unmotivated all the time. My cramps and mood were affected in the worst way possible, the only minor plus of this is that I didn't gain any weight. I wish I never gave this birth control a try, and I really tried to push through and see if my body would get used to it, but after 5 months, it wasn't really worth it. Please don't let this medication do its damage to your body like it did to mine and many others. It's the worst."

"I've been on this pill for around 11 months, and for the most part, I find it good. I started off using it just to regulate my period, not knowing that it would just go away after the first few months. I'm sexually active, and I find that it does decrease my sex drive. It was very frightening when I stopped having my period, and I did gain weight, but I take pregnancy tests periodically (just as a precaution). I still have period symptoms at the end of the pack, but I haven't had one in 7 months. The worst thing I find about this pack is that it makes me more emotional and increases my headaches."

"My OBGYN gave two months of samples. She suggested this due to pre-menopause symptoms, heavy monthly bleeding, no sex drive, weight gain, and no energy. I've only been taking it for four days and take the pill at night. I seem to be doing very well. I have energy and sex drive. No real side effects. I did today have a pimple on my face. I'll be turning 44 in July. I so far would recommend this birth control pill."

"I started this birth control 5 months ago after Demulen was discontinued, which I was on for about 4 years and loved. I have not had a period since I started taking Lolo. I would prefer to have a period for 3 days just for the reassurance, but I'm not complaining too much. I have experienced no weight gain, no mood swings, but maybe a slightly lower libido. Overall, I think it is pretty good!"

"Most of the negative reviews on this pill didn't give it enough time to get used to. You have to remember that you're causing a disruption in your body's hormonal cycle, and that's going to cause slight discomfort on any pill. Also, birth control pills are different for everyone. Bad reviews don't mean that this pill won't be a perfect match for you. The first three months of this birth control were a little rough: mood swings and heavy periods. But by the fourth month, I stopped having periods altogether. I now haven't had a period for almost a year and experience no complications. My sex drive is normal, and I have gained no weight."

"This pill is awesome. I've taken it for about 2 and 1/2 years now. No side effects when I first started either. I haven't had a period since, but I'm okay with that. I highly recommend this pill to anyone looking for a low-dose birth control."

"This is my first birth control pill. I'm 24 and have been on Lo Loestrin Fe for a little over a year now. The only TERRIBLE side effect I've gotten from this pill is a horrible sweet tooth. When I first started taking it, I just wanted to eat chocolate, and I gained about 10 lbs. Other than that, sometimes I don't get a period, sometimes I do, and it's anything from a dot to light bleeding for 4 days. Varies month to month. I don't have any spotting between periods, my sex drive is in overload, so it doesn't dry you out or anything. I really love this pill, it just costs a lot with my insurance, but to me, it's worth it."

"I've been on this pill for over 2 years now, and I love it. This summer and last summer, I had some random cystic acne, though I am not sure it is related to the pill, because other times my skin is perfectly clear. No weight change. Only problem is I haven't had a period in the 2 years I've taken this, not even spotting. My doctor says not to worry about it, but I am considering switching because of it."

"I am 26 years old and very sexually active with my partner. My doctor started me on this pill because of breakthrough bleeding I was having in between periods. I only tried this pill for 2.5 months and did not like it. I had breakthrough bleeding more often than before, extreme fatigue at the start of the 3rd month. I experienced extreme fatigue, dizziness, and normal period-like symptoms: heavy bleeding, painful cramping, and bloating when I wasn't supposed to be having a period. Also, sometime during the 2nd pack of pills, I had a horrible acne outbreak that I couldn't figure out. It was very frustrating that I was having so many in-between periods when that was the reason I started taking the pill."

"After 3 different birth control pills, my OB decided to put me on low estrogen, so I got Lo Lo. I had gained about 20 pounds off of past birth controls - not directly from the pill, they just made me hungrier - but being on this pill, I've lost about 15 pounds of it. I’m less lethargic on this pill, and my sex drive has remained fine. The only negative is that if I miss a pill, even just for an hour or two, and take it the next morning, I bleed. But then I don’t get my period on my “period week.” Very strange, but it doesn’t cause too many problems because it’s extremely light when it does come. A little bit of breakouts here and there, but this is by far the best birth control I’ve been on, I feel more like myself on it."

"This is the first birth control I have been on, and after hearing all the birth control horror stories that friends/family had, I'm happy to say that my experience with this pill so far has been a good one! The first month or two I did experience some acne and occasional nausea, as well as going from a B to C cup (a welcome change). However, none of the symptoms have been any worse than symptoms of a period. My period lightened soon after beginning the pill packs, and I stopped getting my period altogether about 6 months after starting the pills, which (my Obgyn told me early on) was to be expected. My insurance also completely covers this pill, so that's definitely a plus!"

"At 40 years old, my period was heavy, and my iron was crashing. I had never taken birth control before because I already struggle with weight. After months of dealing with a heavy period, I decided it was time. I explained my weight gain and acne fears (yes, I break out easily) to her, and she told me that Lo Loestrin Fe would be the best for me. I’m on month four, and my skin is horrible. I’ve had to have laser treatments just to calm the inflammation down, and I started having debilitating anxiety. This stuff is poison. I am angry at the gynecologist for even prescribing it!"
