"Absolutely horrendous - went from 55 kg to 68 kg and I’m only 5 ft 2 in a matter of 3 months. I feel terrible about myself and I can’t fit into any of my clothes, it’s ruined my summer. I’ve stopped taking it today, so I hope that I can get myself back to feeling good enough to go out!"

"I was super terrified to try Yasmin, but I wanted to try it for my hormonal acne. Yasmin has really helped (so far), my face has been gradually clearing up during the past 3 weeks, and my painful cysts are flattening. My skin is whiter too - less red and blotchy. So happy about that! I lost about 5 kilos in 3 days. I wore one pair of pants one day that were tight and had to change them at the end of the day because my thighs and stomach had so noticeably shrunk. It was like I took some kind of shrinking potion! I kept my chest though. :) I love Yasmin so far. I have more energy, less hair fall, better skin, no emotional flares, and it's helped with the insomnia that I got after my friend died. I sleep like a baby now. I was slightly nauseous for the first 2 days."

"I've just started Yasmin. I was on Diane-35 last year, then stopped, but the water weight didn't seem to go away, and I had cellulite that I had never had before Diane-35. In 9 days, I've lost about 2 kg. My mood seems fine so far. I have to visit the bathroom more often. The best thing - I'm about a cup size up, from B to about C now. It's fantastic, and I cannot wait for my boyfriend to see them! Diane-35 made me feel awkward and out of place because of the sudden water weight on my legs, bottom, arms, tummy, etc., but I feel so light on Yasmin. Yasmin gave me back my flat tummy (I had some bloating problems). First month in, and it's been fantastic. I cannot stop looking in the mirror."

"I have been taking Yasmin for 8 years (with a 10-month break after 5 years). I stopped to have a baby, pregnant within the first month off the pill and back on it right after birth. This pill has been great! Clear skin, no weight gain or side effects. I think people starting any pill will have a rough beginning but give it a chance. All body types are different, so nothing works for everyone... But this worked great for me."

"I recently started the Yasmin pill, and at first, I honestly didn't think I would be able to carry on with it because it was making me feel so nauseous! I also got really bad headaches, which caused me to be really moody. However, my doctor told me to give it a few weeks to settle and for my system to get used to it. I was not happy about this, let me say! I wanted to scream at her to feel how ill I felt. It got better though, on the fifth day, I woke up, and I felt fine all of a sudden, all of the side effects I was feeling had just gone. I had terrible skin, and it has made my skin so much better, and I feel fine now. If you're taking it and you're feeling ill like I did - I know it feels like crap, but honestly, just hold on, because it will go."

"Been on Yasmin for 6 months now after years on all other brands under the sun. I have always been fit and healthy, but for some reason on this pill, I am even thinner. I can't gain weight no matter how bad I eat, it's amazing! The only downside is I am so hungry a lot of the time, but it's awesome because it doesn't lead to any weight gain, so I can eat as much as I want! Also, no cramps at all, and I used to get them bad. Limited headaches. Finally, after 12 years, I've found something that works super well for me."

"Been on Yasmin for 5 years. Always had brain fog. Gained 50 lbs. Lost hair. Stressed. Appetite went way up. Recently decided to go off the pill. After the period, I instantly felt better. Sex drive is coming back. Just feel good. Hope it keeps up, but I'm not going back."

"I had a very severe stroke from using Yasmin, it was ten years ago but has still left me seriously disabled. Ladies, if you want to use birth control, just make sure that it is progesterone only, which is much safer for you. NOT combined estrogen and progesterone like Yasmin and Yaz. My neurologist, a stroke expert, gave me this information!"

"I've been on this pill for the past ten years, and I love it. I've never had a menstrual cramp in my life, I never feel PMS symptoms (bloating, cravings, moodiness, etc.). It has been helpful with acne. One downside is my sex drive has diminished, but it's hard to tell if the pill is the culprit, as I've been on it for ten years. No weight gain from this either!"

"Was on Yasmin for 6 years and for the first few years, everything was fine. No side effects at all. Until recently, when I started getting low moods, severe anxiety, IBS, and then ended up in A&E with severe abdominal pain, which turned out to be gallstones, all of which were attributed to this pill. So, cons: • Anxiety • Depression • Gallstones • IBS Pros: • Didn't get pregnant • Clear skin • Regular periods Did the pros worth the cons? Absolutely not."

"I regret ever taking this. Took it for 7 years. Everything was great while on it, but I lost about 40% of my hair volume (telogen effluvium) and had severe cystic acne for 6 months after it. On top of that, it messed with my humor. I felt angry and sad for months. It's now 1.5 years since I stopped it, and even though the condition has improved, I still have a long way to go. I had to cut my hair short, and I'm trying to fix the scarring from the acne."

"I’m almost 35, and I have been on several different birth controls since I was 16. Yaz was my favorite, but I recently switched to Yasmin. I worried my skin would break out because the FDA didn’t approve Yasmin for acne like Yaz is. My skin has continued to stay clear, and I personally haven’t had any issues with Yasmin."

"I have been taking Yasmin for 9 months, and I can say that it has protected me effectively against pregnancy. I have read about some negative effects that have been linked to this pill. However, I decided to take it because my mother took it for years without experiencing any side effects. During my first cycle taking the pill, I experienced mild nausea and upset stomach occasionally. However, the symptoms were gone by the time I started my second pack. I have not noticed any changes in my weight or in my mood. I have frequent muscle cramps in my legs, but I am not sure that this is being caused by the pill."

"Yasmin ruined my relationship! When I first started the pill, I loved it, my skin eventually improved, and my skin was sooo clear! My boobs looked amazing too. Well, that’s the only positive thing I can say about Yasmin. When it comes to my mental health, it literally made me crazy! I’m naturally a very calm, happy, and collected person. But these pills made me cry in front of my ex over small things. We couldn’t hold a serious conversation without me crying, I could get moody over small things, and then I couldn’t snap out of it, which made things worse. I’ve felt extremely anxious, paranoid, and depressed. My added anxiety has made me feel more insecure about myself. I have no energy to do my old activities that I used to enjoy. I feel lazy and like I can’t fully be in sync with my feelings. Basically, if you want great skin, go for it! But don’t be surprised if you suddenly get added depression, tears, and anxiety. I’m off them now, and I am already happier."

"Actually, one of the only contraceptive pills my body and I have gotten along with. Did help to clear up my skin (although I believe spots were caused by a previous pill), however, had to stop taking it after having the second dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine, as I had a resting heart rate of over 100 bpm constantly and heart palpitations. This pill, on average, can make women 3x more likely to have blood clots, and I don't think enough research has been done into the side effects of that mixed with COVID vaccines."

"This is a good birth control pill! I've been on Yasmin for a couple of years, and it has never failed on me. I also took it for acne, but that was hit or miss. I go through periods where my skin is clear and then periods where my skin is bad. If I wasn't on Yasmin, though, my skin would be 10x worse! In addition, my periods have gotten very light and only last 4 days. No mood swings, no nausea, no headaches. I truly recommend this pill."

"DO NOT TAKE THIS PILL. I have been on Lucette, AKA Yasmin, for 14 months. I initially went on this to control my acne as it was a real bad flare-up. My skin has been perfect, the ONE good thing. Now for the bad points - sex drive has been more or less non-existent for the whole duration. - I have experienced some excruciating migraines with temporary visual disturbances. I have also experienced enlarged veins with leg pains, which have been really frightening since this pill carries a high risk of DVT & PE. I did mention this to the practice nurse, but they still allowed me to take it? I have had, and still at this very moment, am suffering from incredible depression and anxiety. My mood is so, so low. I haven’t felt like this in my life with regards to mental health. I have no desire to socialize and have completely and utterly cut myself off. I wish I had never taken this pill, and I will never use any form of contraceptive pill with hormones ever again. Please do NOT start this pill."

"I’ve been taking Yasmin for about 9 months now. I have been experiencing horrible depression, been in such a dark place and not caring about anything at all. I’m a very lively and outgoing person, nothing in my life is wrong, but I’m having these feelings. I don’t smoke, nor drink, nor take any other medication, so it must be the pill. I’m expecting my period in two days, and then I will never take the contraceptive pill again. After having two kids, I have pleaded with my husband to get the snip, and I’ve categorically said that I’m not going back on medication as I’m seriously losing my sanity. In a way, I hope to God that it is the pill so I stop feeling the way that I have. It’s been so, so hard, and I just want to feel happy again."

"I was suffering from bad PMS from the day I ovulated to the day I finished bleeding. Bad pain, depression, mood swings. I've been on other hormones, but symptoms of depression and bloating would become worse. I also have PCOS. I started Yasmin with the intention to take it back to back to stop my period, and it has worked well for me. I feel happier and better in my moods, love not having a period, and I've got less facial hair. The only side effects are tender breasts (but this is lessening) and some headaches in the beginning. Also, the skin on my jaw gets a bit itchy, but other than that, it's been good: no weight gain or bloating. I'm aware of the risk of blood clots, I don't smoke and live an active lifestyle, so hoping this helps, as I would like to stay on this pill for as long as I can. I'm 33 and not planning a future pregnancy. If you have had bad reactions to other forms of contraception, it's worth a try. It's helped me a lot so far, where other hormones have made me feel worse."

"I started the pill purely for birth control, although I've always had painful periods and terrible skin. Since being on Yasmin, my face has completely cleared, and I only have a tiny amount of acne left on my upper back. My periods are no longer a nightmare and only last around 2 days, and the pains have almost completely disappeared. The only downside is it costs me $74 every 3 months, but other than that, I love it. I haven't had a single negative side effect to date."

"I used Yasmin for birth control reasons, as it was the lowest one available to me at the time that didn't cause breakthrough bleeding. It was great for birth control, and my skin is very clear after taking it. The main difference I noticed from other pills is that I would always get my period one day early (on the Sun instead of the Mon). I also had terrible mood swings and angry outbursts. My poor kids copped the brunt of my moods! I have been off Yasmin for two weeks now and am back to my calm and happy self, and my sex drive has returned. I am 42."

"I've taken Depo for about 5 years. I have a very serious large amount of cysts in both my ovaries, a few doctors have told me I have PCOS, and I used to be in a lot of pain from the cysts. My doctor suggested surgery to remove my ovaries, so I went to a different doctor. My new doctor prescribed me Yasmin as a birth control instead of the Depo I've been taking. It was so it would stop me from ovulating at all, and sure enough, within a month, the pain was gone. Yasmin helped me get rid of my ovarian cyst problem."

"I started taking the Yasmin pill two months ago because I saw how clear my friend's skin got and because I had problems with acne, but it wasn’t that severe. Within the first week of intake, my mom could already see the difference in my skin, and I got compliments from people, which really did make me happy. Until the 7-day break, it was torturous: endless anxiety, depression, confusion, mood swings. I just wasn’t great company, and it did have an effect on my mental health. The worst part is that you need help, but from where will it come from? Because your mind is a war zone. Pretty hurts."

"The best pill you can go on if you need to lose weight and clear up your skin! Before taking Yasmin, my skin was terrible, I broke out like crazy, and it was a real struggle to lose weight. Within the first 2-3 months of Yasmin, my skin was beautiful and clear, and within 6 months, the amount of weight I lost was crazy! At least 10 kilos lighter (along with a decent diet). The only con about Yasmin is I did get a little depressed and anxious, so I decided to get off the pill. A month or two after the pill, I started breaking out, and I gained weight. That's why I know Yasmin helps with acne and weight loss! It's literally your best friend. I've decided to go back on the pill, can't wait to look thinner and have beautiful skin!"

"I am in recovery for an eating disorder (binge purge anorexia) and decided to get prescribed “Yasmin.” After researching that it does not cause hair loss or weight gain (two very important things to me in recovery). I read many reviews and ignored them, thinking that as long as the stated above side effects didn’t happen, I would be happy. Not only has my mental health declined enormously, but I have also experienced a huge increase in my appetite, and with that, the gaining of 4 pounds over a mere 4 weeks. This has been extremely distressing, I cannot warn you enough. Nothing can make you gain weight but the food you put in your mouth, but it did create a sense of “lack of control” around food that I had spent months moving away from. It has made me feel crazy and not myself. Please listen to the long list of users that have had an awful experience and find a different one. Don’t do it to yourself and find another one. Hope this helps someone."
