Pradaxa (dabigatran) "I had been taking Pradaxa for 3 weeks when one morning I went to get out of bed and had such severe pain in my knees that I almost fell down. With help I got to the bathroom. I had a scan to be sure I had blood flow, which I did. I had a blood test to see if my potassium level was okay and it was fine. At that point I got off Pradaxa and went to warfarin. I'll just put up with the blood tests and bruising for the next 2 months. Hopefully I will be off the warfarin then."

Pradaxa (dabigatran) "I was diagnosed with a blood clotting disorder 10 years ago after a blood clot took 3 ft of my small intestine. I've been on Coumadin ever since until about a month ago when my doctor suggested Pradaxa. Overall it's been a good change, decreased bruising and no blood tests, and increased amount of greens in my diet. The down side is trying to remember to take it twice a day with food. I have noticed a slight change in my weight...it's gone up. I don't know if it's from the Pradaxa or not. Last night I took it after a small snack and suffered almost immediate heartburn/acid reflux. I'm still suffering this morning....hopefully it will pass soon."

Pradaxa (dabigatran) "Have been on Pradaxa for 7 months, like it a lot better then Coumadin. Taking it because of going into atrial fibrillation after lung surgery 2 years ago. I was put on Coumadin and told not to eat leafy greens. When you have had lung cancer you're supposed to eat leafy greens. They couldn't control the highs and lows I had with Coumadin. My only side effect is a burning feeling in my left knee to my foot but not sure it is related and am having tests done next month for circulation."

Pradaxa (dabigatran) "I have been taking Pradaxa for about three months and apart from the occasional heartburn, usually quite mild, I have had no real side effects other than a little more gas, but have felt much better in general and really appreciate the ability to eat green vegetables and not have the blood tests required by Warfarin. I have not had any bleeding problems and scratches seem to stop bleeding much more quickly than when using warfarin and no bruising. I shall continue to use Pradaxa as long as my doctor is happy with the treatment."

Pradaxa (dabigatran) "I've been taking 150mg x 2 per day for 5 weeks. I started it prior to a right side A-flutter ablation, and then a month later, a left side A-fibrillation ablation. I was on Coumadin for about two years while we got to the root cause of my cardiac issues, and I DO NOT miss bi-weekly sticks etc. when adjusting medicines up or down depending on INR results. The only downside for me is the slight nausea and daily loose bowel movements. I do a bit of traveling for work, and it can make the flying portion of travel rather nerve wrecking."

Pradaxa (dabigatran) "I’ve been on Pradaxa for four months now and the only side effect is itching. It’s mild but still annoying, especially after I’ve gone to bed. Has anyone else had this problem? Can you offer any advice?"

Pradaxa (dabigatran) "I have a leaky valve causing irregular heartbeat and have been taking Pradaxa for around 15 years allowing me to maintain a very active life without ever worrying about having a stroke due to blood clots. As I have a delicate stomach my doctor prescribed a nightly stomach protector pill.. Before taking my twice daily I I eat part of my breakfast and dinner."

Pradaxa (dabigatran) "I have been taking Pradaxa (150mg twice a day) for about 2.5 yrs for AF had only had it once (AF) never to return, but still on it. I have never had any complications with this medication , I see a few of you have acid reflux, I take mine on an empty stomach no problems at all, plus here in NZ it is fully funded also…. I see a few comments where you guys have to pay for it which is bad luck for ya all.So in a nut shell some of us are lucky with no side effects….and some just bad luck, hope you all enjoying life anyways."

"After taking Pradaxa for 18 months following a stroke due to undiagnosed afib I had a 2nd stroke. I was absolutely devastated as I had been told that the Pradaxa would protect me. I was fully compliant with taking it and had experienced no side effects. Thankfully I have recovered from the stroke but I still have paroxysmal afib which terrifies me as my drs refuse to switch me to warfarin due to the higher risk of bleeding. No-one can give me an answer as to why it failed and given that there is no way of checking whether it is working or not, unlike warfarin, i fear that this class of drugs is not working for me but there seems little alternative."

"It seemed to work for the short term, but I believe there are problems for long term use, and especially when prescribed for non-cardiological purposes. I had been prescribed dabigatran and was taking it for almost 6 months when suddenly I started prolonged bleeding although I am in menopause."

"I've been taking Pradaxa for about 2 months. Cardiology lowered the dose to 75 twice a day. I have noticed no side effects at all. I have less bruising when bumping myself also. I hope this continues as bruising effect from warfarin was very unsightly."
