For Depression "It works tremendously well on insomnia and really does help in maintaining normalcy in everyday life. Sleeping a lot at first, which in my case was a good thing. It's not the best for uplifting depression and doesn't help in taking away anxiety or panic attacks. The side effects for me were being easily bothered & hostile/angry. Will pass if you continue taking as directed, but each time you stop and then start again, the experience starts over. But keep in mind, side effects vary and it's different for each of us. What works for one might not work for another. I've been taking Sinequan/Doxepin for over two decades."

For Major Depressive Disorder "It’s the best antidepressant for major depression. I recommend it highly. I have no side effects. I take 250 mg a day in divided doses - one in the morning, one in the afternoon, and three at night. It took me a year to find it, and I love it. Thank you."

For Insomnia "Sinequan (doxepin) works very well for insomnia, especially since it not only causes drowsiness, but also because it relieves anxiety. A lot of insomnia is caused by overthinking or not being able to stop thinking or fretting. This is a good medicine for that. The only thing is it has more side effects than some of the newer drugs."

"My new psychiatrist chose this to replace multiple prescription drugs I was using at the time. 25mg was the initial dose and even after 10 days there was little change for me, other than the major issue of making me snap at people and feel anger/rage which were and are uncharacteristic for me. He upped the dose to 50mg and the major issue went away, and all the other things the prescription was supposed to do, it did! Depression, anxiety, trouble sleeping, restless legs - all gone! A concern later discovered by a team of doctors I had was that I was taking this and other prescriptions which prolong or extend QTc time for heartbeats, something which could cause sudden cardiac death if not monitored carefully by a cardiologist. My cardiologist calculated my QTc time to be right at the birder of the high acceptable normal range, so the other doctors wanted me to have medications adjusted to lower the QTc time and its risk. I had to stop Sinequan while temporarily."

For Anxiety "Sinequan didn't help my anxiety at all. I had a horrible experience with it in general on 25 mg, I believe tightness in my chest, and I got lightheaded. Don't take this med."

For Anxiety "If you're not able to take or no longer able to take SSRIs, SNRIs, and Benzos, this is a drug to consider. I've taken it off and on for decades. It helps tremendously in maintaining normalcy and is excellent for someone deprived of sleep. Takes time, but once adjusted, it will become less of a problem. Although it will continue to help for a good night's sleep. It's best to take this medication later in the afternoon until you do adjust. God bless."
