Colace (docusate) "I've had Crohn's disease practically my entire life. My doctors and I are totally stumped why I have had severe constipation for the last 2 months. I didn't change any of my medications or my eating habits. I have taken Colace 3 times a day, and my stool was still hard stool. With a surprise at the end. A little soft piece at the end that never came out. I guess that was the only piece of Colace that worked. Now, I'm back on it again. With the same constipation, bloating, painful cramping and my ilium is getting worse every day. The Colace does not work for me."

"I was given this medication to prevent constipation after surgery even though I have IBS & was previously taking linzess (which was VERY unpleasant causing severe cramping before release, but that was my life with IBS)"

"Wow! This stuff is a godsend. I had been backed up for 6 days. My last BM before this had been after 5 days of nothing and was probably the most painful thing I have ever experienced. So, fearing going through that again, I decided it was time to try a stool softener. I am so glad I did! Last night, I took one 100mg softgel. It didn’t do much, but things were definitely starting to move as I was finally able to at least pass gas. Come today, I took two more softgels (100mg) and a miracle happened! I have had 3 very satisfying BMs today. I will add, copious amounts of water/fluids will be your best friend here. I also had a glass of prune juice today, and began taking probiotics yesterday. There was no straining necessary at all with my poops, and they were mostly pain-free! Minimal side effects, aside from some gas and mild cramping. Which totally could just be the prune juice, not sure. Either way, this stuff is a lifesaver!"

"I get constipation and hard stools from my period almost every single cycle, but this stuff always works super quick. I eat plenty of fiber as is, so more fiber doesn't help, and glycerin suppositories are just uncomfortable, especially when wearing a tampon...!! Docusate always works within 10-15 minutes for me. I always drink it with some milk because I have lactose intolerance; it always clears me right up."

"I take five Docusate Sodium 50mg pills every morning at breakfast time, and usually by late afternoon, I have a good, easy-to-pass bowel movement, which is much better than bordering on constipation, which I want to avoid. It works for me."

Colace (docusate) "this the worse product I've been told to use. It hasn't helped with bowel movements at all and it was not cheap either. I wouldn't recommend to any one...."

"I was recently prescribed this medication to aid in not being constipated. But it's beyond nasty and makes me feel sick and I'm not just unable to vomit but I cannot get the taste out of my mouth."
