Flexeril (cyclobenzaprine) "My mom, who is 92 and has dementia, was prescribed Flexeril along with Tramadol for muscle pain. After 4 days of taking them, she woke up this morning totally confused and hallucinating. She had no idea where she was and was in tears. This forgetfulness was not her normal. The doctor prescribed Tramadol to be taken twice a day and the Flexeril 3 times. On the 1st day, she slept all day, and early evening sat with her head in her hand. When I'd ask how she was feeling, she looked at me dazed and said great, and then her head would drop back into her hand. The next day, I reduced the meds to once a day. She was still sleeping a lot, but this morning she was very confused and dazed! She is done with both meds. Dementia and these meds are NOT good!!!"

"I have been taking cyclobenzaprine for over 30 years (when I need it - not often). I have great results. I can't figure out why doctors prescribe pain medication three times a day. Many people can't function on that much dose: tramadol, hydrocodone. Many pain medications can work well once or twice a day. I wish doctors would prescribe pain medications once or twice a day, then increase it if necessary. I never take pain medicine more than once a day and only in severe pain for short times. If you feel drugged up on your pain medications, try cutting it down and see if it still works (but always contact your doctor first before changing anything with your pain medications or any medications your doctor prescribes). I hope everybody likes my comment."

Flexeril (cyclobenzaprine) "I have taken Flexeril for over 6 years on and off. I use Flexeril for chronic pain due to a fall and a spinal birth abnormality. I cannot take most pain pills. I'm allergic to aspirin. I find that when the pain is so bad that I cannot sleep, Flexeril allows me a good night's sleep, in turn, I am less agitated, making me better able to cope with the pain on my own. It has been a lifesaver for me."

Flexeril (cyclobenzaprine) "I took this for muscle pain, and it physically worked well but left me feeling incredibly depressed and hopeless to the point I had to discontinue. Not taking in combination with any other meds that could cause this, so unfortunately, I think this didn't vibe with my chemistry, even though the muscular relief and ability to sleep through the night was nice. I was only on 5 mg."

Flexeril (cyclobenzaprine) "I am a 39-year-old male and injured my back and neck about 7 years ago in a terrible car accident. I have had a spinal fusion C5, C6, C7 and a vertebroplasty T10, T11 and tried everything under the sun including opiates for the pain. For the last year, I have been managing my pain and muscle spasms with Flexeril once daily and massage therapy. The combination has been a lifesaver for me, literally. My life has completely changed, and I am now active and enjoying life again. I suggest you try Flexeril daily and get massage 2 to 4 times per month."

"I was prescribed this med for neck pain and muscle spasms. I don’t use it that often; and only for a few days, but when I need to reduce neck pain immediately, it is awesome. It can make you feel disconnected if your dose is too high. I split my 10 mg tablet into quarters and that will do the trick. I will take it before bed if the pain is so extreme that nothing else will work. Within 30 min, I am sleeping and have absolutely no pain throughout the night and the next day. Experiment with the dosage; I am over 200 pounds and 2.5 mg is plenty for me. It is very powerful; 10 mg will put me out for 15 hours, and the residual effects at this high dose are not good. Lower the dose, and you will see that this is a miracle drug."

Flexeril (cyclobenzaprine) "Took two ten mg tablets, then tried to sleep. Couldn't sleep because of legs and upper back spasming the same or worse, and then fell asleep three times for thirty minutes to an hour each time, only to wake up because of spasming and then discovering I had pooed myself a little each time. It gave me horrible diarrhea. I would rather be knocked out with a few firm punches to the face than to try this stuff again. I'm fairly certain it not only didn't help, but it made everything worse."

"I was prescribed this medication 9 months ago for muscle spasms. I noticed it lowered my blood pressure. Recently, I was given antibiotics for an abscessed tooth, and I had a strong reaction to them, they made me feel very anxious. I took my cyclobenzaprine with them 2x a day as prescribed (usually I only take 1 at night). After 10 days, when I was done with the antibiotic round, I stopped taking them and have been in heavy withdrawal ever since. It's a nightmare, and at first I didn't even understand why I felt so badly. I went to the ER with a blood pressure of 165/110. Please be aware this is an addictive drug, and everyone's body will respond differently. This is my 3rd day off, and I'm still experiencing severe insomnia, high blood pressure, and extreme discomfort. Wish I had known. Thanks. Good luck."

Flexeril (cyclobenzaprine) "I have severe back spasms in my lower and mid back sections. This medication works, however, I feel like a complete zombie when I wake up. I'm super tired for another day or two after a 15-milligram dose. Dry mouth is a huge factor for me, but staying hydrated is a great way to keep dry mouth at bay."

Flexeril (cyclobenzaprine) "I've tried Flexeril twice in my life, once at least 6 years ago, and the last time was in December. I'd been on Carisoprodol (generic Soma) long term (about 20 years with only about a 9 month break). December 2016, my pain management doctor and practice decided to completely stop writing Carisoprodol/Soma prescriptions for all patients. The excuse was that studies have determined that Carisoprodol/Soma only work to relieve musculoskeletal pain for up to 21 days and then have zero effect on pain. After I picked up my Flexeril, I found out that it is not recommended for long term use either, as a matter of fact, it's recommended to not be used for more than 14 days before it becomes ineffective. But Flexeril didn't even touch me."

"(Pink Lemonade) I have fibromyalgia and constantly in pain. My chest muscles always hurt and I have body aches as well. I have 5 mg Flexeril and 15 mg. I can't take the 15 because it keeps you drowsy. Even after 8 to 10 hours of sleep. I wish they had a cure for fibromyalgia. It's hard living with this condition. Especially when you have high blood pressure and diabetes. I've also noticed the kind of care you get depends on your insurance. Private insurance fixes the problem, Medicaid prolongs it by giving prescriptions. This is why you never see older politicians ever get sick. They have the funds for the best treatment. We have to settle. Everyone pray for one another because this world is definitely divided."

Flexeril (cyclobenzaprine) "5 or 10 mg works for muscle spasms, but dangerous if taken during the daytime. Caused uncontrolled drowsiness, deep sleep, difficulty waking up, constipation, blurred vision, and sudden unbearable headaches, leaving me unable to function. (5 or 10 mg doses had the same effects.) Lost a new job just 2 months after starting due to not realizing it was this medication's side effects of blurred vision, migraines, and exhaustion. I was unable to keep up with the workload and didn't relate it to Flexeril because I had been on it many years ago when I was much younger. I tried to explain to my PCP, but some docs just don't listen. I have since stopped Flexeril, no more headaches!"

"This stuff doesn't work for me, it just doesn't. I've had joint disease in my neck since I was 18. I'm always locking up. Flexeril just doesn't work for me. It never really has. It used to make me sleepy, but now it doesn't even do that. I get such bad spasms, the only relief I've ever gotten was the one month in my life my doctor prescribed me Soma. That was after I had surgery. Soma worked so much better than anything else I had ever tried. It felt amazing to move my body freely again. I just used it at night, I would stretch and go to bed. After a month, my doctor said he wouldn't prescribe it to me anymore and went back to Flexeril. It obviously didn't work, and I'm locked up again with no relief in sight. I just wish something worked. I feel hopeless."

Flexeril (cyclobenzaprine) "Woke up totally drowsy. Too strong for me. I will not be taking it again. Called pharmacy, and they said it hits some people this hard. Others can handle it. It takes up to 20 hrs to leave your system. Drowsiness may go on a second day. Sleep it off. Don’t drive!"

Flexeril (cyclobenzaprine) "I've been on Flexeril now for about 2 years. My neurologist was treating me for temporomandibular joint (TMJ) syndrome. I was okay taking 10 mg once a day. It was when he increased my dosage that I started to have very, very serious side effects. Among the normal side effects-sleepiness, grogginess, confusion-that's a given, but it was working, so I tolerated it. When I jumped to 20 mg a day, within a week or two, I started to develop much more serious side effects. I developed a rapid heart rate, and one of the most serious was I could not urinate. I was put on a catheter on Easter Sunday for about 5 weeks. Just prior to that, I was having difficulty swallowing. Along with that, I started to have hallucinations big time. I ended up with such bad nightmares that I literally fell out of my bed three nights in a row. My urologist finally put the pieces together when he found out how long I had been on Flexeril. He told me to stop immediately, and when I did, within a week or two, most of my symptoms have disappeared."

Flexeril (cyclobenzaprine) "I tore my labrum in my left hip, the doctor gave me Robaxin at first, but it didn't seem to work. I take 2 of these and 1 Vicodin, and I feel much better. After surgery, I will hopefully be able to get rid of these and get back to normal."

Flexeril (cyclobenzaprine) "I've taken Flexeril off and on since late '98 when I was (mis)diagnosed with muscle spasms (ER trip was due to a kidney stone). Flex was great at relieving muscle spasms for 7 out of 10 days prescribed. I took it for all 10 days, though the low back spasms were gone after day 7-the kidney stone pain, however, remained. I've been taking it as needed (having fractured my T12 or L1 vertebra when I was 8, herniated discs, etc.-at this writing, I'm 59) for about 6 months, per my PCP. After the first bottle, I told him about the soporific/zombie effects, and he now requires me to take it only when I go to bed to sleep. Flex has a half-life of 18-23 hours. Thus, it doesn't wear off fast. A bit of Melatonin helps me get better-than-zombie sleep. :)"

"I don't recommend this medication to anyone. It did help with the muscle spasm, but the side effects of this pill are ridiculous! I had very bad anxiety, my heart pounding like I was going to have a heart attack with every move I made, shaky hands, numb legs, and waking up in the middle of the night with my left arm hurting and pressure on the left side of my chest. You wake up like you have a hangover: groggy, panicky, and cranky. Never again. I only took it for 4 days."

Flexeril (cyclobenzaprine) "I had severe bilateral sacral pain, had a caudal epidural with no effect. I began Flexeril 10 mg prior to the epidural, which improved my condition. After the epidural, I stopped Flexeril, and the pain came back big time. I resumed Flexeril, which kicked in two days later. I take it 2x daily and meloxicam 15 mg once daily. I am scheduled for another epidural on January 2, but will cancel if Flexeril keeps working."

Amrix (cyclobenzaprine) "My doctor recommended this medication for relief of muscle spasms associated with trigger points in my upper back. This is the first medication that really helps to take the edge off when the trigger point fires up. I still get pain, but it's nowhere near as bad as it used to be. I have had no noticeable side effects other than some mild constipation. One 15 mg capsule twice a day works for me."

Flexeril (cyclobenzaprine) "I read through some of the reviews here and wow, what doctors are you seeing that prescribe 10 mg, 3 times a day?! Of course, you have side effects lol. That's jumping off the deep end. You always start low and ramp up. Make sure you Google medications before just taking them. Doctors can be wrong and are wrong lots of times. My doctor told me 5 mg to 10 mg a day only at night. I'm on my first day after taking 10 mg last night and feel pretty groggy, but I only slept 7 hours (more than I usually get). I took a 5 mg pill at about 10:20 pm last night and was laying down for an hour before I took another 5 mg pill at 11:20 pm. It was about 12:20 am when I last looked at the time. I did wake up with a headache that went away after an hour though."

Flexeril (cyclobenzaprine) "The side effect that made me stop it was severe reflux. I would wake up from a dead sleep, basically vomiting in my mouth and nearly choking on it. This happened nightly for weeks, and I just couldn't tolerate it anymore. It does help a great deal with relaxing the muscles (and for pain). I also get insomnia from this while most people get drowsy."

Flexeril (cyclobenzaprine) "I've been prescribed Flexeril a few times when I've severely pulled a muscle. I use it as a muscle relaxant only; to lower the pain of a spasm and be able to stretch the muscle a bit to loosen it. When I was in PT, I took it after when my muscles were tight and aching. It worked great for those days I overdid it. It's definitely not a pill to take during the day unless you've become accustomed to it. I can attest to its efficacy for short-term use up to 2 weeks, but am doubtful about how well it would work long-term."

Flexeril (cyclobenzaprine) "I took this when I pulled a muscle in my back and could no longer pick up my infant daughter. I took it in the middle of the day, and it helped with the pain. Initially, it didn't make me sleepy, but the next morning, it was near impossible to wake up. It was that terrible 'hangover' feeling. It was the worst I've ever felt. I could hardly make myself wake up to get dressed and use the restroom. I lay around until almost 4 PM the next day just because of pure lack of energy. Luckily, I was only prescribed it for a week or so, otherwise, I'm sure I would have quit taking it because of the drowsiness aftereffect."
