"I went on Apri after taking Tri-Sprintec for 2.5 years. I have now been on Apri for about a year. Before taking Apri, I struggled with breakthrough bleeding and very irregular periods. Now my period is so consistent and short. My period went from 6 days to 2-3 with no spotting. It was a life changer. Every person is different, so do not take the super negative reviews seriously. Apri has changed my life!! If you struggle with breakthrough bleeding, super long periods, or irregular periods, I 100% recommend this option. I get no acne, and my mood swings are no worse than they were normally, LOL!! Good luck on your journey!"

"I have been taking Apri since I was 18, and I never had cramps or headaches during my period. Over the last year, I have noticed such a change when taking this birth control. I have nausea and terrible migraines during my period that I cannot even do anything. Also, I get crazy hot flashes as well. I’m in my late 20s, so I am guessing my hormones have changed and this pill just isn’t doing it anymore. I haven’t really ever had issues with the anxiety/depression like others have (thankfully), but I do notice a huge change in my mood when I am on my period and not taking this birth control. I think the fluctuation in hormones just messes me up for a few days. I would recommend it for people, but like any medication, you need to just be self-aware of how it is making you feel."

"I have been taking this birth control for 6 months now, and as far as I'm concerned, it works well. I haven't gotten pregnant, and I don't use condoms with my significant other. The first few months, I may have had a little bit of nausea and bloating, but that's all gone now. My acne has pretty much stayed the same, but my periods are lighter and shorter. They are also very regular. As for changing my weight, I believe Apri has actually helped regulate my weight, so I haven't gained any pounds nor lost any while maintaining the same diet. Mood swings could probably be better, but that comes with all young female adults under stress anyway."

"Let me tell you that the first couple of months of Apri were bad. I had trouble sleeping, nausea, very tender breasts, among other things, but the worst part was the depression and anxiety. I would cry pretty much every day for absolutely no reason. I lost a lot of motivation to do anything. It was pretty miserable, but I decided to stick it out for a couple of months hoping that these symptoms would go away, and they did. I’ve now been on this birth control for about 6 months and I am very happy with it. It regulates my period, which is the main reason I went on birth control because my periods were consistently 10 days long and very irregular, sometimes I’d have a 2-week cycle, sometimes 2 months. Now I get a 5-day period, exactly every four weeks, it’s great. I do still get cramps, but they are not as bad as they were before I went on Apri. I would recommend this birth control if you are prepared for a rough first couple of months."

"So I've seen a lot of bad reviews, and I was kind of shocked. I used to take this some years back, and because I didn't know how to get more or was just too embarrassed to get more, I stopped using it. My experience on it previously was really good, I had no acne, no periods, no babies. My mood was always good, a little more feisty, but I had more confidence. I lost weight, probably 10 pounds, I was a little too skinny. My sex drive was through the roof as well, which could be uncomfortable at times (I was single then). I went on different ones after that, NuvaRing gave me leg pains, so I stopped it. Loestrin Fe, I think. Those sucked, so I went back to old faithful. My acne got really bad after I got off NuvaRing, and I hadn't had acne since I was 17."

"Ever since being on Apri, I have noticed a huge change in my mood swings, they're basically gone. I'm happy all the time, and I didn't really get any side effects. My sexual drive has gone up, and if any side effects have shown at all, it would probably be that my boobs got a little bigger. This is the first pill I've been on, and it's great!"

"Unbelievably negative experience here. My natural demeanor is optimistic, easy-going, fun-loving, and happy. Upon the second or third month I was on this birth control, I noticed drastic mood swings, feeling agitated, and being irritable constantly. It felt like out of nowhere, I had serious anger management issues. I blamed a stressful job. I'm now on the seventh month taking this pill, and my zeal for life is completely gone. I am depressed, lethargic, and have terribly dark thoughts about myself, the ones I love, and life in general. That is wildly uncharacteristic of me. The week that I take the sugar pill, I am nearly 100% myself. Within two days of starting my next pack, I'm back in the dark hole. I have also experienced some minor stomach issues, including constant gas/bloating and loss of appetite."

"I love Apri. I tried another birth control, and it made me so depressed, but on Apri, I feel just fine. The only problem is that in 18 months on the pill, I have gained about 20 pounds, with very little change in my diet and exercise. It is SO HARD to lose weight on Apri."

"I have been reading all these negatives. I beg to differ. My daughter has been on Apri for almost a year now, and she has lost 25 lbs. Her face is now beautiful and smooth, no more acne! It curbs her appetite tremendously. I have to mention that she needed to lose the weight. I have nothing but good things to say about these pills. No negative side effects. I only wish they had these when I was a teenager."

"My experience with Apri has been great. I have been on it for about 5 years now. I do not get any of the side effects - no headaches, mood swings, weight gain, etc. I was recommended by 2 doctors to take 4 x 21 packs of Apri in a row, totaling 3 months of birth control, then stopping for a week to get my period. So this means that you only get your periods 4 times a year. This causes no health risks at all (unless you take it longer than 3 months in a row), and I have been doing this for 3 years with no side effects at all. I have spoken to 4 doctors about this, and none of them disagreed with this method. I was told to try it, and if it worked for me, to definitely keep doing it. *May not be for everyone, so please consult your doctor first*."

"I have been on this birth control for almost 10 years. It has cleared up my acne, made my periods lighter, and my breasts went from a size B to a size C. The only negative effect is that it may have made my eyes even drier than they already are. When I tried to stop using Apri, just to see how my body would react because I didn't want to be taking medicine for no reason, all my acne on my face came back, and I even had acne on my chest and my back, which I had never had before. I am kind of afraid to ever stop taking it for that reason."

"I have been on Apri for a year and was recently put on another, then forced back due to a recall. I was so sad to be put back on Apri. While off for 2 months, my weight had gone down, and my sex drive went back to normal, and I had energy again. Now back on for not even a month, and everything is getting messed up again. It's not the pill's fault, but you may notice weight gain, feel sluggish, and a lower sex drive if your body reacts to this the same way I do. :( It's time to figure out something else... My body and relationship can't go through this again."

"My doctor switched me to Apri because the birth control pill I was using before is no longer available. I’ve only been taking it for a little over 1 month, but I’ve already had 2 migraines. I’ve never had a migraine before! Also, my face is covered in acne, and I’ve gained 5 pounds. My self-confidence has never been so low. I’m very unhappy with Apri :("

"I am 20 and have been on this birth control for years. I mean at least 3-4. I can say I have absolutely zero sex drive whatsoever. I didn’t even understand how girls were even interested in sex at my age, or even in the slightest. It made no sense to me. It’s really sucked. I am still on it to this day because I am prescribed Accutane and you have to be on a contraceptive to be on it. I haven’t noticed my skin get any better on this, but I didn’t even know people switched birth controls and have been living in sadness for years. I don’t know if the sadness is from the birth control or not, but it’s also been there for years. I hate these pills with a passion. Don’t be me, who feels like an 80-year-old woman with no sex drive and just feels like general garbage."

"I was switched from Junel to Apri because of breakthrough bleeding. While that has been fixed, Apri has some pretty serious negative side effects for me. My mood is completely unstable and swings terribly, and my anxiety is uncontrollable. Sex drive is basically nonexistent. Other than that, no weight gain, acne, lighter periods, and less painful cramping (my cramps were unbearable before)."

"I have recently switched to Apri28 from having tried a handful before it. I have been on Yasmin for the past 3 and a half years. Nothing really affected me except that I felt I was getting really moody and would snap for no reason, and I was always a happy person before. So naturally, I wanted a change. I waited a month after coming off of it, and my back and forehead started to break out, which I NEVER had, even before Yasmin, so I started taking Apri right away. Honestly, it took a couple weeks for my body to adjust, but I am clear once again, I feel like myself FINALLY! And I haven't had any problems. My left leg was a little tingly at times after a week or two, but that is gone. Even after only 2 months, I know it was a good choice for me."

"I've been taking this birth control for 5 months now. I was kinda hesitant about taking them because I read reviews, but I've decided to give them a try. I can say this birth control saved me from getting pregnant. I still suffer from painful period pains. My weight is up and down. I was on Levora before this one, but overall that's all I can say."

"I started on Apri a month ago. Was on Kariva for 6 months and then started bleeding during the 3rd week of pills that month, so my doctor switched me to Apri as it has more estrogen to stop the breakthrough bleeding. It worked right away, and I have had no problems or side effects switching to a higher dose pill. I am 42, and birth control pills have helped immensely with the pain I would have each month. My periods are lighter, with no severe stomach pain, so I’m praying Apri will keep working for me. It even helped with my headaches."

"Highly recommend, no weight gain or mood swings compared to other birth control pills I have taken. Everyone is different, but I give this birth control an excellent review because of the experiences I have had with others."

"My old birth control made me very mean, but when I switched to Apri, my mood has been very balanced. Not only that, the horrible acne on my back cleared up, and now my back is beautiful. My periods are like clockwork, and if you take birth control for mostly preventing pregnancy, take this. My husband and I don't use condoms, and I can't believe I'm not pregnant. (If you know what I mean) I trust this birth control."

"I am a 22-year-old, and I was only on Apri for almost three months, and I couldn't handle the effects it was giving me. Before Apri, I was on Tri-Sprintec for like five years, and I had breakthrough bleeding, so my doctor prescribed me this. No joke, just two days after taking it, I started getting migraines, and I fell into depression, and I have never gotten migraines before. Since I was in finals, I had to fight through the effects, but it was not fun. Before getting my period, I would get some strong cramps that felt like someone was stabbing me in my pelvic area, having hot flashes, and wanting to just sleep all day. In addition to this, my discharge started to become heavy; I would have to go to the bathroom to clean myself down there because I felt it leaking; it was not fun. This was my effect on this, and I don't think everyone would get this; this was how my body handled it. Just take precautions and ask your doctor too if this formula is okay for you."

"I like this Apri birth control pill a lot! I was quite surprised running across all these negative reviews. I understand everyone has a different experience with Apri and is affected everyone differently. Personally, I’ve had no problems, although it’s only been a few weeks of being on it. If anything, my mood swings (from when I was BC free) have gone down DRASTICALLY. I feel much more chilled out and content. No cramping, headaches, etc., but slight anxiety. I have noticed a little weight gain, but this is something that isn’t that big of a problem for me or detrimental. I was initially taking Depo, which caused me to bleed every day straight for 3 months (the same amount I normally would at the start of a period, except EVERYDAY) and suffered from cramps from time to time and nausea. My doctor switched me over to Apri, and so far I have little to no complaints. My skin has been consistently clear and I don’t feel fatigued."

"I decided to get birth control and was prescribed Apri. I was 21 at the time, and it was my first time getting birth control. Apri has given me no harsh side effects. In fact, it cleared up my cystic acne, regulated my very irregular periods, and has helped to minimize the severe back pain I would get during periods. Although I didn’t gain any weight, Apri did make my breasts grow. Taken on time, every day, Apri has proven to me to be a very good birth control."

"I have to say, so far, so good! I was diagnosed with endometriosis and had to find the right hormone therapy post-surgery. I have had so much success in 2 months on Apri. I have been skipping the placebo pills and skipping my periods (instructed by my MD). I have had 0 spotting. I had headaches the first week for sure, but that passed! I tried a few other pills before my surgery that really upset my stomach and cycle. This pill has been a lifesaver!"
