"I have had IBS-D for 20 years, but controlled with Imodium and Bentyl. Three years ago, it was uncontrollable. Could not leave the house. Stool cultures, colonoscopy, blood work, x-rays, and scans due to pain all negative. Imodium didn't work. Doctor termed it as unspecified colitis and IBS-D. Now taking Lomotil, hyoscyamine, Donnatal, and cholestyramine. This makes life bearable. Tried Xifaxin and it did nothing. Now got the 100 mg Viberzi 2x daily. Took one pill with food yesterday morning. Within 15 minutes, my legs turned to rubber, heart was racing, cold sweat, and difficulty breathing. The heart racing and breathing went away within half an hour, but the rubber legs lasted about five hours. Severe abdominal pain, gas, metal taste till last night. No more."

"For the last 20 years, I have had issues with IBS-D. I'd say I would have a 'normal' bowel movement 5% of the time, with about 1-2 occurrences of rushing to the bathroom per day, and the rest of the time just unpleasant bowel movements. My gastro prescribed 75 mg Viberzi, and it worked almost immediately. I'd say in the first week, I had two occurrences of diarrhea, and the rest of the time I was 'normal.' After a month, I have had diarrhea a total of 3 times and had some of my best bowel movements in the last 20 years. I've even eaten Taco Bell several times and not had to go. It is truly freeing to not feel nervous about whether I would make it home in time after eating dinner."

"Took one dose of Viberzi for the first time last night for IBS, and minutes later I had severe chest and back pain, dizzy, etc. I knew it must be the medicine - never had anything like that. I thought I was having a heart attack. Went to ER. They said I have pancreatitis. Yet they told me to continue the medicine - no way - it would kill me! I read afterwards that in FDA warnings, Viberzi is NOT recommended for people who have had their gallbladder removed."

"I've been having success for years controlling my symptoms with probiotics and a sugar-free, spice-free diet, but thought maybe with Viberzi I could eventually get back to eating anything I want again. You know, be 'normal'? Wrong! After just a few days of taking it, I had pain like I have never felt before in my life-shooting up my back and stomach, to the point that I was vomiting nonstop and shooting pangs of diarrhea (!!) Isn't that what this drug is supposed to cure? It was like the worst case of food poisoning, but with indescribable pain. I remember saying, 'I'll take IBS-D over this any day!' I am back on my probiotics and my sugar-free diet and finally recovered again. I'm glad that it works for some people, but not for me. Yikes."

"I've just started Viberzi with samples from my GI and have been very happy with results after just 4 doses. However, my balloon burst when I found that the cost will be $600 a month. I will finish the sample, but as of now, I plan to go back to my regimen of iBgard, Immodium AD, and Metamucil, all in low doses (depending on how bad the episode is). I can't afford $600 a month on SS. As miserable as I am, I'm used to the inconvenience and plan to go back on my former regimen. By the time Viberzi is affordable, I'll probably have left this life!"

"Found this new drug on the internet, had to beg my doctor to let me try it since he had never heard of it. With what I was seeing online, I thought this may be the drug to give me my life back. Nope, it didn't work for me, it actually made me feel like I had to go more. I didn't have any side effects other than that. I was on the 100 mg dose 2x a day. I have had IBS-D for over 30 years and have taken a lot of Imodium to control my symptoms, and maybe that had something to do with this drug not working for me. But it's great that they are trying to come up with new treatments, maybe the next one will work for me. I can only hope."

"Started Viberzi 75 mg 2x daily for IBS-D since I don't have a gallbladder. Was great for the first 4 days, and then diarrhea kicked in 1x daily. Early this morning, had severe abdominal pain with sweating and weakness. Pain was so bad I thought I was having a heart attack and almost called 911. Made myself vomit and felt better after that. MD said if it happens again, I will have to come off the Viberzi."

"I've been taking this medication for two months now. At first, I was taking the full dose, but I never had a BM, so I lowered it to 75 mg once a day. I haven't had an IBS-D attack since I've taken it. I still have my A flare-ups sometimes, but it's really been a lifesaver. The downside is that my BMs have now gone to every fourth day, and when I do go, it's in very small amounts, is painful, and I usually end up having to skip a few days of Viberzi to get it all out. The medicine definitely works. For me, it works too well. I'm going to do a follow-up with my doctor. I don't want to give up this medicine, but I don't think it's healthy to be constipated all the time, either."

"This medication has changed my life 100%! I have been getting chronic diarrhea for almost 30 years! I stopped working, traveling, and I was afraid of leaving my house. "26 yrs DX of IBS-D, collagenous colitis, Crohn's, total colectomy w/J-pouch. I have tried every Rx known, and nothing could stop the 20 BM's, incontinence, nausea, GI cramping, and rectal spasms (from surgery). I found Viberzi, read patient reviews, Allergan Pharm documentation. I was on 100 mg x2 daily. Similar symptoms the first few days, by the 3rd day, major decrease in stool frequency and gut motility. Then, towards my 29th day, it abruptly quit working. I became severely ill: nausea, vomiting, headache. GI had me stop taking Viberzi, vomiting and diarrhea in bed a week. GI did blood work and Lipase levels at 124, next week Creatinine 1.2 Lipase 200, still very ill & no answers, my headache off of it for 26 days. FDA fast-tracked this, be careful!"

"I've had IBS-D for over 25 years. I've had many embarrassing moments over the years, and the disease has limited my lifestyle most of the time. Imodium helps, but not always. I finally got to the point where I could not deal with this anymore. There are things I want to do that I can't because I've always got to be near a bathroom. I finally got a referral to a digestive health clinic to get this figured out. After many tests and conversations with the doctor, we settled on some diet changes and this new drug, Viberzi. I've only taken the drug for a few days, but I am already seeing great results. I hope they continue for a long time. I'm not having the urgency I had before, I'm down to one BM a day now and feeling much better."

"Started this medication today after being on Bentyl for years. Noticed within a few hours I was having side effects. Muscle pains, nausea, loss of appetite. Hopefully, these subside and this medicine works. My insurance covered most of the cost, so pricing wasn't too awful."

"I have suffered from IBS-D for 10 years. I used to be able to manage it by not eating triggers and occasional Imodium. The last six months, it had gotten so much worse. I couldn't eat without running to the bathroom within 15 minutes. Going out to eat was horrible. I barely could make it home. It started causing major anxiety because a few times I almost didn't make it. The spasms would last all day. I could hardly eat anything. I would have to take 7 to 10 Imodium if I was going to go out to keep the diarrhea away. I was living on it! After normal testing, the doctor put me on Viberzi. It has been a miracle drug. It has given me my life back!!!"

"It took about a month for it to kick in and work properly. I had to supplement with Imodium to get by. When I take it now, I take it with (2) Ficercon pills, that helps a lot. Stay on a schedule with it, don't miss doses. I keep it out on the counter so I don't forget. I take it first thing when I wake up, and again before dinner."

"I gave Viberzi a 5 because yes, it did work. My diarrhea did slow down, and on most days, it stopped completely. My cost with the copay card was only $30, so that’s not bad either. My side effects were really bad though. Increased need to urinate all day and night. I ended up with a bladder infection. I also had night sweats and severe abdominal pain and gas. I would say it’s worth it to try it. Not everyone has the same side effects."

"Viberzi was given to me for IBS, and I took 3 pills and ended up in the hospital for a week. I honestly thought this drug was going to kill me. I had severe pain in my chest and could not take in a full breath. The hospital doctors said my pancreas was swelled really bad and putting pressure on my lungs, and it was because I had used Viberzi."

"This medication has changed my life for the best! I’ve gone 3 years with the worst stomach pain, went to the doctor, cut out a lot of foods, and still nothing. Just as of last year, the symptoms got worse. I was throwing up, had diarrhea every day, blood in stools, so I finally went for an endoscopy and colonoscopy, and after, they prescribed me this. The pharmacist said it would take 48 hours to see an effect, and on the 1st and 2nd day, I had diarrhea. Then I didn’t have a bowel movement for 5 days and then had my first hard bowel. This medication didn’t give me any side effects, and I’m 24 years old, if that also helps."
