"I have chin hair, dark and coarse. I started doing laser and ended up having more hair on my face near the treated area. I visited a gynecologist who provided me with hormone therapy to control PCOS and asked me to go for laser. But I decided to end up waxing my face still, so depressed due to more hair than before. Now my dermatologist suggested elfora/elyn, now I'm using it. Let's see what this brings to me. Hoping for the best. Some hair has already shed out in 5 days."

Eflornithine topical "I've been using Vaniqa for about two weeks. I haven't seen a change yet. A few spots. I suffer very bad from hair on my chin, sideburns, and upper lip. I have polycystic ovaries, which cause the hair growth, and it's very coarse, grows every minute, so I have to shave nearly every day. I'm hoping it does work, and I've read some comments on here. I am very surprised to hear the amount that some of you are paying. Here in Dublin, in the medical card, it's only €2.00. I'm shocked that you all have to pay such ridiculous amounts compared to what I have to pay. I hope it works. Mine is Vaniqa eflornithine 11.5 cream and 60 gm."

Eflornithine topical "I just started using this less than a week ago, it is covered under my insurance. I hope it works for me. I've had unwanted chin hair growth for over 30 years, and it was hard for me."

Eflornithine topical "I've used it on and off, and I definitely see slowed hair growth. The only problem I have is that it slows growth, it doesn't remove. This results in hair coming out 'just a little bit,' i.e., very, very short hairs, which are not so much seen as felt. And they're very hard to remove because they're so short (and I only use Tweezerman!). It actually takes me longer to pluck the short, stunted growth hairs than the full-grown hairs. Oh, well. I'm hoping that once I do get them, they won't grow back, and I'll be on my way to a smooth chin!!"

Eflornithine topical "I've been using this product for about a month and a half, and I use it twice a day, but it has slowed down the hair growth only if I'm taking my prescription meds. Other than that, I haven't seen a change yet. I will keep using it until it's gone or my next doctor's appointment on 8/25/2017, but if it doesn't work like I hoped, I will just have to do laser hair removal."

Eflornithine topical "Having been using this on and off since I've bought it. I don't know if it's only me, but it has made my overall skin VERY dry. I'm not complaining since I have naturally oily skin. However, it is extremely tight-feeling and unusual. It also stings A LOT if you have removed hair on the day, i.e., threading. I haven't noticed a difference in the thickness of my hair or any decrease in growth. After reading such positive reviews, I do hope it works for myself and other women out there suffering! I really do wish this is the 'miracle' cream it has been labeled since it was super expensive here in the UK."

"After reading all the reviews, there are a good number of them that sound the same (mentioning it is pricey but worth it, and that it works right away), and I wonder if this is company reviews rather than women like me."

Eflornithine topical "Vaniqa worked great for a few years. Recently, there was a long period (months) when you couldn't get it. Now it's back, but it doesn't work as well. Very disappointed."

Eflornithine topical "Used Vaniqa for years. When it went off market, I found a few almost used-up tubes and added water to thin what was stuck in the tube to extend the treatment, which worked better than I thought. In January, I bought the newly released Vaniqa for the same high price as the original, only to find hair reappearing. I feel duped by the new release and hope the company will be forthright about their product and pricing going forward. The original was excellent. The new release, disappointing - and weaker than my diluted leftovers."

"I had been using this cream for several years, and it helped lengthen the time between hair removal. Then, it stopped working. I'm not sure if I built up a tolerance to it, but it was like I wasn't using it at all. So, I took a break for about 10 months and just started using it again. I'm hoping it will start working again. If not, I don't know what I'm going to do. :("

Eflornithine topical "I really wanted to write a great review for this, but I just cannot. I started this product 6 weeks ago, so I realized that it may still be too early. I do think that the growth rate has slowed down slightly (still shaving 3 times a day, though). It’s been so harsh on my skin that my neck looks even worse than before. I have bumps everywhere on my neck and chin that are so hard to cover up, and you can still see and feel stubble seconds after shaving. My self-esteem is practically gone, and I don’t know how much longer I can do this. I plan on starting electrolysis in a few weeks, so I will continue to use Vaniqa for now. I just wish I saw a better result, I was so hopeful."

"This medication used to work great, however, it went off the market for a while, and now that it’s back, I have found it to be much, much weaker. Very disappointed since it used to work great!"

Eflornithine topical "It has helped slow hair a little bit, which is the only reason I have given it any stars. I have to be honest, I am disappointed in this. It has caused hair to grow under my skin, and it is always visible. It also dried my skin out, and my chin and neck look worse than when I didn't use this. Less hair, but bumps, blotches, dark spots, and permanent stubble. Giving up on it after this tube."

Eflornithine topical "Not sure if it's working either, following directions for how much it is. I used to do electrolysis, which didn't do much either; she said not to pluck because it would reopen the now cauterized blood supply for the hair follicle; but I don't know if I should pluck for the cream to get to the follicle? I also have to apply it to my 'happy trail' and around my nipples; my doctor said it's okay to use there. I'm applying rubbing alcohol to clean it better?? Also, I apply it to my beard minus rubbing alcohol, so I have to be very sparing with it. I also tried for a rebate, not fair, not covered by insurance... coupon ideas anyone? Are there generics, and do they work?"

Eflornithine topical "Worked on facial hair, however, I also started to have heavy fallout from the hair on my head. It may have been coincidental, but it was enough to make me stop using the cream."

Eflornithine topical "I had been using Vaniqa for nearly four months. It does show obvious signs of hair reduction, but it darkens the area of use, leaving a mark, which is the reason I have stopped using it. I am now using other products to get rid of pigmentation, which has now ruined my skin. I have turned to IPL treatment. I have read it heals automatically after a while, but I can't wait for this I've started. Using a skin lightener to cover up the patch. I wouldn't advise anyone to use this product. It doesn't come with enough advice on how to treat burns or scars, so you end up wasting even more money."

Eflornithine topical "I have been using Vaniqa for over 6 years, and I was amazed at the results. It then went off the market due to a shortage with a chemical, and I was lost as my hair grew back and I had no idea as to what to do. I saw dermatologists, but they told me to wait and gave me treatments that did not work. When Vaniqa came back on the market and I purchased it again in January, this product has not been as effective as it was in the past. I use it twice a day as I did before. I still have the same coarse hair and I am not sure if the company has weakened the product or if my hair is not treatable. I will continue to use this product, but it is not as effective as it has been over 12 weeks, and every day I pluck the same area."

Eflornithine topical "I haven't used it yet (hope it will get rid of the demoralizing appearance of increasingly coarse and numerous white hairs scattered on upper lip and chin!) I'm writing before I try it. And BTW, I find it VERY annoying that I'm not eligible for the $70 rebate through the company because I'm on Medicare. Why?? I'm paying for it completely out of pocket! This is weird and completely unfair. There isn't even a # to call or email to send to them to complain."

Eflornithine topical "I've been told by my GP this cream is not licensed in the UK. I know it's available through online prescriptions by UK pharmacies. Why am I being lied to? I've tried their suggestion of being on Dianette, and I've seen no change in hair growth after being on it for a year. I am beginning to wonder if they are trying to dodge the option of prescribing this cream to me due to its price (£80.50)."

Eflornithine topical "I've been using this for about 3 months. I have not seen a reduction in hair. It really dried my skin out, making the hair look worse. It is really expensive at $100. I'm going to finish this bottle, then I am done. It was worth a shot."

Eflornithine topical "This cream is not for me! It burned my skin, and I have been dealing with really bad skin since, although I stopped using it as soon as I broke out. My face is completely covered with small pimples and blackheads for weeks. I can't believe I paid this much money for a cream, just to have my face get this bad. I'd rather have hair on my face, quite honestly."

Eflornithine topical "My whole life I had really nice skin. Then, in my late 30s, I started to get these patches of thick hairs on my chin and lip that would become ingrown and cause painful acne/folliculitis. My dermatologist suggested Vaniqa. I used it for 6 weeks. My skin became the worst it's ever been. The hairs became deeper ingrown, seemingly causing so much pain, and I didn't think the growth of the other hair was slowing down at all. I developed the most horrific cystic acne that, 18 months later, is still not healed. In the areas I used it, I developed scars where the pigmentation is completely gone, and I have deep indentations about 1/2 inch in diameter all over my face. If I ever want to look normal again, I'll need so much cosmetic surgery. The absolute only thing in my regime that was different was the Vaniqa, and after I stopped using it, the cystic acne slowed and then stopped."

Eflornithine topical "I have been using this for about 2 years now, and it seemed to work much better in the beginning. Still have problems with having to pluck the wild hairs on the upper lip and chin. However, the finer hair (fuzz) is much better."
