Dextroamphetamine "I have had to deal with narcolepsy, ADHD, and sleep apnea since 16 years old till 66 years old. Dexedrine has been much more tolerated for me than Ritalin or Adderall. Ritalin has less tension, confusion, actions, and decisions. Dexedrine is far better but not as good as Nuvigil."

"I have narcolepsy and ADHD. I'm a poor CYP2D6 metabolizer, so pretty much every amphetamine-based product is way too stimulating for me, and methylphenidate has no effect. I was hesitant to try the tabs considering my terrible reaction to Adderall IR and ER, but shockingly, it not only greatly reduces my sleepiness and helps my focus, but the only side effect I get is a slight increase in heart rate. I've been able to enjoy my afternoons without a long nap! I'm kind of mad I never tried it before."

"I have been taking it for over 34 years and am on 10 mg tabs 3 times a day. It works well for me with almost no side effects. Started on Ritalin, and it did not work well for me. Also tried modafinil, it was too weak. Don't give up trying to treat your symptoms, as doctors don't want to give amphetamines to you."

Dextroamphetamine "I have never had a worse experience on a medication. After having limited success on modafinil, armodafinil, Sunosi, and Adderall, my doctor prescribed me this Dexedrine dose at 10 mg, and it is terrible. I go two- to three-day stretches without sleeping, have had the most debilitating anxiety of my entire life, and feel like I am going insane. Yes, I’m staying awake, but it has been the worst time of my entire life."

"I was prescribed dextroamphetamine (Adderall) a year and a half ago. I was diagnosed with narcolepsy. I have been this way most of my life, and I’m 56 years old. I always thought it was due to depression. At first, I was prescribed 10 mg twice a day, and I thought I’d died and gone to heaven! It has totally given me a life. I have had to up the mg once so far and am trying to up them again now. It seems like, after a few months, it loses its magic. However, never before knowing anything about narcolepsy or Adderall, I am ever so grateful to my sleep doctor! What a difference one little pill can make."

"I am taking dex for narcolepsy to keep me awake, and I’ve noticed that I am almost constantly in “the mood.” When I wake up, when I’m going to bed, wow, even if I’m eating lunch. I’ve also noticed I’ve been a lot more “wet” lately too. It’s not something I’m exactly used to, but it’s also not a bad thing. I was wondering if it had anything to do with my medication, and it seems so. The problem I’ve run into is the fact that my partner isn’t in “the mood” as often as I am, and I wasn’t sure how to approach him about this subject."

"I can’t take two or three 5 mg and end up sleeping the entire day away with no issue! Very disappointed. If anything, it just gets my heart rate going wicked fast."
