Farxiga (dapagliflozin) "I started out taking Trulicity once a week with Trajenta once a day. Loved my low A1c which came down to 5.8 without much work on my part. However, I developed gastroparesis. Although Trulicity is awesome with once a week injection (not insulin), the symptoms with gastroparesis were just too much. Anyway my endo put me on Xigduo (Farxiga 5 mg / 1000 mg metformin combo) in July 2020. My A1c started creeping up to 6.8. I wasn't happy with that so she added another 5 mg of Farxiga to be taken with Xigduo. I have been doing great. A1c is down to 6.0 and I've lost 20 pounds since January 2021 without really any work on my part. Believe me I am not the perfect diabetic either. I have always drank tons of water so peeing all the time has always been part of my life. Plus I have no more gastroparesis symptoms."

"Been taking Forxiga 10mg for 7 weeks, first week i was very tired but drunk more water to 5 litres a day, also had few very bad headaches taken care by paracetamol. Then Forxiga gave perfect blood sugar 5.6 quite constant, taken with 2 x 40mg Gliclazide. I never felt so good in my life. To prevent thrush (Male) i was penis after every pee with plain water in a mug. The first box Forxiga were made in UK by Astra/zeneca in a white box & little display info on it, they were brilliant, then i went to collect 2 boxes from chemist and was given Forxiga dapagliflozinum 10mg Astra/Zeneca made in Malta ! and the effect totally different, i started feeling sick & after 3 weeks razor sore throat so stopped taking."

"Concerning Hair Loss Since Taking Farxiga: I was diagnosed with T2 diabetes Jan 2020 with an A1C of 13.5. My doctor started me on Farxiga 5mg every morning and Ozempic .25 sub q once a week. Over the last 4 weeks or so I’ve had a concerning amount of hair loss which prompted a telehealth appointment with my doctor 10 days ago, he “thinks” it may be stress related as I work in a hospital ER and with Covid-19 the atmosphere is stressful. I voiced my concerns about the Farxiga and Ozempic RX’s since they are the only new medications I’ve started; he said he didn’t see that as a reported concern however he suggested I stop taking the Farxiga for a week or so to see if there’s improvement; 10 days later, I’m not seeing any improvement however I’m going to give it a few more weeks now that I’ve read here that others have had hair loss as well. I want to give it time to get out of my system and see if it’s any better."

"I have been on this for over a year now. Up until two weeks ago it kept my bloods pretty good and I didn't have to be terribly strict. I stopped surfing and doing muay thai (Thai boxing) two weeks ago due to an injury and not sure if it is the lack of exercise or if it has stopped working but eating things that normally would have kept me normal, are now spiking me and I have gotten up to 18 at times, which scared me (albeit they go down into range within 30 minutes or so). I must admit no other side effects other than thrush, which is annoying, but worth it as I also drop weight super easy and lost a considerable amount and it stays down. Hoping to go for a light jog tonight and so hopefully that will sort my recent spikes out"

"So daughter is 25yrs old with Down Syndrome. A few weeks after her 2nd covid vaccine her sugar levels went from being normal to the high 20’s. GP put her on dapagliflozin but the following day she was peeing blood!!! Got a urine sample to the GP and they said there was blood and infection in it so have sent it away for further testing. 3 days later daughter developed thrush and cystitis. In an awful state and in a lot of pain!!! I told the GP initially that I didn’t want my daughter on this tablet because of the side effects but he insisted!!! Now I’ve had a week of her being really poorly and it’s messed up her kidneys so she’s on 2 different antibiotics and fluconazole for thrush!!! I have no faith in GP prescribing for diabetes especially in our surgery. My daughter is special needs and has lots of other medical conditions and even the local 2 pharmacists are useless!!!!!!!"

"Diabex (slow release metformin) stopped working slowly over a period of about 9 years, basically since diagnosis. Doctor put me on this drug (combination Metformin & Dapagliflozin) called Xigduo XR (1000mg/5mg respectively X2 daily). Took about 4 to 5 weeks but levels started dropping steadily and now regularly get 5. Initially did get a little stomach upsets and cramping , slight diarrhea, but it eased after a couple of weeks. The best thing is the weight loss...Lost 16kg in about 5 months and it's stayed off!! Not doing anything different. Now back to recommended weight for my height, Yay!! Do seem to pee a little bit more, but the benefits, including liver function and kidneys returning to normal are amazing."

"Took about 9 months but stopped today as I feel it was giving me really bad side effects. It did help drop my Hba1c from 115 down to 89 - UK chart (still high I know). At first my wrists started to hurt, that subsided but now I have quite bad confusion, weird woozy head pressure/headaches dry eyes and muscle weakness in calves and left arm. It made me pee a lot and I suspect I was also losing electrolytes. I feel a bit like a zombie but I hope to feel better soon, now that I have stopped taking it. I’m going back to Metformin and have started a vegan diet. Currently not on any meds (2 days) and by sugars are really looking A LOT better following vegan diet. I don’t think this drug should even be on the market to be honest. I’m not sure if I can post updates on this site but I will try in 1-3 months time to let everyone know if the side effects have fully worn off. I am male, 30 years and have had T2D for about 4 years."

"Have been on 10mg Forxiga for 10 months, have had extreme thirst / constant urination, headaches, dizziness and an inability to concentrate and yeast infections constantly but have lost 15kg. I halved my dosage to 5mg one month ago and feel heaps better in all aspects and am increasing exercise to keep weight off. I want to stop Forxiga altogether as my biggest fear is this weird inability to concentrate as I require good mental clarity and long periods of concentration in my job. Has anyone else found it affects their ability to concentrate? I find it really scary and may have to stop it for this reason alone."

"I have been on this for 9 months. 3 month blood sugar levels back to better than normal. Yes I did pee more often, but even that has rescinded and if I watch what I drink before bed, once a night peeing for my age is good. Also since taking this drug my eyesight issue cleared up. Btw, I take it with Linagliptin. Weight loss, yes a little, but I didn’t have much to lose anyways, so another inch of the waist has taken me back to my 30yr old waist when I am double that age."

"Been on this for 6 months together with metformin and gliclazide, didn't lose an ounce, frequent peeing, weeping eyes and trouble focusing, had a hypo everyday at 11.30 am, told nurse and we agreed on lowering the gliclazide to one in morning and one at night, made no difference so I dropped it altogether, hey presto..no more hypos, lost about five kilos and blood sugars on a morning around 7-8, awaiting results for HBa1c. Still got eye issues to the point where I may need new glasses, not sure whether to blame dapagliflozin for that though ? other than that I am normal and seem to tolerate it better than others."

"An experimental on the part of my doctor. Gave me samples to try Farxiga for 10days. Let me tell you the Good thing first: it lowers my sugar level. Bad things that happened to me: dizziness, dehyradrated, UTI (I was so shocked to have this) and I'm so grumpy after taking Farxiga. Just now, the main doctor called me and told me about the urine test and he said it was very high in infection and that antibiotic was ordered at the pharmacy for me to pick up. Told me to stop taking Farxiga and just continue with Metformin. So Metformin it is and my supplement to control sugar level. I have not taken antibiotics for really long years, and now with this Farxiga...the cons."

"Started on this tablet as the Metformin still affected my stomach and causing bouts of diarrhoea. When I changed to Forxiga Dapagliflozin (5mg) I was pleased the dose consisted of one small tablet a day, however the worst side effect was the constant thirst, even throughout the night I was getting up to drink 2 or 3 times then I started with thrush which meant I was having to take tablets for the side effects - so I gave up. Now back to Metformin slow release but 3 x 500mg a day :-("

"I am 82 year old and diabetic since 40 yrs. Taking Insulin 13 units + Metformin 2 x 500mg daily. Doctor recently added Dapagliflozin to stabilize blood sugar. The drug gave me severe skin rash. I had to discontinue taking this Dapagliflozin. But my BG levels did come down and are being maintained well with my normal medications."

"I have hypothyroidism.. So I'm taking eltroxin 200.. After a routine check up my blood sugar was marginally high.. And a1c was pretty high.. 8.. So the doctor put me on glycomet Sr 500 which is metformin and farxiga 10 mg.. This was in August 2016.. Since then.. My sugar has been under control.. But I had numerous yeast infections and past three months.. I have had pinworm infestation.. I took alvendazole.. And it was momentarily OK.. But. Now the pinworms are back.. With more yeast infection... But I fear the pinworms have infected my uterus and fallopian tubes.. As I'm having constant pain.. I am over weight and farxiga has done nothing to reduce it.. As I'm constantly hungry.. Thirsty.. Pinworms made my life hell.. Finally stopped farxiga.. Feel much better.. My gynaecologist prescribed for the yeast infection.. Finally feeling like a human again.. But I fear my fallopian tube have been permanently scared.. As I get frequent intermittent spotting.. And cramps.. I will not recommend"

Farxiga (dapagliflozin) "The medication states that you can get a UTI when using this drug. Well, guess what? I never had a UTI in my life until now. This happened two weeks after I started taking this. I am 66 years old, and I have always heard that once you get a UTI, you are susceptible to getting them on and off from that point on. Gee, thanks! UTIs left untreated can lead to dementia. I am going to talk to my doctor to find out what, if anything, I can do alternatively to lower my glucose level or otherwise see what the improvement turns out to be. I am also planning to get a Pap smear as well because it states that you can get a yeast infection, so I want to make sure I didn't get that as well! Besides these two things, the medication has some promising effects. Still too early to tell. I am conflicted in my opinion."
