D.H.E. 45 (dihydroergotamine) "I have had severe migraines for years. I finally was put on Topamax about a year ago but that wasn't enough, I still had attacks that kept me from doing anything about 2 times a months. None of the triptans worked so my doctor finally suggested DHE injections. She taught me to give them to myself so I can do them at home and now I can stop a migraine when it starts and not miss work for days on end. If anything I miss one day here and there."

Migranal (dihydroergotamine) "I get very frequent migraines, up to 15 per month. Have tried just about everything, including narcotics to control migraines. I am currently on Inderall daily as preventative (have tried many, many, other drugs as well). Am currently taking Maxalt and Treximet, but doctor suggested we try the nasal spray. I had a full blown migraine when I tried it, so results may be a little off. Migranal caused burning in the nose, and throat, nasal congestion. It also left a nasty taste in my mouth. Woke up the next day with the migraine still lingering."

"I have used Migranal for years, but now the expense is very high. The medicine works well for me as well. The only reason for the cost is gouging by the drug companies that make this medicine. It is an old medication and the money they charge for it is not related to the cost of research or production. They charge this much because this country lets them get away with it. No other western country lets drug companies charge what they want for medicines. They should not be allowed to do it in the U.S. either. It is criminal."

Trudhesa (dihydroergotamine) "Used one time during a migraine episode (7 out of ten pain), the pain diminished in about 10 minutes to a 2-3 out of ten. The device/setup is a bit time-consuming but easy to use. However, side effects started immediately with dizziness, unwell physical and mental sensation. As well as severe burning in the nasal cavity/sinuses. I experienced nausea and abdominal pain (7 out of ten) for the next 2-3 hours. I took 25mg of Phenergan, yet I still projectile vomited 2 hours after the nausea began. I also experienced tingling in my arms and hands with mild to moderate discomfort. My sinuses became congested within the first hour and lasted the remainder of the night. I was unable to breathe through my nose until the following day. The next morning I awoke with mild nausea, diarrhea, fatigue, and a malaise feeling. Yes, the migraine dissipated and did not return the next day, but the side effects are too much for me to bare. I have had better experiences with other migraine medications, like Nurtec ODT."

Migranal (dihydroergotamine) "My daughter gets migraines that last 1-2 weeks. After years of misery and nothing working, I finally convinced her neurologist to let us try this. I read all reviews so had her take a zofran first. I gave her one pump in each nostril, waited an hour and did one more on each side. Within 30 mins the migraine was gone! We were on day 7 of misery. I am so happy this works and can be used at home. She had received this once before after being admitted to the hospital for a 3 week status migraine. It was previously an infusion. I had no idea we could get this drug for at home use. This drug is very expensive to buy but I did find a coupon. For 8 doses I was willing to do it just to end our misery. If you haven’t had luck with triptans give this a try. It’s a miracle drug!!! The only side effect was a bad taste in her mouth. No nausea but I did have her take the zofran 20 mins before I used the spray."

D.H.E. 45 (dihydroergotamine) "I had several days of DHE IV's, a good try of migraines. A few weeks of injectable DHE and it didn't do a thing for me. I wish it worked for my constant headache. I heard a lot of good things about it."

"After being refused permission to try medications from my pain treatment clinic, who only offered me super expensive and quite unpleasant/frightening surgical treatments and epidural steroid (and other serious types) injections, I found a way around them. I called my insurance and asked for medications that wouldn't require prior authorization from my pain clinic provider. Thankfully, I was successful and found an online appointment with a doctor who wrote me a prescription for this medication nasal spray. After 15 years of chronic and severe daily migraines (causing light, sound, fragrance, and ultra-sensitivity-induced vomiting) and countless painful procedures that didn't help whatsoever, this medication worked within 15 minutes. By 30 minutes, my migraine was completely gone. I am so very pleased that I don't have to worry any longer and can start living my life again without the fear of being crippled by debilitating and uncontrollable head throbbing and suffering."

Trudhesa (dihydroergotamine) "Within 4 hours of using Trudhesa I had chest pain and my watch alerted me of heart rate under 40 for greater than 10 minutes. I suffered bradycardia and pain, my heart rate has remained low and I’ve spent thousands in hospital bills and medical tests. And I still had a headache."
