Reviews for Slynd

"Hi Ladies, I have taken Slynd for exactly one month as of yesterday. As for side effects occasionally I get headaches but nothing overbearing. I do feel nauseous at times; I think my body is still getting used to taking the pill. Reason I got on birth control was to regulate my periods. I have not taken birth control in over 5 years. I have not had any break through bleeding! Thank goodness, but I am a little concerned because I have not had my period. I take the pill every day at the same time faithfully. I did read certain tea’s and herbal supplements can decrease the effectiveness. Licorice tea is my favorite and I drink at least two cups a day. Also, I incorporate flaxseeds into my diet sometimes I will take melatonin before bed. I really hope it doesn’t effect anything! Has anyone else heard about this? I plan on giving a complete review after the 3rd month. This will give my body time to adjust."

"Started taking this pill 4 months ago, very active person, healthy eater, went to go out on a pair of my jeans that fit a few weeks before and I could not button them. The weight gain partially in my lower half (first time in my life) is piling on so rapidly with no lifestyle change I can hardly believe it. Haven’t had a period since starting it but my goodness I blew out my fat pants. Will be stopping immediately, suffice to say this will be a plump girl summer.."

"Avoid this birth control at all costs. I took it for two months and experienced weight gain, headaches, and significant hair loss. My mood swings were severe and my sex drive disappeared completely. My period became irregular, and after taking this birth control, it stopped altogether."

"I have been on slynd for almost a year now and I love it. Unfortunately, I have to move to a new BC because my insurance doesn’t cover it. At first I never got a period but after 3 months your body gets used to the pill. My period would be spotting super light for about 3 days. At first I had mood swings and loss of sex drive. Once your body gets used to it, it’s rlly a great pill."

"I will never take this again.I started 2 yesterday and my mood has been horrible. I have been snapping at everyone, being rude and screaming like a banshee since I started taking this pill and having bouts of crying after snapping at everyone in the house over the most silly tiny little things when I am usually calm, I have been having intrusive thoughts and nightmares that have basically scarred me and my anxiety and depression have just gone downhill and I have 0 motivation to do anything and just sit on the couch all day. My experience was horrible and I can't wait for the side effects to go away. I would rather be anaemic and bleed heavily than be like this.."

"2 years on slynd. Pros: -clear skin, less oily, -less swelling in my face and body (I retain less water and look slimmer as a result!) -I lose weight easier and can exercise more consistently without hormones affecting my uni xc training. - sleep better. - mood stable Cons: - low sex drive. When I get turned on occasionally, I'm not able to self-lubricate. - I have curly hair. Slynd caused my curls to loosen. Now they're big curls rather than tight curls. I wasn't sure for a bit if this was really the cause, so I stopped taking Slynd. Once I did, the new growth (3 months of growth to see 1.5 inches of new hair) was so much curlier again!. I'm not mad about this side effect personally, but some curly girls may not want this! - Sometimes the stable mood turns into a flat mood, way too stable. Sometimes I become depressed because nothing makes me very excited anymore. However, I still prefer this over the intense mood swings I used to get without slynd."

"Got prescribed Slynd after a D&C for uterine polyps that would cause very heavy bleeding. I started taking them that same day. Had spotting on and off all month with a very light period that lasted 2 days. Finally a very light period after years suffering from heavy bleeding. I'm on my second pack on my second week and I have had no spotting. So far a I'm loving it, I have no side effects with it."

"I started the first pack of Slynd during my period and I had spotting after 2 weeks of the pack for about a week and then I got my period with the placebo pills, as expected for about 4 days. During my second pack I had about 4 days of spotting and some bleeding but then I skipped my period at the end of the 2nd pack (during the placebos) and then on the 3rd pack I didnt have any spotting or breakthrough bleeding until 2 days before the placebos of that pack. So I was clean for about 5 weeks straight, which was exciting. But now I am on my 4th pack and I had heavy breakthrough bleeding only a week after my period ended and I am still waiting for the spotting to stop a week later. The nurse at my gyno practice said it could take up to 6 months for my body to get used to the pill. It has been pretty concerning given that naturally my period cycle was very consistent and regular. I haven't had any other side effects from Slynd other than the irregular bleeding/spotting."

"I was prescribed Slynd after my doctor found my BP high during an office visit, and my readings at home were high also. I was on Yaz for several years before Slynd. I had withdrawal bleeding on Yaz during the inactive pills. When my doctor switched me to Slynd, I was dreading the breakthrough bleeding I knew I was probably going to have. My first month, I had no breakthrough bleeding and no period! I have now been on Slynd for 6 months and have experienced no breakthrough bleeding, and my periods have stopped! It has been wonderful for me! I am 42 and was a long-time user of combo birth control pills/ring since age 17 due to heavy periods. I always had a period on the combo pills, and some months, I still had very heavy periods while on the combo pills. Slynd has been an easy transition for me and has had an added bonus of having no bleeding. I do get some slight cramping during the 4 days of inactive pills but no bleeding or spotting at all!"

"I was switched to Slynd after taking Sprintec for 3 years due to high blood pressure. I unfortunately had a bad experience taking Slynd. It gave me the worst cystic acne (my skin was clear before). I had a lot of spotting during the first pack and horrible cramps. My period was very light but the cramps were so bad during it I contemplated going to the hospital. The second pack I also experienced horrible cramping that would wake me up at night but my period never came and still has not. I’ve gained 20 pounds since starting Slynd without changing any of my normal daily habits. On top of all this, my insurance refuses to cover it and it is very expensive ($250 a pack)."

"I've been on Slynd since January of this year. I have my period frequently during the month and and at times up to 15 days. It will go away for a few days and come back. It is annoying and concerning. My cycle came from 9/26 - 10/5, 10/12-10/16, and it started again today, 10/24! My first time taking progesterone only pills."

"I started taking Slynd to help with my heavy periods. I have 3 small fibroids, and I hoped this would lighten my flow until I could figure out my surgical options. I started taking it on the first day of my period, and the first thing that happened was bloating that was so intense I could barely put on pants. I had the WORST period of my life. The cramps were debilitating. After about 10 days of pain and cramping, things slowed to just some spotting, but after a week of that, my period came back HEAVIER AND MORE PAINFUL than I’ve ever experienced in my life. I was literally filling up an overnight pad every 45 min. I stopped taking the pill after 18 days of starting because the side effects were unbearable. I’m 5 days off if it, and my body is slowly returning to normal. Don’t make the mistake I made by ignoring the low approval rating for this medication. The side effects are horrific."

"I have been on Slynd for a few months now and I LOVE it! I have endometriosis and would have terrible periods prior to taking this. After my third baby my gyn suggested a birth control and put me on Slynd. I had a period the first month, but haven’t had one since. I get very mild cramping around when I should get my period and that’s it. This has done wonders for me."

"I’m on my second pack of Slynd and it was a big change for me. From switching my old birth control Taytulla to Slynd was the best decision I made. I was depressed, had bad migraines, gained excess weight on taytulla but when my doctor recommended me Slynd I didn’t think it would be much of a change but it worked!! Mind you I’m now 11 months post partum and sometimes after birth it may take a while for your body to get back normal or for you to learn yourself body again so switching to Slynd made my journey easier.. I do not take the placebo pills as I realized they may or may not give you your period. If you want to completely stop your period on any birth control do not take the placebo pills and start your next pack right away. It’s worked for me I love Slynd. So far so good"

"Right after starting slynd I noticed I felt off. My blood pressure went up, and I was very moody. It did help with my heavy bleeding after being on it for a while, but I continued to have a light period about every 2 weeks despite only taking the placebo every 3 months. I got very painful acne, awful headaches that didn't respond to anything, weight gain and bloating, I lost a depressing amount of hair, and I had no energy. I gave it over a year and it never improved. Finally gave up. I've been off slynd for 2 weeks now, my energy is back, my acne is clearing, and I'm down 5lbs."

"This is only my first month on the pill but so far I haven't felt much. I take it in the morning and sleep very well at night (maybe better than normal) but I feel a little bit overheated in bed. I don't feel nauseated but I have a total loss of appetite. I already lost lbs to where people are noticing and my clothes are loose. I'm not coming from another BC--haven't been on one for years and years. I was expecting headaches, zits, hell but honestly, I don't feel anything. I think I'm calmer. I'm so curious if this will fix my PMDD because it supposedly stops ovulation. I shall be back to report!"

"I’ve been on this birth control Slynd since the beginning of the year. It started out great. Very light periods, little to no cramping. I had breakthrough bleeding a couple times, but I figured my body was just adjusting. It’s now October, and I feel so awful. I have been breakthrough bleeding for a week and a half on and off with a wide range of heaviness and clots. My cramps are getting worse and worse, and I feel like there’s no end in sight. I thought something was wrong with my body, but after reading these reviews, I can confidently say that it is from Slynd. This is the first progestin-only pill I’ve been on, as I am usually on a combined pill. I didn’t do any research before starting this pill; my doctor suggested it, and I decided to try it. I know every body is different, but in the past couple months, I have had nothing but painful periods, cramping, and breakthrough bleeding. I’m not pregnant, though, so I guess it’s been working."

"Terrible experience. I started this birth control in February, the doctor warned me that I’d have irregular bleeding for the first few months and that’s normal ( my body adjusting to the pills) but it is now AUGUST and I’m still having irregular bleeding. Since beginning it’s been a pattern of bleeding times and short times of me actually off my cycle. Isn’t it supposed to be the other way around? That’s 2 weeks of me bleeding and just about 2 or 3 days off me not bleeding. I’ve wasted so much money on pads and tampons. I’ve ruined so many panties. Don’t even get me started on my sex life. DO NOT TAKE THIS. You’ll definitely regret it."

"Do not recommend it. I was recommended this drug by my GP against my usual birth control after having a baby and it has caused me a racing heart rate of 198 beats per minute, nausea, numbness, and pain in my right leg. It resulted in me being taken to the emergency department by paramedics where I received a defibrillator shock to my chest. I am now in a stable condition but as a result of this, I now need to take medication to regulate my heart and blood thinners to prevent a clot. Please hear my warning. Do not use this!!!"

"Absolutely awful. This is the first time I've taken Slynd and it has given me nothing but problems. I have cramps everyday. My headaches were the reason I had to change my meds and they have gotten much worse. I'm so bloated and feeling icky. Not to mention, my irritability has never been this bad. It doesn't help that I've been bleeding EVERY DAY since I've started this. 0/10. Would never recommend to anyone for anything. I wish I had never started taking these meds."

"I stopped birth control for 5 years. We are trying to have another child, but so far no luck. My periods started getting very heavy with lots of clots. So my doctor scheduled a procedure to look and biopsy my womb next month. I can’t get a period until then so it started with a combination pill and my blood pressure kept going higher and higher. So he put me on this, my biggest thing is emotions! I’m going crazy on this pill like I never have before. I told my doctor I’m never doing this again. So this might be good for some, it seems to not be making my blood pressure rise, but I cry at the drop of a hat or get very upset easily. I have no had this much emotion in a long time. Can’t wait to stop it!"

"I started Slynd because I was suffering from severe PPMD on my previous combination birth control Kariva. I was using Kariva birth control for almost 10 years and didn't realize the extremely negative side effects that I had been dealing with. I switched from the combination pill to Slynd to regulate/balance my hormones and I can say that I feel 95% better. The first week was very difficult since my hormones were very imbalanced. However, give it 3 months and you'll feel much better. I no longer suffer from intrusive thoughts, feelings of anger, etc. I no longer get my period on Slynd, which was an adjustment for me and I have very mild symptoms of PMS which I believe has to do with being estrogen free. I did not gain weight, and I was initially worried I would breaking out but I did not. After a few months I've had one month of mild spotting but nothing to worry about."

"First of all I really hoped that this would work for me but it didn't. I was taking this to suppress my endometriosis. I am 35 and this is the first BC I have been on. My first three weeks were fine, and I was optimistic because of no cramping and no endo pain. Then came my second packet. I started to have breakthrough bleeding. More than just spotting. I am severely anemic due to having endo for so many years. Needless to say I started feeling absolutely awful due to the constant bleeding. I had to quit my job because I could no longer handle the long commute due to weakness from bleeding so much. Luckily I found a job closer to home. I actually stuck it out with Slynd for 6 months to give it a fair chance. The final straw came when I started noticing that I was feeling incredibly down about weight gain and the never ending bleeding. I was breaking down everyday. I should have stopped taking it after month 3 instead of month 6. I put myself through too much giving this a chance."

"If you are a young girl and do not have headaches or blood clotting disorders, DO NOT TAKE THIS PILL!! Even if you do have headaches, just get the combination pill and take an Advil. This pill consumed my life for six months. I had my period EVERY WEEK! My hormones were all out of whack since I was only getting progestin, so this caused me to become extremely depressed. When I told my primary care doctor about what my gynecologist prescribed me, she was baffled because this pill was made for women 35 or older! She put me on a combination pill and it’s currently working it’s magic to keep me protected (which the other pill was not as protective as this one for a girl my age) and it’s in the process of regulating my periods, which I still get irregularly for the time being."
