Vitamin D2 (ergocalciferol) "I've been taking D2 50000 iu once a week for 5 weeks. NP put me on it for osteoporosis. Side effects include fatigue, swollen lower legs, dry mouth, loss of appetite, severe drowsiness and irritability. I told her I would try it and so I did. However with all these side effect, I will not continue to take it."

Vitamin D2 (ergocalciferol) for Vitamin D Deficiency "HORRIBLE experience. Like other people, I found out I have a vitamin D deficiency and was told to take 15 mcg (600 IU) a day. I took my first pill without thinking of anything and within two hours I was having horrible anxiety, panic attacks, heart palpitations, and a high heart rate. The high heart rate triggered anxiety and panic attacks. I quickly drove myself to the hospital where they told me it was not related.. after realizing others have experienced it I’m not sure I fully trust medical providers at this point. I will not be taking that again and I hope these symptoms subside."

For Vitamin D Deficiency "I was prescribed this drug for a vitamin D deficiency (50,000IU/weekly). Four days after my first dose I developed a rash on my inner thigh. The rash spread to my other thigh, then my neck, then the rest of my legs, stomach, and arms. They were not hives, but still severely itchy. I saw my dermatologist who was convinced it was poison ivy so he prescribed a low-dose steroid pack (methylprednisolone) for 6 days and triamcinolone ointment, but with no improvement. A week later I saw an allergist who was unsure what it was, and went back to the dermatologist for a biopsy. I got the biopsy and a cortisone/steroid shot. 3rd week into the rash, I developed hives and a swollen throat. I have been taking hydroxyzine and doubled up on my daily OTC antihistamine and have had some improvement. The biopsy showed a drug reaction, and this drug is the only possibility. I'm sharing these details so anyone with a similar experience can learn from me and not go weeks without knowing how to help it!"

For Vitamin D Deficiency "I was prescribed 50000 iu of D2 once a week for 12 weeks. I was reluctant to take it since OTC Vitamin D3 in any form triggers migraines. Sure enough, one dose triggered chronic daily migraines lasting more than 6 weeks now. Since the half-life of Vitamin D in the bloodstream is 15 days, I expect it will likely be another 6 weeks of constant migraine before it is back down to 1000 IU."

For Vitamin D Deficiency "I had no side effects while taking this, it gave me energy and it did help me from getting as sick as easily as I used to. Sometimes at night, when I have a hard time sleeping because I have so much energy, I wonder if it is because of the pill, but I do eventually go to sleep."
