For Pseudobulbar Affect "It has been about two weeks since I've been taking Nuedexta. I went to my doctor back then as I was having angry outbursts as well as increased thoughts of hurting myself or others. Additionally, my anger was taking over any type of rational decision making. My doctor prescribed Nuedexta...just more recently, I've felt somewhat of a change. I don't feel as angry and if I'm in an anger-provoking situation, I know I have to 'step aside' and take time out. This never happened until I took Nuedexta. The only complaint I have about the medicine is that since it's new on the market--as far as I know, as the pharmacist had never heard of it--the cost was high and I had to wait a day for the prescription to be delivered."

For Pseudobulbar Affect "I suffered a bilateral subarachnoid brain hemorrhage and am happy to be alive. However, one of many hurdles left behind for me to deal with was laughing at inappropriate times and crying at the drop of a hat. My brilliant Doctor prescribed Nuedexta. I have not had an outburst since taking the medicine and no side effects at all."

For Pseudobulbar Affect "Diagnosed with a paraneoplastic neurological syndrome that has been progressive. Latest development was extreme mood changes and sudden outbursts. After one week on Nuedexta, I felt much improvement. Had to stop during the third week due to infection (I am immunodeficient due to chemo) and the antibiotics I was taking. Fell back into prior symptoms. Now into the second week retaking and positive effect is the same as the first time around. The difference is remarkable."

For Pseudobulbar Affect "Sustained a traumatic brain injury (TBI) and subsequently had a stroke. I was depressed about the sudden limitations of what I could do after the TBI. I was on the antidepressant CYMBALTA, which had no effect. Within 7 days of taking Nuedexta, I did not feel as hopeless. I had been very much an A-type personality and practiced as an attorney prior to my TBI and subsequent stroke. I had great difficulty in suddenly having limitations regarding what I was able to do, my memory, and executive function. I am grateful I was referred by my neurologist to another neurologist who specialized in TBI. Not many physicians, including neurologists, have a proper understanding of traumatic brain injuries, let alone how to treat them. The price REALLY should be lower."

For Pseudobulbar Affect "After my dad was finally diagnosed with dementia/Alzheimer's, he went through aggressive behavior and tried to hurt himself. Risperidone helped with the aggression, but the constant yelling and crying started. After lots of trials, the doctor prescribed Nuedexta, which took away most of the yelling and crying. He is more alert and thinking more clearly. We are truly happy to be able to visit and enjoy our time together."

For Pseudobulbar Affect "This medicine has changed my life. I suffer from rapid cycling bipolar. My up-and-down mood swings had been well controlled with valproic acid, but I was left with spontaneous crying jags. It was so frustrating to be completely unable to control my outward emotional appearance. It's hard to be taken seriously at work or find a new job if I look like I'm having a total breakdown. Internally, of course, I know this will be over in minutes, and I don't feel any emotion about it at all except intense embarrassment. I found I started to avoid situations I couldn't predict. After about two weeks on this medication twice a day, my crying stopped. I feel like a new person. I am so much more confident about going about my daily life."

For Pseudobulbar Affect "I have MS, and hadn't even considered that it was affecting moods, such as anger and constant crying. I've been taking Nuedexta for approx. 3 months now. It has helped me exponentially! Now I no longer cry all day, and I don't often yell! Nuedexta really smoothed things out for me!"

For Pseudobulbar Affect "I started Nuedexta almost two months ago due to severe mood swings, angry outbursts, and frequent crying episodes. Thanks to this medicine, these behaviors have pretty much stopped. I do think for two generic drugs that the price should be lower."

"Been on many depression medicines most of my life, I'm 44. I have severe depression, I would just cry and bawl. It felt like a loved one died. I can't explain the sadness and pain. I got so mad at myself when I cried and people would see me, it made me look weak. The doctor added this to my meds, and it was like night and day! I wasn't crying and feeling that sadness. The medicine was expensive, so she was giving me samples for 8 months until the rep stopped coming, so we tapered off so I could go off of it. I thought it would be fine because I was feeling better. But after 2 weeks, I started to feel like I used to, crying a lot. Everything made me cry, I got upset, it would ruin my whole day. It was hard to stop once I started. I've tried other pills, nothing helped like Nuedexta. My insurance changed, and I was happy it covered this. I got back on it, and within a week or so, I could tell a major difference! I'm still on it years later, and I have more confidence, and the outbursts of crying have stopped! I feel normal again, it's amazing!"

For Pseudobulbar Affect "My wife suffered multiple strokes, and after we discovered she also had the crying and laughing syndrome everyone here is talking about. Life without Nuedexta is awful, there is constant crying and uncontrollable laughter to the point I worry about her blood pressure. My only complaint is the cost of this drug, out of pocket, it is nearly $1,300.00 for our 90-day prescription. After much research about possible generic drugs, I found that the patent won’t be up until 2024 or something like that. The good news is that it’s made up of basically the same substance as a Walgreen cough pill called Wal-phen, the same exact ingredient, except without the time release, which basically tells me I had to try multiple pills instead of one. So, at the cost of $8.99, I tried it, and it actually works. So we now take 2 Wal-phen in the mornings and 1 regular Nuedexta at night, and everyone’s happy."

For Pseudobulbar Affect "I took this medication for PBA after a brain stem stroke. It seems to get good reviews, but it was not the case for me. Lost all of my energy and enthusiasm. Made me so depressed. Seriously. Stayed on it too long because I was looking for a good result. Seemed to work so well for others. Be careful."

"I have been taking Nuedexta for depression for about 3 years for major depression. It seems to be working, plus I used to get angry and curse over the littlest thing, and that rarely happens anymore. Unfortunately, my insurance will not cover the prescription, and I take 3 capsules a day."

"My daughter is 28 years old and has been diagnosed with autism since the age of four years. She had been on stimulants which really helped, notably with her short and long-term memory. Her articulation of words is clearer and appropriate for what she is referring to. Her memory recall is 87% prior to starting this medication. Technically, she is classified as having a TBI at birth. As a clinician with over 20 years of working with this specific population, I have never seen development in anyone as I have in her, and she continues to improve. I have to believe that the prefrontal cortex is waking up, and anything is possible."

For Pseudobulbar Affect "Greatest drug on the market. No brain trauma, just severely depressed for over 30 years. Cried all the time. Never felt like a normal human until I went on Nuedexta. Now, after 3 years on it, new insurance won't pay for it. Nothing else like it, so I have to stop. I am dreading my life not taking it."

For Pseudobulbar Affect "Nuedexta has changed my life for the better. It took 17 years to get a real diagnosis for a neurological illness. 12 years ago, I experienced PBA, unfortunately, the medical department thought I was crazy, and the journey began. I have taken many drugs for mental disorders, they made everything worse. The fevers, body aches, muscle stiffness, just outright torture. Now that I am diagnosed correctly and am on treatment, I asked my doctor for Nuedexta for mood shifts and an inability to stop crying. It changed my life and made my mood stable. No more drop-of-a-hat outbursts. As a side note, I hope this drug can be utilized more in the mental health industry to help those with anger issues. Mental health doctors I've talked to said they can't just prescribe it alone. What gives? So glad I have Nuedexta in my life."

"I had a traumatic brain injury as a teen, and since my accident, I have suffered from panic disorder and depression for 10 years. Six months ago, I was put on Nuedexta off-label for my mental health issues, and it’s literally changed my life. I’ve tried everything: therapy, SSRIs, ketamine infusions - Nuedexta has been the biggest help by far. I pair it with a low dose of Zoloft, and I’m not depressed at all anymore and have way less anxiety/panic attacks. I try not to be overzealous, especially about big pharma, but for my brain at least, it’s night and day."

"I have never left a review for a medication or much of anything else in my life. Nuedexta deserves my time!!! This drug has been life-changing. I am about 120 days into my prescription, and it makes everything so much easier. I had a TBI about 2 years ago, and I was without O2 for about 6 minutes during my accident. I crashed an ultralight airplane into a frozen lake. I have been on Nuedexta now for just over 3 months... If you try to take it away from me, bad things will happen to you!!!! It has been amazing, I feel so much more like myself, and I am getting social again! I almost have my voice back completely! I can move muscle groups that have been dormant for 2 years!! I have ZERO swallowing or other related problems! I have made more progress in the past 3 months than the past 2 years. It has come with pretty severe nerve pain, it turned on groups that were dormant too, but we are getting it controlled and is SO worth it! I DON'T HAVE TO THINK ABOUT EVERY MOVE I MAKE!!!!"

For Pseudobulbar Affect "I have MS and my mood swings were unbearable. I feel like this drug has balanced out my brain. Not only am I no longer sad and suffering, I think more rationally. I am going through a very stressful time in my life. Normally, I should just want to lay in bed and cry. This drug has put me in control of my emotions! I have tried a variety of antidepressants. They made me feel numb. I hated them. This drug is different! I also have a history of self-medicating with alcohol to cope with my anxiety when a very stressful situation occurs. Since I have started this med, I have no desire or urge. I'm not one to get online and write a review. But I feel like this is helping me live again. And I want to share the word!"
