For Birth Control "I've been taking Yaz for 4 months now, I'm 16 years old. Few complaints: at the beginning, this pill caused me horrible nausea and breast pain, but that could be due to changing to Yasmin from Microgynon 30. Also, I experienced spells of depressive moods, which have now cleared up, but I often experience mood swings! On a positive note, my skin has cleared up massively and I have maintained, if not lost, weight. Great pill."

For Acne "I started Yasmin about 3 months ago now, and seriously had so many side effects. Not only did it make my skin worse, but I constantly felt bloated, was depressed, and I'm usually quite energetic, but it made me really sleepy constantly. I'm in my last year of my degree, so it really was not helpful at all! Luckily, I found sense to leave the pill, and already I feel better. I'm not bloated anymore and generally less tired! I am still in search of something to cure my acne, though."

For Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder "I took this medication, Yasmin, in order to regularize my periods and avoid PMS symptoms of mood swings. However, this pill worsened my situation. I have been suffering from immense depression and anxiety ever since. Anxiety with fast heartbeats. I've been possessive, and anything around me would trigger emotional outbursts of crying and anger. I have cried every single day I took this pill. If you've got pre-existing anxiety or depression, I would advise you don't take this pill. It will literally ruin your life. I have got 4 days left for the pill. Never taking it again after that."

For Birth Control "Yasmin was the worst decision of my life to take this. I went on it for birth control, and the doctor thought it would help my endometriosis as well. At first, I was happy-my skin was clear and glowing, and I even lost some weight. However, after a few months, I started experiencing crippling anxiety and depression. After three months of this, I stopped the medication, but the aftermath got worse. I became so anxious and depressed I felt suicidal. Thankfully, I started seeing a naturopath who helped me restore my body to its pre-Yasmin state, and after 9 months off the pill, I started feeling like my old self. I do not recommend this!!"

For Acne "Gosh. Don't get on this tablet. It's the worst thing that's ever happened to me. I almost feel suicidal, been in severe depression, shouting and breaking things, and ruining my relationship with everyone. If this is the cost you have to pay to clear skin, then I'd rather have pimples for the rest of my life. And, to be honest, it hasn't even helped my acne, in fact, it made it worse. Don't, please. If you want to remain sane, don't get on this. Go natural or anything, but not this."

For Birth Control "Yasmin birth control seriously made me so depressed. I had no motivation to do anything. The few months that I took this were my absolute darkest days, and when I stopped taking it, it was the best decision I’ve ever made."

For Birth Control "So I started Yasmin on December 29, 2016, and began taking it regularly at 7:30 PM to avoid unwanted nausea that's often reported by women who take it early in the morning. The first week was fine, the second week made me awfully depressed, but I noticed clearer skin, and the third week brought along frequent urination, which frightened me because that's a symptom of pregnancy. But then with some online research, I found out that Yasmin definitely has a diuretic side effect that causes frequent urination. Instead of retaining the water (which causes bloating), frequent urination assisted in preventing bloating. In the third week, I had withdrawal bleeding 3 days into the inactive pills, which lasts about 5 days."

For Birth Control "*Disclaimer* this may not be the pill causing me to feel like this, however, it’s very convenient timing. I started the Yasmin pill 2 weeks ago, and I have already had to stop it. About a week in, I started experiencing insanely low mood. I was angry, depressed, and questioning everything about myself. I do already suffer with anxiety, however, it seemed to worsen significantly. I would wake up every two hours at night. I just all around felt awful. I could not stop overthinking, and I felt as though I was going crazy. Seeing the negative reviews on here is both scary and relieving, as a lot of people seem to have felt the same. I would not recommend, from my point of view, however, everyone is different. I have only had two days off, so I have not yet given myself enough time to see if my mood improves."

For Birth Control "I wanted to use this for both birth control and acne. And it helped both. But this is a terrible and horrible pill that caused me to become a different person. Depression every day and sadness occurred from August 2022 till the midweek of February 2023. I became an angry person and always hurt my spouse with words that I didn't really mean to say. I didn't even recognize myself anymore. Plus, it caused my hair to shed a lot. I wish I had never taken this pill. I came off not too long ago in February, and my spouse was begging me to stop taking it way before, but I never listened. After a few days, I became myself again. Happy-go-lucky, always positive, and I am so happy I stopped. It really changed my life those past few months taking it, and I regret it so much, and I never want to be that angry or depressed person ever again. So please, take caution with this pill. It will change you mentally and emotionally."

For Birth Control "I have been on Yasmin for 11 and a half years. At first, I didn't have any problems. But over the last few years, I have noticed terrible things happening each month. First, it was spotting, breast tenderness, mood swings, sadness, headaches, irritability, you know, the small little things. But more severely, I have heart palpitations, dizziness, and now high blood pressure."

For Birth Control "I didn't think there was a problem, no immediate reactions, 2 years, and I'd put on 15 lb without changing my lifestyle. My (mild) acne seemed to improve, and it was great being in control of my periods. Then I became moody, emotional, combative, and depressed. Really depressed. I had migraines, at least 3 attacks a month, I had hypertension. And because I had put on so much weight, I was trying to lose it, playing football 3 times a week and going to the gym 2 times a week, no big difference, and I ate less than my slim friends. I don't smoke. I had hypertension (185/135 being the highest reading). I stopped taking it, and now I feel better, lost 10kg, happier, blood pressure is normal. Now I have polycystic ovaries, I blame that pill."

For Birth Control "I was given Yasmin by my pharmacist because the pill I usually take was out of stock. The three weeks I was on it, I became incredibly depressed. I already have a history of mental illness and depression, but before recently had been doing well. Taking Yasmin affected my mental health incredibly. By the third week, my anxiety was at an all-time high, I was suffering horrible mood swings, I was crying on and off daily, and I was beginning to suffer suicidal thoughts. I stopped taking the pill a couple of days ago and already feel an improvement. I am never taking this again. The last three weeks have been awful. I am also disappointed in my pharmacist for not warning against this and just providing it as an alternative to the pill I was previously taking, which never resulted in these side effects. If you have a history of depression or mental illness, DO NOT TAKE THIS!!!!"

For Birth Control "I have tried many contraception (pills and implants) but was happy with Yasmin. Boobs grew and I felt good while taking the pill. I did have increased anxiety and depression on the 7-day break due to hormones, but I enjoyed taking this. I've had to stop due to migraines and migraines with aura."

For Birth Control "I’ve been using Yasmin for over a year now, and it’s cleared my skin and lightened my heavy periods, as that was the reason I had to go on it. But I cannot stop crying?!? Like I never would’ve been like that before, and now I never want to go anywhere or go out. I feel like I’ve pushed all my friends away. I just feel irritated that I’m so emotional and that I can’t do anything to help the situation, it’s so frustrating. Honestly, it’s a hit or miss for everyone, but there are more good days than bad days, which is a plus. I just feel a bit depressed and stressed out about every small thing and get worked up over nothing. But I don’t think I’d be able to stop taking it because it has done what it was supposed to as my periods have decreased a lot in cramps and duration. It would last a week, but with the pill, it lasts 4 days at the most!"

For Acne "Before taking Yasmin, I used to have very bad acne-a lot of bumps on my forehead and painful pimples. However, now after being on Yasmin for a few months, I have never had better skin. I haven’t had a single spot in months and am now a lot more comfortable wearing no makeup. The first day I felt very depressed, but after that was fine."

For Birth Control "I have been on a number of pills in the past (aged 28, started 18) - I have been diagnosed with endometriosis, so my reasoning for remaining on some sort of hormonal BC was vital to reduce the symptoms. I was placed on Yasmin after experiencing major mood swings/depression on Yaz. Yasmin seemed to reduce these mood swings considerably. Since Yasmin, my periods, although regular, have been light and cramping has been reduced/completely absent. Amazing! (5 years on it now). I have been getting migraines for the last 2 years, so I might have to change my BC again. One's body changes with age, I guess our meds need to, too."

For Birth Control "I was prescribed this pill when mine was unavailable and spent the few months I was on it completely depressed. I’d never suffered from mental health issues previously, but while on Yasmin I was consistently low and cried almost every day. I came off the pill and felt myself returning to my normal self in a few days. This pill ruined me for months."

For Birth Control "I was on Yasmin about 4 years ago and seemed to be doing okay. Then when I went to get my prescription, my doctor said Yasmin was too dangerous due to blood clots, etc., so I had to go on Rigvidon (UK contraceptive pill generic of Nordette or Levora 0.15/30). Rigvidon turned my life upside down for 18 months - horrendous anxiety for no reason, the start of depression, major brain fog, socially withdrawn, and crying nearly every day. I was pill-free for around 3 years after that awful experience. I decided to go back on Yasmin recently as the pill makes my spot-prone skin (at nearly 30) so clear, improves painful and heavy periods, and obviously as contraception. However, after just two months on it, I am absolutely exhausted, constant fatigue even though sleeping well, feeling lazy, down, distant, and not interested in anything, intense headaches the day before and of my period starting, and generally feeling like I could sleep 24/7 and don't want to work or speak to anyone. I will be coming off again now as it's just not worth it!"

For Birth Control "Please, please, please do NOT take this pill. I am normally a very upbeat, happy person. The past few months have been terrible. I was on the Yasmin pill, I had really low mood, low energy, not wanting to get dressed and go out, bad depression! I never even put it down to the pill at first. I was thinking, why do I feel like this? Then, 4 weeks ago, I thought to myself, it's gotta be the pill. I stopped the pill, got the non-hormone copper coil fitted, and have never felt better. I'm back to my normal self again. Writing on any site is not the sort of thing I would normally do, but I thought I had to share how dangerous it is the way it makes you feel."

For Birth Control "Before Yasmin, I was on the implant that contains only progesterone. This gave me terrible acne, so I decided to switch to Yasmin as it is renowned for clearing up skin. It worked straight away and has given me the clearest skin I've ever had in my life! People even said my skin looked 'translucent.' This reason alone made me continue taking it for over 3 years. Over the last year, I noticed that I was experiencing very severe premenstrual syndrome with symptoms of irrational anger and being teary and emotional most of the time. This progressed into terrible depression that I have never experienced before. The sadness and dark thoughts were unrelenting. I then switched to Cilique, and since switching, I feel much happier and have a clear head space. This is likely because Cilique has a higher level of estrogen. In summary, I would recommend taking this pill only for a year, 2 years maximum."

For Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder "I have been on Yaz for 2 months now to fix my newly discovered hormonal imbalance. I felt the effects of the pill after a week. I am far more emotional and am seriously depressed. Major mood swings. On a happier note, my periods are regular and last 4 days with little cramping and little to no bloating. Above all, I do not feel myself. Once my 3-month trial is done, I'm definitely going to explore my options and steer away from birth control. I do not feel myself anymore."

For Birth Control "I've been on Yasmin a year now, and honestly, if your doctor offers you this pill, say no. They don't tell you about the really bad mood swings you get, or the anger attacks, or the anxiety and depression, and even the nausea I get every day. I am now suffering from all of this because of Yasmin. I never knew how bad my anger was until my partner said about how bad it actually was. I've only just realized that my anger has been ridiculous over the past months. If any of you are experiencing these things, I'd suggest you stop taking Yasmin and go back to your doctors for another pill. It is dangerous."

For Birth Control "I only lasted on Yasmin for 2.5 weeks. I'm a 29-year-old mommy of 1 and haven't taken birth control in about two years. Without any birth control, my periods were very regular and my acne was moderate. I'm a fitness lover, so I'm very strict with exercise and nutrition, and I keep my weight in check at all times. My OB prescribed Yasmin to treat my ovulation and menstrual cramping and moderate PMS. This pill turned me into someone else entirely. Within the first two weeks, I had acne all over my chin and under my nose. I became extremely moody, weepy, depressed, anxious, paranoid, and jealous. The anxiety made my chest tight, and it was hard to take deep breaths at times. I kept telling my husband when we would go out in public that I felt like I was walking in some sort of 'dream world'-I wasn't really there. ...And the weight gain! I spend 5-6 days in the gym every week and eat very healthy-only splurging on small cheat meals on the weekends. In one week, I gained 4 pounds without changing anything, and my stomach stayed hard and bloated looking-it looked like I was pregnant! On top of all of that, my breasts were sore, and I had breakthrough bleeding starting on week 2. I'll take cramping and PMS any day over the side effects associated with this pill."

For Acne "Yasmin changed my life! For the past year or so, I started breaking out due to hormones (it only happened the week before my period) and getting horrible PMS. About 2-3 days before my period, I would get very irritable and grouchy, to the point where it affected my work and social life. I went to my doctor with these problems, and she recommended Yasmin. The first 6 weeks or so, it was horrible. I broke out even more, gained about 10-15 lbs, and that led to a slight depression. But people told me that is just what happens when your hormones adjust to new birth control? I'm really glad I stuck through because my acne is now completely gone and my PMS levels have decreased by at least 75%, feeling so much better!"
